this is one of those trades where it’s impossible to tell how it’s gonna roll until we actually see gobert in a t-wolves jersey on the court. personally i think they gave up a little too much, but i also feel like rudy gobert can help the t-wolves exponentially.
I couldn't think of a name fude dont be a casual this one of the worst trades in the last 20 years this is like when the 76ers traded for Al Horford and he clogged up the paint next to Joel Embiid
I feel really bad for Pat Bev though it seems like he finally found his home with people just as passionate as he was with the same energy and now he's gone
I would like to say how much I appreciate your support for Gobert. I'm so tired of the media or other RU-vidrs ragging on him or the Jazz. But the fact that you recognize his talent and actually like him for it is just great to hear
Fr I was like you lungs Kenny???????? Unless you sick or working out in dust all your life (which he doesn’t) there’s no reason for this lay off the smoking
I think Wolves will be good for him too 🙂, opponents won't be able to go smallball with KAT next to him and he'll be able to focus on defense and rebounding .
@@HowdidhenotseemeYou can put your SG and SF in the wings remember Lob city with BG and Deandre? I saw Gobert exposed against smallball on defense because he could not commit to defend outside since no one could cover if he got blown by and exposed on offense because he can't post up smaller players. I believe being with KAT fixes those issues. I think teams wont go smallball against him anymore but we'll see 😉
I have a feeling that in a few years there will only be 1/3rd of teams even drafting in the 1st round, since teams are trading all there draft picks for stars and superstars.
But then those teams like the thunder in theory trade those picks or young players for veterans when they make a push. Ain’t no way a team can develop that many young players to their full potential
@@adamcaputi9599 you also can’t have that many players on a roster so usually most teams have atleast 10-12 of their players returning and so is it worth have 3-4 rookies occupying your roster or going for some vets to fill the bench especially when you’re trying to contend. You can have 15 players plus 2 two-way players which limits a roster
Wolves fan here. A starting 5 of Dlo, Ant, mcdaniels, KAT, and Gobert has a lot of threats on both ends. Shooting cutting driving lobs it’s all there. Off the bench Jmac, nowell, prince, Anderson , Moore and reid. Swapping players out against smaller lineups, there’s a lot of versatility, and a lot of defense. It’s a win now move, I hope it works
Jazz fan here. KAT being the great shooter with Rudy in the paint is exactly the pairing we had been dreaming of for years. So I think it’s got huge potential.
Trading Gobert to rebuild around Mitchell was almost a requirement for the Jazz. They had to start over and Gobert's contract is too big. I think this will really help the Timberwolves be immediately competitive with the 1-2 punch with KAT, but they gave up a lot to do it. I'd like to see the T'wolves not be terrible for a change so I'll be optimistic.
As a Jazz fan is 100% was not. Blowing these picks to retool around Mitchell and get maybe 45 wins before he demands out in a year or two anyways is about the worst possible thing to do. They need to trade Mitchell as well and fully blow it up.
As a life long Jazz fan - I am still trying to wrap my head around us making a headline; let alone getting so much in return. That said, Rudy Gobert has been the perfect embodiment of our franchise, and I will truly miss him.
As a Wolves fan. I’m excited about this trade. It’s nice to see a front office in MN take risks. I mean 4 frp is a little much but Don’t change we got the best defensive big and shooting big on the same team. I think We finally do something in the regular season and make a push in the playoffs at least second round
As a Jazz fan, I’m excited to see what the Timberwolves do this season. Crazy having KAT and Rudy on the same team, they compliment each other really well. 👍👍
As a Jazz fan, I am very grateful that someone like you appreciates Rudy Gobert. It has been painful to see the lack of respect for this guy over the last several years across the league when it seems like everybody who did not watch the Jazz regularly could not realize just how much he impacts the game. His Defense is truly an all time level and it is sad to see him get traded.
@@hahahahaflyer KAT was playing next to vanderbilt the entire year and Gobert got more offensive game than him so if anything this only opens up things even more for KAT..... Gobert is also a fantastic screen setter who will be thriving in the PnR with D'Lo
Honestly as someone who has lived their whole life in MN I'm just happy to see the wolves do something big and take a legitimate chance at something. If it doesnt work out, so be it but at least they had the balls to actually make a major trade. I'm tired of seeing us waste the prime of star caliber players because they're too terrified to make any substantial moves.
