Today, June 12th, 2024, Tivoli Gardens is celebrating the 110th anniversary of the Rutschebanen. Built by Valdemar Lebech and the L. A. Thompson Company and opened on June 12th, 1914, the Rutschebanen is the first coaster built by Valdemar Lebech. On June 30th, 2023, the Rutschebanen was designated an ACE Coaster Landmark. The ride is an ACE Coaster Classic. The Rutschebanen is the world's 3rd oldest roller coaster, the oldest coaster in Europe, one of only 11 surviving side-friction coasters, one of only 9 surviving scenic railways, one of only 3 surviving coasters built by Valdemar Lebech, one of only 2 surviving coasters built by the L. A. Thompson Company, and the last surviving coaster built in 1914.
