Here's a tribute about one of my favorite movies : "The Russia House" (1990) directed by Fred Schepisi, starring Sean Connery and Michelle Pfeiffer, from the classic book by John le Carré. For the first time, I haven't used photographs for my tribute but movie clips. I hope it will succeed in showing the wonderful atmosphere of both the book and the movie and their unforgettable characters like Barley, Katya, Ned, Dante and Harry Palfrey (who was not in the movie but never mind). The music is the main theme of the movie by Jerry Goldsmith played by the City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra. Well, I'm glad I did it and comments are very welcome indeed !

a truly magnificent score. One of the finest ever. Oscar nominators were definitely asleep at the wheel for missing this one. And of course, the brilliant screenplay by the incomparable Tom Stoppard. Beautiful ending too with Branford Marsellis at the helm. One of my favorites is Barley recognizing her and explaining it away by saying that she was Russia's answer to the Venus de Milo.

last 5 minutes of this movie, when katya and barley met, are some of the best I had ever seen ... It would be great having a new tribute of the full final sequence ... anyway congratulation ... very nice tribute.

The love scenes of Sean Connery are powerful. Despite his age he carries the romance with a younger woman. The musical score is equal. to his performance.

She isn't that much younger in the book. He's about 48 or so; she's 36. Which isn't that big of a difference as you get older. But she was even younger than Goethe (in 1968, when they first became lovers, she was 16 and he was 30).