I feel like people overvalue what picks are worth. If the wolves are even gonna be a low seed playoff team, the picks will be in the late 10’s and 20’s. If you had 5 chances to draft at the 15-25 pick, I don’t think you will get even close to a player of Gobert’s level.
I completely agree, I think we’ve seen a lot recently that teams are starting to value first round picks less, the TWolves have this core locked in, and I can’t necessarily ever see them winning anything unless Ant becomes a 2-way superstar, but they should be at least 5-6th seed for the foreseeable future
This what people said during the rockets Westbrooks trade and the Brooklyn trades, and look how that turned out. Those picks have low value if they turn out to be a good team, but you never know
We acting like this trade is gamechanging like 08 Celtics or 2011 Heat offseason allright we smoking that pack, until KD is traded its just a good offseason nothing that Big
Utah wanted Jaden McDaniels, Minnesota said no! We will just give you extra picks. Jaden McDaniels is a player ALL teams wanted in ANY trade. Minnesota didn't want to give him up. Minnesota gave up expiring contracts and late first round picks. Minnesota has a much better overall roster than Utah for Gobert. Even though this looks like a lot given up, Minnesota got an even deal by not giving up Jaden McDaniels.
Gobert went from 52 overall in 2k14 to being worth 9 players. Glad my Jazz made a ballsy move, they got rookie C to replace him, addressed the perimeter defense, backup PG and wing depth they desperately needed + the picks
Hope they can co-exist, sounds like a good match on papper. (Rudy and KAT) Maybe Rudy will get in KAT's and Edwards way on offense, but their defence should improve.
He’s going to move out of the way if KAT is posting up or Edwards slashing but his presence there to be able to clear the glass is tremendous on misses to provide second opportunities
@@reimixo that’s the biggest part. I’m a Jazz fan and we’ve been searching for another big that can shoot from deep forever to play with Rudy. Never found the one. Rudy is gonna make KAT open like crazy. And if not there’s an easy lob for some as tall as KAT into Rudy. I think knee jerk reaction is idk but more I think about it I think it could be huge
@@MrSoccerstar3 Yeah, but if rudy moves out of the way he can´t get the rebound. Also if he moves out of the way his defender is probably going to double KAT if he posts up, as rudy is not a shooter. With Edwards it would probably work better as rudy´s defender would maybe leave to contest edwards and then rudy could get the rebound or rudy´s defender wouldn´t leave rudy fearing the pass, or rudy just grabbing the rebound after his defender contest edwards shot. That could work on KAT´s post-up but it´s harder. Rudy averages about 3,5 ppg on putbacks (third best in the NBA) so he undoubtedly is a good rebounder, so hopefully he will make it work. We'll have to see, i think it could work great. They will most definitely do better than last season. Hope so atleast.
The trade for KD is going to have actual good players and not just role players tho. I don't doubt there will be 3-5 first round picks but there might be a couple all stars involved in the KD trade
Hopefully the Rudy trade isn’t the influencer cuz they gave up too much for Gobert. I would think that was a KD trade. I don’t wanna bank too heavy on KD (as a heat fan) cuz I just saw how the big 3 over there tanked the Nets future and didn’t even make it to the finals. He’s a great shooter but he struggled against Boston himself and the Celtics is the Heat’s biggest threat.
I don’t get how people are taking a shit on Minnesota. They just put together a pair of top 5 centers along with an upcoming superstar wing in Edwards, and they didn’t even give up D’Lo. Its a win now move. How many times does a small market franchise get the opportunity to do this? They ain’t drawing in all star level free agents. KAT now gets the chance to stretch the floor while someone still has their paint covered. If they fill up their roster properly, they’re a better squad than Denver.
I’m a Twolves fan so I’m excited but also uneasy. The now looks great but the future completely depends on Ant like Kenny said. If we fall out like the Nets we r done for but if we do well we might have a great team for a long time
This is very different from the nets situation. The Nets whole team was old before they traded for kg and Paul pierce which caused them to be injury riddled. The timberwolves still have a young core and aren’t completely screwed if gobert doesn’t work out.
