The RSR Lead Smelter and Environmental Justice 

DESCRIPTION
This video documents an important environmental justice problem in Dallas, TX. From the early 1930s to 1984, the RSR Smelter Plant processed old batteries and recycled lead from them in the middle of a minority neighborhood in West Dallas. Throughout its decades of operation, lead and other hazardous materials were spewed into the air, deposited on the soil, and endangering residents. Watch this video and learn about the history of the lead smelter and the fight to shut it down and clean up the neighborhood.
