I think leaving one or two legs untied would be the way to go then as bigger animals can indeed leave u with serious injuries and Allah knows best

The sunnah is to put the foot on their sides. Sunan Ibn Majah 3120 Narrated Anas "The Messenger of Allah used to sacrifice two horned, black-and-white rams and he would say the Name of Allah and pronounce His greatness. I saw him slaughtering them with his own hand, putting his foot on their sides."

That is easy, the problem happens when you sacrifice a cow. What then? It becomes a safety issue.

@@MuskyPirate the animal is not going to just let you slaughter it. it needs to be restrained somehow.

also there is possibility of it standing up, if not tied up and in the nervousness it might even run and cause havoc