As a Wolves fan I'm super hyped for my team to be a legitimate threat for the first time in a long time, especially if Ant continues to expand and improve his game. Giving up that many picks is a bit worrying, but we'll need the cap space to make sure Ant gets paid and we've been mediocre for so long that if this doesn't work out it's just back to business as usual lmao
Yous literally dont have a bench, yous traded valuable squad rotation players, 4 first round picks for Rudy. Wayyyyy to much. T wolves were nice. Still think Rudy will be good for yous but I don’t think it’s a good trade
It’s gonna be fun to watch the Wolves contend for the first time since KG. They got about 3-4 years to bring a chip to the twin cities and I’d love to see it happen.
This might of been the best return the jazz could have got for Rudy!! If I was them I would have tried to get naz Reid too but how tf did they get 4 first rounders for a player who been exposed in the playoffs.
its the teams defensive system that got exposed. I do agree its an overpay but Rudy wasn't the main problem in Utah. It was the system and the perimeter defenders.
You Timberwolves fans have gotten a very star player and even better person in Gobert! We are gonna miss him a lot in Utah. And I can tell you I was highly against trading him for anything honestly. You guys will be an exceptional defensive team now. So congratulations on picking up my all time favorite Jazz man. That’s after being a Jazz man for nearly 40 years. I will be rooting for Rudy and therefore, for your Timberwolves now, because he is there! You guys will have an awesome season coming up! 💯🔥🏀
Great trade for the jazz in my mind, especially since they are presumably going after DeAndre Ayton. Gives them great assets to do that since the sun's have to give him up for cheap to make room for a potential Kd trade. Definitely a overpay though but could work for the wolves.
Dlo isn’t washed up he just had some bad luck In his career being traded over and over he had an Al star level year with the nets then kd ruins his career he fit well with the nets and I think he will be a beast next season
i see it as the wolves doing everything in theyre power to keep dlo ant kat and mcdaniels and that’s what it took even if it was an overpay but over the next 3 years the wolves will be top 4 seed in the west
They were bidding against the Bulls/Raptors at least. And, you might wanna look at stats before you assume, man. The Wolves were the 13th rated defense last year. Not 24th. Add HOF Gobert to that even losing Pat Bev and Vando and thats a top 3 defense with the offense of DLo, Ant and Kat.
Front court go crazy, best defensive center and best offensive center, on the same team at the same time. Pair that with DLO and AntMan, they gonna be toughhh
As a Timberwolves fan I’m fine with what is quite blatantly an overpay due to the fact that the only real starter on our team we lost was Vanderbilt, though Beverly will probably be missed more, and with Beasley and Bev gone it let’s the team try to develop Nowell more and Bryn Forbes to try to become the same role that Beasley was. Not to mention the 4 picks is a lot except for the fact that the Wolves have been terrible at drafting anywhere other than top 3 in the first round for well over a decade with the only real exception being Zach Lavine, 3 of our 4 best picks in the last decade have all been first overall selections so it’s not hard to get something good with that many attempts.
From the 2012-2022 drafts there are only 3 first round picks from the Timberwolves on roster if you count Moore’s draft day trade, the others being KAT (1st overall) and Ant (1st overall), it will be 4 if Okogie re-signs. Most of the Timberwolves first round picks end up getting traded soon after anyway. LaRavia, Kessler, Poku, Markkanen, Roberson, Burke, Culver played under 80 games, Bolmaro barely played, Dunn didn’t do much, even Lavine ended up getting traded away for Butler who we didn’t even get to keep for long.
I like the trade as a wolves fan it's a move made by this new front office that want to be competitive right now no one realizes how many picks have been busts for this franchise this org needed to make this move we are tired of waiting and hoping to bank on those picks.
@@weights250 dpoy means nothing since marcus smart won it 🤣 joke of an award. gobert gets targeted constantly by other teams, he's easily exploited on the perimeter. pair that next to kat who struggles with the same thing you have a match made in hell
@@MarkoMagic No we didn't we got Ant man Jaden McDaniels Nowell we got young players ready when there time comes as the super stars majority of those pick are suppose to be low anyway since they will compete.
