Correction: A mistake happened in the image for "If I Needed Someone." Instead of saying "Lennon/McCartney," I forgot to copy and paste to say "Harrison." Sorry for that. It’s finally here: the Rubber Soul sessions! Hope you all like the new fanfare. Please like and comment to help us with RU-vid's algorithm. Thank you all for the support; the channel would be nowhere without the fans. Also, stay tuned for the new _Beatles game_ I’m currently developing that's coming up soon. "Peace and love, peace and love,” as Ringo would say. - Gustavo

Would love to see a short series from Ringo's version about before they became famous. It can also include the others but I've seen that many times. It could be in the style of Wonder Years. Vignettes on each of them but mostly Ringo. Could you convince Ron Howard to work on that? I'm very curious about the English Public school system. Ever since I saw the movie Melody in the early 70's

It’s peak early Beatles! I see Revolver as a transitional album that crossed the divide between early and late Beatles. Rubber Soul is the best of the early Beatles, and has some of their best songs. Great guitar tones as well. Also has a couple stinkers, but flaws create contrast that makes the good songs better

This album was transformative. When it came out, I listened to it for days and days, just taking it in. (14 years later, we played In My Life at our wedding). 1965 was an astounding year for music: electric Bob Dylan (Like A Rolling Stone); rock's great anthem, the Stones' Satisfaction; the Laurel Canyon's Byrds and Mamad and Papas. Motown! OMG, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Supreme, Martha and the Vandellas, the Temptations, Four Tops; Otis Redding and Wilson Picket! Beach Boys, Yardbirds... The radio blasted great music all day and night, and the artists kept inspiring each other to greater heights. Great time to be alive and young. The first concert I ever attended was The Beatles. This is my favorite Beatles album. Except for those days when Revolver is. Thanks so much for this terrific documentary. 👑

The Beatles reached a height of fame no other performers have ever reached.., to a place called "The toppermost of the poppermost". John told them in 1961 that's where they were going, and that where they went. Brian Epstein said, "The Beatles will be bigger than Elvis.", and "The children of the 21st century will be listening to the Beatles." He was right about both. They pushed the boundaries of live concerts, studio recording, and how albums could be a complete piece of art. Over 60 years later their music is still being listened to, analyzed, and revered around the world. We will never see anything like the Beatles again.

I was 9, or 10, in Yalta (USSR), when I heard "Girl", accidentally, on somebody's tape recorder. It really, spiritually, changed my life. Later album "Help" doubled, or tripled this impression, if it's possible, and "Still my Guitar Gently Weeps", that I heard on the radio, made it to stratospheric leap of consciousness... and all that, even, without deep understanding the meaning of the poetry, except I knew what words Girl, Help and Guitar were, of course

My all time favorite album. Being ten years old, I was blown away by the lyrics and the more bluesy sound - not that I would know it, but as reconstructed afterthoughts in my teens. It's hard to pick out ONE Song, but I remember always being in love with a girl, and always having a hard time breaking up, so "I'm looking through you" have always been one of them. But this album AND Revolver will always be the peek for me - I "matured" in an early age, so to say ...

It's obvious George Harrison had been Indian in a past life; he was a very spiritual person, and how brilliant a choice to be reborn as a humble Liverpudlian after World War II then be the lead guitarist of the most famous band in the world and re-connect with his Indian spiritual life again, and bring it to the West, He became a lifelong Krishna devotee. His ashes were spread into the Ganges. I'm glad he has finally got the respect he deserved while he was in The Beatles and for his other recordings and work with the Travelling Wilbury's.

There have been a lot of documentaries on The Beatles, but I believe that a documentary that would cover the time between spring 65 through summer 67 would be fantastic. Although The Beatles would be the main characters it would cover everything from music, entertainment, politics and Vietnam. Why??? Because it was the most seminal time in recent history. Just that period between the Shea stadium concert and the release of Rubber Soul. Sooo much happening in the world. All of these things are reflections and were reflected by The Beatles. An absolutely amazing time.

This is actually one of the few Beatles albums I had on vinyl and I recall listening to it at my aunt's house in the late 1990's while they were at a football game. It was a really neat experience because I turned the volume up really loud when What Goes On came on. The bass line was just off the hook. I also think the track I'm Looking Through You Was really interesting because my actual second album of the Beatles was Anthology Part 2, and stupidly I didn't know those were the outtakes. Hearing the final version, you begin to understand how the Beatles could begin work on a song and by the next day have an entirely different piece of music all together. Finally, I think Ringo's drumming on You Won't See Me is some of his best, compared with She Said, She Said, Rain and You Never Give Me Your Money. While it's not my favorite album, it's certainly an album that I've come to appreciate over the years, if for nothing else than it's historical significance.

Rubber Soul is my favourite Beatles record for the following reasons: * It captures the band at the peak of their 1st phase, before they started wandering into novelty records and overtly experimental music; * They do not assume that the formula they adopted for Help! and previous records will work - they look to Dylan, Motown and world music and incorporate this into their own music; * You can hear them developing and grow as musicians, George and Paul in particular. George’s contributions become clearly recognisable. There’s much more piano on this record. * They begin using the studio as an instrument, with George Martin playing an increasingly important role. * Many of the songs feature John Paul and George singing beautiful harmony vocals - after 6 years together, these sound effortless and natural. The vocals are very clear in the mix and represent their signature sound. No wonder Brian Wilson was jealous.

Glorious! Thank you so much for this gem of a documentary ❤ incidentally the UK album is different from the US album. I think Run For Your Life was in the vein of country singers such as Johnny Cash who showed a violent streak in their lyrics

I can’t believe you didn’t mention Lennon’s almost inaudible retort “we already told you why” after Ringo sings the words “Tell Me Why” on What Goes On.

Great great great job. Best video on the making of their songs. Did I mention it’s a great video. 👍

Wow at 1:40:58 George mentions that If I Needed Someone was based on the Byrds The Bells of Rhymney. After listening to it, the opening guitar riff is very similar to it.

Had to look. But still have a Rubber Soul album unwrapped. Have 2 and 1 is open the other never opened. Give it to one of my Grandson's with the history of it.

You should of play more of each song you wre discussing, I mean not the whole damn song but some what MORE if you get my drift,at least the first verse, and just a shade of the chorus, it may of made your daybue a little longer but Beatle fans would of enjoyed this thing of yours a lot better, yes it would of took longer to complete but after all they're the BEATLE. Man,,,, remember " HEY JUDE " got away with it, and so could you have,,,after all theyre the Beatles ! ,and by the way have noticed how well Ringos voice sounded on Yellow submarine, the other three could of nevr sounded so perfect for that son, I'm surprised you didnt bring that to peoples attention ,,,listen to it and I mean REALLY listen this time, and you'll notice what a lot havent and never will ,thanks man !

Hi BB Great Docu, Thank You. I've been a huge fan since the early sixties and although I love the usual albums: A Hard Day's Night, Abbey Road, Revolver, White Album etc - the Rubber Soul album will always be very special to me. Maybe it's because, I met my first girlfriend around that time or in retrospect, being about a hometown or a person, that the album had imho one of their best love songs: In My Life. Beatlemania forever ☮️❤️🎸
