Review of my 2006 Saab 9-7x. I've owned this car for 3.5 years and put 30k miles on it, mostly via cross-country trips between Texas and Montana/Idaho with many destinations in between. Use by permission only.
The hood gap is because the plastic retainers beneath the bumper are broken off. Happens to these a lot, also your headlights have to be on for the washers on them to work
I always loved the 9-7x and finally bought a 4.2 with 100k miles 2 years ago and it still looks almost brand new. Other than change the fluids, brakes and thermostat, has been a wonderful, dependable vehicle. Oh, I did change the rear Saab badge as well- If you notice, most 9-7's have worn out rear badge but since being replaced, I make sure mine stays out of blistering Texas summer heat so should last for years. Highly recommend the 9-7x, I will probably keep mine forever. Wish I could get an Aero version as well!
LOVE your vid. Thanks SO much for sharing. I'm in the process of buying a '05 9-7 on Fri same color blue. The test drive was AMAZING & I was honestly shocked to see the ignition in the middle! 😍💖🤓
Congratulations! One thing to check before buying is the rear air suspension. Go look at the car after it has sat overnight. If the back end is on the ground the air suspension needs replaced and it's not cheap. Mine had that problem so I replaced it with standard springs myself to save money.
I have the 2007 Altitude edition. 500 of them made which I didn't realize until I was stopped on the street and told how rare it was. I am putting the finishing touches on the suspension, new air springs, shocks and struts. I'm in Northern Oh if anyone is interested in it. very good shape.
altitude edition isn’t rare bruh it’s the 4.2/5.3 dressed up in a different trim the 6.0 was the rare one with between 500-600 produced during its 2 year run
5:52 That's a good idea lol. I love Saabs and these especially! I actually looked at getting a 9-7 WHILE back lol, but I decided I didn't need a SUV lol. If I had to bring back a dead GM brand or any other dead brand in general, it would be Saab. This review was also fantastic. Miles better than mine!
I have loved saab for a while and my grandfather used to be a car mechanic in I believe the 80s for Saab. Saab 9-7x may not be a real saab but it's still the best SUV out of the variants.
About a month ago I bought a 2008 9-7x with the 5.3 V8 and 114k miles. Fully loaded. Nav, rear DVD, HID headlights. Its needed some work but nothing crazy and so the price reflected that. Even right now on Autotrader, all that have the same or lower miles are priced much higher. What really surprised me is how quiet it is driving around the crap roads here in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Ive been passenger in a multiple Trailblazers and one Bravada and Ive driven a Rainier a few times. The Saab is a different beast. I feel like the other models just meander and float from point A to B while the Saab is more engaging to operate. Until this 9-7x I never really appreciated thigh support. I absolutely love the comfort level of these seats. But even on low the heated seats are quite aggressive. I drove an 03 Grand Prix GTP and id have to stretch and hear bones crack after exiting. And this was only a 30 minute drive. I feel quite fine after long trips in the Saab. My fiance drives a brand new 2019 Equinox LT and id much rather travel in the Saab. The other comments are correct, the headlights need to be on for the light washers to operate. The comments about your cup holder are also correct. It shouldnt spin like that. It folds out and the ring turns itself horizontal. When you push it back in the ring tilts vertical. Most are broken anyways. Somehow mine isnt. Super simple to replace. Pop the trim, unplug the connector for the buttons and its just 2 screws. In case you come across one in a junk yard. Part # 25916574. Actually looks like its also in the Saab 9-5.
No problem. I work for 1AAuto.com and spend all day looking at and comparing auto parts for pricing and exploring similar fits is my job. So if you do decide to go to a salvage yard and pull a working 9-5 cup holder let me know if it fits. It will be good information to know in case mine decides to break. Thanks.
Great review and love you user name. I have an 09 4.2 plated "SAABLZR" LOL and speaking to everyone that YES it is based on the Trailblazer/GMT-360 Mr. P
Went to get windshield replaced at a great shop, and the did not believe me that it was a GM produced/GMT-360 Windshield installed with "in stock" parts and only ~$220, not worth the claim on insurance. LOL
Chris Fix keychain on a Doug Demuro style review. Nice! Gonna have to own it for awhile at only 30K miles every 3.5 years to reach that 300K+ mileage. I'm over 46K on the Fiesta at over 2.5 years ownership. I've put quite a lot of miles on it in the past year though.
Yea my gas mileage always sucks but hey AWD V6 gets me around just fine 187k miles. Hood gap problems ✔️ electrical problems with light and washer switches ✔️ favorite color green 💚 I tend to drive with the advanced stabiltrak off 😅 that cup holder is better a ash tray holder. I wish it came with the complete manual
Headlight spray washers dont turn on everytime you wash windows its every couple times you wash windshield they spray. We have two of those Saabs and learned all tricks.
Once Upon a Dashcam I noticed that they only come with HID lights. Compared with many 9-7x and every single one that HID has sprayer and ones without them didnt have it. Dont know if was like that in 2006 but from 2007 to 2009 was like that.
Where did you get the replacement keys/fobs cut and programmed? I am purchasing a 9-7X aero in the morning that only has 1 original key/fob and would like to obtain a spare, and have been having no luck finding info about this on googl
Once Upon a Dashcam there’s probably something super tiny inside of it. They break a lot though. Mine will hold a McDonald’s medium cup or smaller just dubs
Interestingly Cadillac and Pontiac never made their versions of the Trailblazer. Especially Cadillac. Their version of the Trailblazer would compete nicely with the Lincoln Aviator at the time. Now would be a good name for it?
Did you say quirks and features? Better not let big daddy Doug Demuro catch wind lol that's his whole thing. Seriously though good video really interesting and informative. And that rear tv screen in the middle is a very stupid place to put it
I know this video is extremely old, but my cupholder in both of my 9-5's work flawlessely, i suppose american drinks may be bigger in size though, eitherway you can pretty much have any soda in my car and it won't tip over