NBA should also limit the future draft picks that teams can trade, probably not beyond 3 years? Teams are basically mortgaging their future with these trades.
I’ve always said that on defence it was Rudy Gobert and 4 traffic cones on defence. I’m excited to see him with a few less traffic cones out there. I edited his name because of spell check.
0:00 WHAT"S THE WORD Y"ALL 1:00 Trade Details 2:07 Initial Response, how the fit is 3:45 Other offers for Rudy 4:36 Is this a championship contender? 6:12 This may be really good for the Wolves 8:18 How Donavon Mitchell Sees This 9:15 Jazz side 10:50 This was an overpay.... 12:03 Super exciting trade It was really hard to pin each timestamp, and I would really recommend my channel where I make NBA stories, short stories, and anything NBA
Ayyyyye I'm calling this Kat and Gobert the Twin Towers of the Timberwolves. I'm really surprised Gobert got traded to the T-Wolves and I'm not sure what's gonna happen but I like it when NBA teams shake up the rosters
What do the Jazz do now? I think this makes their defense a bit the same or a little lower because Rudy was Rudy, but now you have a lot of quality role players and Donny. You have to make more moves in my opinion if you want to keep Donovan on the team. I know there is talks of him moving as well, but I feel that they don't want to leave the playoff scene, but I don't see them doing anything big. I don't know, I'm a mediocre fan so maybe everything I just said doesn't make any sense.
id say Minnesota timberlands is dependent on Anthony Edwards but specifically as a two way player and to carry the energy pat bev had because they did go to six with a healthy grizzlies
As a Jazz fan, I'm sad to see Gobert leave but it's the right move to build around Mitchell, and with all we got for him it's a fucking STEAL. I was expecting Durant to pull this much, let alone Gobert!
I think Durant would definitely need another valuable player alongside those picks, but hell yea happy for you Jazz fans that you got a haul, deserve some good vibes and an improved situation. With all these future assets now, how would you feel about them also trading Mitchell and just completely blowing things apart and rebuilding, I don’t think it will or should happen, but an interesting thing to think about
@@samn90834 I'd be fine trading Mitchell. Reports are that we're close to a trade for Deandre Ayton which the Suns want to get more assets so they can acquire Durant. This shit is about to be INSANE
@@ladrac198 suns about to send 10 firsts to Brooklyn haha, a little surprised by that, I would have thought the suns would use Ayton in a sign and trade to make the money work, obviously I’m sure Brooklyn would rather have him than 3 future firsts for example
Mitchell not staying here long term in Utah. So building around him is pointless. He leaves either this year. Or next, if the Jazz don’t go deep in the playoffs. Mark my words. And with the current roster now, you think it was bad playoff wise for us before? I predict we don’t win more than 43 or so games this year. And that’s if we keep Mitchell! This was about as good a package as we could get back for Gobert. But planning a team around Mitchell is about to be exposed as the second worst recent move, only behind us trading away so many guys and overpaying and then resigning for Conley… This is going to turn out bad… Mitchell has stated he wants to play for Miami. He will be leaving Utah. And then we are totally busted down, rebuild 🗑 for years to come. I hate the fact we traded away Gobert. Should have dumped Conley and Mitchell. 👎👎👎
Using picks to get proven talent than having the g league players and undrafted player get 10 days will help teams find gems like warriors did, I think next season will showcase how much teams find talent in many ways like warriors have been doing for so long, plus very few teams find their future guy in drafting anyways so to give it for a proven got now player/s makes sense
RG is gonna solidify that front line and you got a Big Four and I love this. I need to see DR to step the heck up and set the table like I know he can. KAT not having to worry about being the last line of defense is gonna do wonders for him as well.
It definitely feels like an overpay right now, but if you think about it, they didn’t give up any serious pieces and got a 3-time dpoy. Tough to tell right now. After this, whatever team trades for kd is going to be a repeat of the nets with kg and pierce
Also, Rudy shoots 70% and leads the league in rebounding. KAT is a very good passer and a good perimeter defender too. The fact that they’re both agile, can easily switch, and can catch lobs is an extra bonus to their well known All-NBA traits.
