If anyone's wondering why I've used computer game footage to highlight the rules of F1 - it's because Liberty Media (who owns F1) refuse to let anyone use their broadcast footage of the races. Numerous iterations of this video were blocked worldwide, so I used footage from a computer game. If these guys file a complaint against that - then they're really just a fascist organisation. EDIT - a lot of people are saying you can't refuel in a race. That may be so now, but in the past it was different, and in the future it might be different still. I left a lot of details out because F1 has a tendency to change rules on a whim. As always, like share and subscribe :)
I watched 3 videos explaining F1, but all of them excluded the basics. Thank you so much for explaining so that beginners with no understanding of F1 actually get an idea what F1 is about.
There are some famous types of banks and turns you will see in a F1 race - S-turns - these are small multiple turns in a shape of an S. Sometimes they are called "Double S" turns. Hairpin - also known as hairpin curve, these are the toughest turns for a F1 racer to master. Generally, a racer has to lower the gear number to lessen speed into that tough curve, then change to a higher gear after finishing it. Lowering the gear too late into that curve could result in a spinout or even crash, especially in difficult weather. Racers will take advantage of straightaways to gain maximum speed to complete a lap before facing the circuit's turns once again in the next lap.
@@NinhLyUK Hermann tilke actually was a race driver, he used to race in VLN, a short time endurance race (usually 4 hours) on Green Hell. He use his experience as driver to design tracks. He is one of very few can design a grade 1 track.
@@soundlessbird9181 That dont suprise me one bit =). I dont think you can study without any previous knowledge and build a good circuit (maybe if you get lucky). I know in alpine skiing trainer and parents for diffrent competitors get asked to make the course. So you can have a swedish course maker in an canadian competition and the second heat you have a slovenian :)
I can remember sitting with my grandad in his home back in New Zealand. He would always watch motorsports aswell as F1, he would watch Motorcycle races etc. And he would also watch something called sidecar racing. "The kings of motor and wheels"
This video is great for anyone wanting to get into F1. I've been somewhat of an F1 fan for a little while now myself. I've seen your video on Nascar as well, which is also very informative and great for anyone wanting to get into that as well. I would love to see a video on Indycar, or maybe even IMSA or the WEC sometime in the future, if possible.
I first got into the sport of Formula One when I was in my teens. I just found the looks of the cars and the speeds they're capable of to be very mind-blowing. I also found it cool that each race was held in a different country. A very nice video.
As you could probably tell from the video, I left a lot of detail out. This is because rules change every year and I don't want to have an out of date video after 6 months.
@@NinhLyUK I don't want to have an out od date video after 6 months so i'm going to have an out of date video from the beginning Even though there are some small mistakes that catch an eye of f1 fans this video still explains the basic rules of f1 in good way
I was wondering when you were going to have F1 on your “Ninh Explains” page! Good work!! PS - I saw what you did, using video game footage so that the F1/Liberty Media lawyers won’t be on your case!! Sneaky!!
They shouldn't do, because most of the footage is of a computer game. They were dicks about it actually - had numerous iterations of my video blocked because they wouldn't allow the footage.
F1 is farcical - the rules that need to change to make a real race are 1) Go back to Slick, Intermediate and Wet and it should be entirely up to each team. 2) When a safety car is deployed No Team should be allowed into pits unless it is for retirement or punctures thus eliminating this insane lottery which is dependant on where your car is on the track
Yeah yeah. In general, they're all contested in a different country - but I didn't want to be the douchebag that explains ... "oh maybe sometimes a country can hold two Grand Prix's, one for their own country and one as a European Grand Prix". Boring!
