“Used to be…?” The air grows cold around Todd as he realizes that mists start to creep at his back, as Chris burns embers into his very soul for his transgression.
I have been looking forward to the Feywild for ages. Its a great back drop for stories like Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz and Labyrinth. Thank you for covering it Todd.
I’m really hoping for some awesome new “monsters” in this adventure. 5e has been sorely lacking in powerful fey that aren’t hags. I’m very excited for this book!
My very first game of D&D played in the summer of 1979 we encountered Leprechauns and one of the fighters drew his sword to try to intimidate it for its gold, only to have it polymorphed into a venomous serpent. He nearly died as the tiny men giggled their delight. I was the cleric, and had to decide if saving my party member would get me on the little pest's bad side... I ended up saving the fighter. I remember thinking how crazy it felt that these fey creatures were just having fun and were simultaneously deadly. Ever since that first game I've really wanted to return to the fey... and sadly subsequent versions of D&D have just ignored it... til now. Super excited!!
" But, .. but .. but .. if you ever eat anything in the Feywild we won't be able to return home ! Dude what are you doing ?" Guy mowing down on the cookies, " I live in NYC, I had no interest in return to a world under threat of nuclear war & climate change." " Thank you very much, I would like a cookie."
I can't wait to see the Heroes of the Demiplane visit here, I hope TJStorm returns as Keen, and also the Todd Bowie Archfey as well, maybe we can get Todd Lord of Darkness next with Todd in costume for the stream. There could even be a special crossover with the Mighty Niens Jester, Fyord, and Artagen.
I wish this book was out now! Our D&D campaign just went to the fey wild. One of the PCs is looking for his father, an elf who crossed over from the fey wild to the prime material plane during a battle, where he went raping and pillaging leaving a bastard half-elf son in his wake. This PC wishes to "confront" his father (he's out for revenge). The whole campaign is based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld, in which elves come from the fey wild and can only cross over if somebody opens a portal from the prime material side - which a few young witches did accidentally in the book Lords and Ladies.
We once played a campaign in a modern setting that featured the fae heavily and there was a big focus on the rules, specifically the one of hospitality. We once stumbled into the realm of a winter fae and she demanded reparations for this intrusion. We were stuck fulfilling favours until we actually managed to overpay so badly that we gained a permanent ally in her. This book sounds like a real cool way to get back into that sort of campaign.^^
Domains of dread are in the Shadowfell, they are pockets of the Shadowfell. Domain of delight would be the same. Pockets of the Feywild ran by someone specific.
I made my feywild natural world the size of plants and insect in the movie honey I shrunk the kids. And any spell cast over 1st lvl has different effects. Gargantuan insects that have hundreds of hp. Formorian armies
I believe that you can decide if your fairy is a brownie, pixie, sprite, ect. Whether they are mechanical differences like subraces for Fairy or just flavor text remains to be seen.