@@_ThunderFire Yeah, and now Rudy don't need to defend the rim and the corner shooters every time because the rest of the team can't do that. It is a overpay, but looking at the rest of the scenary, wings that every body had as 4 to 6 mil players being signed for 13 mil a year, Brunson being the first non allstar to get a 100+mil contract ever. 80% of the transactions are looking as a overpays.
@@peixeiragamers I think it was a lil bit of a overpay but at the same time it’s like the concept of the Rams in the nfl why need your picks when you plan to be good and get a guaranteed good player from them
I think unprotected first round draft picks are the new normal in the NBA. Kind of like fully covered contracts in football have now become the big thing that a free agent quarterback is going to want from a team now a team is going to want unprotected first round picks in the NBA.
I’m excited to watch D’Angelo Russell have 10+ assists per game this year. Like let’s not act like he didn’t average 18 and 7 this last year and people be treating him like a bum. He even improved defensively
Wolves does not feel like they’re playing to Dlo’s strength tho coz both KAT and Ant love to do their own thing sometimes and for some reason. Hope they can come up with some interesting gameplan that allows for some synergy. I can just imagine a bunch of plays that’s definitely gonna force the other team to adapt them. Kinda have doubts on how they’re gonna handle a small ball lineup tho coz Kat and Gobert can’t hang against great ball handlers and shot creators on D.
DLo's primary strength has always been in the PnR and KAT was never really a PnR guy, DLo has been pretty underutilized on the timberwolves as of yet but the DLo/Rudy PnR has insane potential. Rudy being here makes DLo significantly more valuable without DLo having to retool at all
Imo I feel like the Minnesota Timberwolves lost the trade. Who’s gonna be their primary perimeter defender? This gonna be like Utah Jazz situation again!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Ant is a solid on ball defender but below average/average offball. Jaden Mcdaniels has the potential to be a terror on defense going off the past season. Their defense hangs on if those two can live up to their defensive potential
In terms of immediate impact, its clear this makes minny a way better basketball team, and it isnt hard to tell that. The problem is minnesota just threw away al of their future picks and are now placed in a situation where if you arent a championship contender, your absolutely positively screwed. We’ll see if the wolves are a contender or not in the following season, but to me this is an absolute boneheaded move by minnesota
If you don't mention Jaden McDaniels, you evaluation of the trade is massively incomplete. The reason they had to add the extra 1st round picks was so they could keep McDaniels. EVERY GM wanted him and he is a very good player and GREAT defensive player.
I always thought KAT was a PF. I could see him being better defensively and his 3pt attempts is likely go up because he doesn’t have to play in the paint if he’s at the 4.
I know that Minnesota is on the upswing but historically their 1st round picks have been pretty damn high up there. If things don't work out there and they implode in the next 2-3 years things could work out really nice for Utah. I'm a Jazz fan and love Rudy. He should have 5 consecutive DPOY awards and no one can convince me otherwise. He's one of my favorite Jazz players of all time and I didn't want them to trade him... that said even I wouldn't have been able to say no to that offer. I was expecting the jazz to get fewer and probably lower quality players, and at most 2 1st round picks but possibly more like 1 1st and a couple 2nds. So overall the deal had to be done.
Pat bev had an expiring contract, Malik too, and we didn’t give up McDaniels, jaylen nowell, or ant (obviously). As wolves fans we wanted the office to take a swing and man did they ever. I’m a wolves fan trying to be optimistic as much as possible
@@ajhelmer2420 fr McDaniels is gonna develop and we have a top 10 roster so those picks will be nothing when ant and kat and gobert take us to the playoffs
It's gonna be interesting. I think every team in the league is gonna have a hard time adjusting to play against Gobert and KAT at the same time. They probably gonna win most Rebound battles. But all of this is theory, looking at Brooklyn or the Clippers we'll have to wait and see how they fit together, but it's really gonna interesting. And now I'm even more interested what the Nets gonna get for KD, hope they don't mess this up, lol