@@NinhLyUK Your videos always makes us happy... And I'm sure you've heard this before many times but your voice is so cool... Another coolest thing definitely is the fact that you're so very active on this comment section also! Thanks for replying something every time ! :)
You are one of the best channels on RU-vid and I hope you continue on this and I learned new sports from you Is it possible to operate road tennis rule👍
A blue flag is used to tell a "back marker" (a person who is in the last few positions) that a "front runner" (a person in the top few positions) is coming and they need to get out of the way
As an endurance racing fan, I run into a lot of people (especially in america) that have no idea what I'm talking about. It would be cool to see a endurance racing video
format for f1 is, practice 1 and practice 2 on friday, practice 3 and qualifying ( qualifying in three stages, in q3 top 15 move into q2 and top 10 in q3, this determines the lineup for the race) on Saturday, sunday is the race, drivers are required to use at least two different tire compounds during the race, except if they start in wet conditions. refuelling during the race is not allowed since 2010
If (for example) a leader of the race is stuck behind a slower driver - this will drastically slow him down and cause him to lose his lead to the point whereby it's not fair. Therefore some cars will be required to let the person behind overtake .
BTW, A drive through penalty does not mean that time is added to your race; instead the car in question will drive through the pit lane, in which their speed is greatly reduced due to pit lane speed limits. However, penalties in which time is added to the race still occur frequently
First off, Liberty Media needs to get over themselves. Secondly, this is a very interesting video to the basics for those who want to watch the sport. Like the NFL's new roughing the passer rules...a lot of rules get changed every year, and sometimes not for the better.
If you were wondering what the point system looks like as of the 2024 season... 1st place: 25 2nd place: 18 3rd place: 15 4th place: 12 5th place: 10 6th place: 8 7th place: 6 8th place: 4 9th place: 2 10th place: 1 Fastest lap: 1 11th to 20th: 0
2:56 / 5:32 The tyre categories are not super soft, soft, and medium but rather soft, medium, and hard... White is the hard, yellow the medium and red being the soft and offers the highest traction but fastest wear
Ninh Ly Well, I look forward to your content. And I ALWAYS be sure like, share, and I’m subscribed. I know it takes you ages to make one of these things, so the good karma is very much appreciated.
I come here looking for answers for 3 questions, 1. What will happen to a car or team that involve accident e.g at pre-qualifying stage and actual Race. they can continue with replacement car or disqualified? 2. What will happen to the racer/team that involve in accident as a victim. I mean the car/racer that totally innocent but can't be help involved in crash. 3. How teaming actually works? (2 or more car in the same team in the same race) are they allowed to disturb other racer or help their own team in any way during race?
Thanks for your questions. 1) Crashes almost never happen in qualifying, as they're usually by themselves trying to get the fastest time. If cars go wrong, they can repair them before the race, but this is rare. 2) Tough luck. If you're out because someone else crashed into you, that's too bad. If you caused the accident - expect punishment from the FIA. 3) Generally, they're all racing each other, even if they're on the same team. Whilst it's frowned upon / illegal, sometimes teams race tactically to ensure that one of them gets the best finish. Team orders on the radio are monitored, so punishment will come if teams are colluding.
Thanks. But that's not the reason why I used game footage. Liberty Media are SUPER ANAL about anyone using broadcast footage and will block any video doing so. Hence forth. Thanks again bro.
There were quite a few mistakes in this video. 1.refueling isn't allowed (althou it used to). 2. Penalty where time is added to your total time isn't called a drivethru penalty. A drivethru penatly is a thing of it's own. ...and there are tons and tons of other rules in f1. I understand that putting everything in a 1 YT video would have been imposible but to everyone that wants to know more about this sport I'd say that f1 is probably the most complicated sport in terms of rules out there
How about a rule explained movie on sports that has really lots of various trials, such as athletics, indoor swiming or artistic gymnastics? These sports actually have so many différent trials that you could make the videos treating of them in several parts...
I have used to watch F1 very often but several rule changes all over the years made it worse and not fun for me to watch. Nice to see a in-game footage of F1 2018. Btw I hate Liberty Media.
Before i moved on to indycar i was a nascar fan before i realized that the racing was not fun. So then i moved on to formula racing hoping for it to be fun but nope not at all and i quit watching it in just 2 day after i got into it. So im now a indycar fan and i like it but it could have been more fun.
also, a penalty that adds time to your total time is not a drive through. a drive through is when you have to drive the full length of the pit at the speed limit within a number of laps. you're thinking of a time penalty
Hey, I know people may not think this is a sport, but drum Corp is very physically demanding and it also has competitions like DCI (Drum Corp International) and indoor drum corp, like WGI. It would be cool, to explain the scoring system, since there are many categories for scores.
