I have one for you ladies that I saw on a video short. "Girl in car: You're giving me a ticket!? Officer: Yes Ma'am. Girl: Do you know who my father is? Officer: Didn't your mother tell you?" Lenny that quilt belongs in a show. It's so gorgeous.
I have sure laughed a lot today. It was hilarious when Lenny leaned over to Roberta to welcome her to the husband retirement all day. And I have to say I enjoyed myself immensely. Thank you
Glad to see you! Acorns and threads was my lns. I moved to Nevada 4years ago. I lived in Gresham Portland for 11years. I spent many a hour there. So many wonderful pieces. I stitched Prairie Schooler santas 12 days of Christmas. I had a quilt made of them.
Re:Grandmothers's Garden: Wowie Linnie! I have the beginning of one my Mum and sister worked on YEARS ago. It's done w/out the hexagon form. It's done with the fabric circle then folded into the hexagon. Needless to say, it is a major W I P!! Great video!!! Luv you two gals!!!
Hotter than Heck here too! So humid. Love the quilt Linnie! So many projects so little time! I need to get American Welcome back out for the 4th. I didn’t get far. Happy 4th yall! 🎉
Your videos are full of happiness 😊 I have 2 PS Santa patterns I got last year, I was new and the 1st one 'just fit' on the aida I cut, oops. So now that I have learned how to calculate size I will try the next 1. I also quilt & have started making a Hexi quilt. I use a punch & freezer paper for my shapes. Thank you for sharing your projects, all beautiful. Happy Stitchin' from Essex 🇨🇦
Nice to see you both 'Oh, so pretty'! Good smiles, memories, and stitching. Now we've seen your gorgeous garden, Roberta, it is extra nice to think of you working there. And Linnie, your Grandma's Garden quilt is inspiring.
Yall are a hoot! The quilt is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the hexxies! I have always wanted to attempt a quilt but……..now I’m back to cross stitching so? Happy 4th
Linnie your quilt is beautiful. I have some hexies going for a table runner. Nice portable project. Working on my first prairie schooler Santa. I will be doing more.
Love watching your videos. Feels like a visit with old friends. Funny I was working on my flower garden quilt as I watched, I just hand stitch hexes together old fashion way but really like the way yours looks. My church quilting group plans to quilt this one for church auction next year. I am getting close to finishing top. I find hand piecing so relaxing.
Love you gals. LOVE your Grandmothers FLOWER garden quilt top. That’s been on my bucket list since I started quilting back in 2000. Very clever method of hexie templates.
Nice visiting with you and laughing with you. Sorry you had such a time with your stitching, Roberta. Love the penny embroideries and the quilt, Linnie. 💜 - Connie
Stitched the alphabet on a sampler, realized I had left out the letter L so I had to rip out all the letterrs after K so I could put in the L.😥 Love you gals!
Always enjoy your Flosstubes. You ladies are so much fun. I’ll be picking my PS Santa’s back up to stitch XMAS in July. I alternate between a few projects. TFS.
I love watching your channel and seeing all of the beautiful projects you are working on. I about died though when you said you have an abundance of black snakes!
Roberta, I feel your pain regarding “miss” counting leaves on a border and missing an entire section of a house! After finishing Hannah Elliott earlier this year, I noticed I made a mistake in the border…thought I could just let it be but, it’s too noticeable for me. So, I’ll be spending my time frogging and redoing the border! Linnie, that quilt is amazing! I’ve never quilted - but that looks a bit difficult - or maybe I don’t have patience! Thank you both for taking the time to do this flosstube - always good to watch you!
I know they talk about distracted driving….im a violator of distracted stitching. It’s never worth it….the frog loves my distracted stitching. Beautiful stitching and embroidery, as always! Happy 4th of July!!!
Loved this video, the Grandmother quilt is so beautiful. Roberta, I was wondering what design is the "America" pillow that is in your china cupboard behind you??
Hi Jan. Thank you for watching. I purchased my templates at a quilt shop. I did look on Amazon and it looks like they carry them also. It is so relaxing to work on them. Enjoy your summer ❤😊
I had so much fun with you ladies today! Roberta, I’m so sorry that you’ve been visited by the frog on your projects! I agree that when you spend so much time to do a project, it doesn’t take that long in the grand scheme of things to frog and re-stitch. I am working on Oh Joyous Day and had to frog out the over one when I tried to stitch in May instead of June. I was done with the an and y, and started to put in my M, found it would not fit and was running into the letter E. Frogging over 1 isn’t much fun! Anyway, your stitching is aways gorgeous! Linnie, your PS Santas are darling and will make such a beautiful quilt! Your EPP of grandmother’s garden is gorgeous!! Best wishes to Mason as he prepares for going away to college! Do you really think he will ever use the Dustbuster?? LOL!
