RZA could actually do one documentary about martial arts film and culture, one documentary about the 5% Nation and Black American empowerment culture and one documentary about '70s Soul music. That's why the Wu Tang has so much depth and artistic substance to it. Knowledge!!!
Rza he is genuinely inteligent! I love how he used to be a nerdy about kunf fu when he was a boy, and took his passion to his music when an adult, and made it look cool like no one could.
Yeah he speaks so eloquent. Perfect sentence structure and his words are capable of moving mountains. Such a colorful vocabulary. You dumb bitch, this nigga ignant.
My first experience with Shaw movies was around '81-'82. I remember channel 4 would play a quick teaser commercial for Friday night black belt theater. It was Five Deadly Venoms. I had no clue what the movie would be like, but I recall just that little quick scene with some old bearded priest in a temple made me HAVE to stay up for it. Damn I was not disappointed. All these years later, I'm still a fan of the classic kung fu flicks.
If u where kid in the 80's it was your DUTY to watch at 3pm channel 5 n watch the drive through kung fu movies. I ONLY collect shaw Brothers Kung fu movies also.
No doubt,Cosmic. You know about that Live Era.Ha,ha.Check out My Channel when you get the chance.I used to go to the Double Features, too.WNEW T.V.aka CHANNEL 5.
RZA♥ He mentions escapism. Its true. Me & my sis. We watched whatever kind of kung-fu/martial arts movies that we could catch. Mostly on tv. But it was good. It was fun but it definitely means something to you. RZA explains that bit exactly. You get older- then- it clicks! The principals and whatnot. Later on- Wu Tang (the group) meant a lot to us because we were not alone in this sense- and other ways. But the intelligence that comes from these fellas was something special. Still is. There is heart there. Just like the principals of martial arts. WuTang forever. My sister Starr. Eternal. We still believe. ♥
The good ol days saturday noon, we start the day playing stick ball THEN every adult and kid will run into thier houses by 3pm to watch channel 5 drive in theatre kung fu movies. Then by 5 pm every kid will come out kicking chopping at air!! Lol
The Rza and the Wu Tang Clan are just so cool. Im more of a rocker type fan but Wu opened my eye to Hip hop. Glad Rza is making "The Man with the Iron Fists".
He first made a film (thats still unreleased as of now) called "Bobby Digital: The Movie" back in 1998. The first Bobby Digital album was the soundtrack for that movie. I have a short film called "Domestic Violence" on VHS from 98 that has a 3 minute trailer of the unreleased BD movie on it...as well as seeing extra footage here and there online. Maybe one day, my friends...maybe one day...
I was the same as a kid. kung fu movies were golden for me. I could not stop watching them. im still obsessed with em. So greatful for wutang and martial arts. I would love to be a stun man for RZAs movies. Good video.
Brilliant interview, it's amazing that he went from watching to creating films with Gordon in. It makes me want to watch it again right now and I've not seen it in years. I love the fact he also says he wants to be the toad from 5 venoms haha I think everyone who watches that wants to be him.
Rza knows theres more to history than just black history, because most can't see past slavery. That's why everyone respects him! Im definitely backing up "The Man With The Iron Fist"
im so glad i was born in 1985. 10 years or so later, i might be watchin a nicki minaj video right now. everyone who grew up in the 90s listenin to groups like wu tang should feel lucky. if you havent seen the 36th chamber of shaolin you should check it out, too.
Man, RZA could operate on your brain, among many, many other things. I for one, am ok with RZA doing big screen or whatever other path he takes. He's the Abbot.
man, rza is pretty intellectual. if you think rap music means nothing and has nothing behind it.. then you are looking in the wrong places. there is SO much rap out there that means nothing it is crazy. people like "soulja boy" are just a humiliation to what rap music is and can be.
i used to go to a theatre in boston around the same time as rzas experience called the publix theatre , it was a piece of shit 5 for about three movies . rats running down at your feet i remember those days
RZA, please stay aaway from the big screen. you completely fucked up californication season 5 and the man with the iron fist is a hidious piece of film. Please stay with music