Yes, I agree on your frogging comment! I too started doing some one over one stitching on Oh Joyous day that I had to frog. I want to put in initials for each of the grandchildren and wasn't happy with my first attempt.
So jelly of all the retreats you are having ladies ❤ I m thinking of joining Lindy Stitches virtual retreat but need to double check with the time, I m afraid it will be all night long for me here 😢
Thank you for another fun video. Love our visits and hearing about your families and stitching. It has been terribly hot and humid here in No. Virginia, too. It's a good excuse to stay in and stitch (and clean and cook) and watch Floss tube. Take care and Happy Stitching1
I just can't seem to get into a routine this summer where I have a big block of stitching time in the afternoon, but that's when it would work best for me!
Happy 4th! 🎉. I also am working on American Welcome by PSS. Seems like a quick stitch, but so much counting at the top and the bottom is dense. It will take awhile for sure. Felt bad you were both frogging - that is the worst. Hope this stitching stretch is free from counting errors!! Hugs
It's always a pleasure to see you both and to catch up on what you're doing. The intro photos are just beautiful. Wips are so pretty with lots of frogging this time. Must be the heat. Lol. I know I'm doing my fair share here, too. The quilt is gorgeous! Have a good few weeks of stitching, enjoy Summer, and safe travels to Roberta. ❤
You can wear your new black t-shirts on the 13th. Is she going to sell them, I'd love to have one. I love to hear your personal updates. RU-vid is a nice memory keeper for you. Someday I hope to be able to handle a "big girl" project... your Serenity caught my eye today. Thanks for the fun!
Hi Denise. Yes her Etsy is called Stitching Goddess and you can buy in different colors. Thank you for watching and your kind comments you are so right about Flosstube. And it being a good memory keeper. Have a great summer ❤😊
Great episode! We too had a very hot wedding. My partner’s son got married in our backyard on the Summer Solstice at 4:30 in the afternoon. It was 95° that afternoon. But it was beautiful and eventually as the sun went down it cooled off some. Happy Stitching ladies!
Another fun video ladies 😅 I couldn't believe when you showed the Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, I was actually stitching a hexie flower!!! It's hard to spread love to all the projects we want to do!!! 🪡🧵
I enjoy your floss tubes together! I wondered if you could tell me what the pattern is in the cabinet behind where you and Lindy sit. America land that you love. I would appreciate it. Thankyou Sue chavanne
You girls are so funny. Roberta I hope you have a lot of fun with Claire. Lenny you go girl on your paper piercing. Tiger lily and antique needle worker are going to start a quilt and I have never done it but I am going to try it. I wish you both a Happy 4th and be safe. Love you both
Enjoyed the video as usual. Lennie, your hexagon quilt is so pretty. Years ago I saw a quilt at the Houston Quilt Show made with the hexies and I got all gung ho and bought all the stuff. I didn't get very far. Lol. But I did see the box the other day in my sewing room so you have inspired me to go pull it out and see if I can at least make a modified version of the quilt I saw. Happy stitching ladies.
I had such a nice visit with you today watching your video. Your stitching and projects are so beautiful and you are both so inspiring. Thank you so much for another great video.
Love your channel! Linny I feel you & I have so much in common! And when you showed your beautiful Grandmothers Flower Garden I knew we are kindred spirits! I never comment but after seeing your that quilt I knew I had to reach out to you, I am a quilter also, Would you be so polite to tell me how to get in touch with you outside the video comments?
We've just had a week with a lot of rain and a little flooding but know it's been worse up north. My sister was doing a Mississippi River cruise and it was terminated at St. Louis due to all the flooding.
Hi Pat. Thanks for sharing too I 0:22 think the plastic templates are so much easier and I like you can reuse them and don’t sew to paper but that’s my preference. Thanks for watching and see you in a couple of weeks. Happy summer ❤😊❤😊
It was good to see you both today. Roberta it was very nice to meet you at Acorns and Threads, and it was so nice of you to take the time to talk to everyone of us there and check out what we were stitching on. Particularly when you were short on time! Have a good couple weeks coming up.
Roberta, so happy to hear that you enjoyed the willamette valley wineries. You were close to where I live. It is so wonderful that you were able to visit Acorns & Threads. Yes, we have terrible traffic. Beautiful quilt, Linnie!! Happy 4th!!
I am so envious of people with beautiful drifts of annuals, daisies and coneflowers. Is there a point where you have too much for the rabbits to eat? Doesn't seem I've reached that yet.
Hi Brenda. Thanks for watching. I am using country vintage mocha 25 count on the mottled side. I wanted to use the bigger count so when I start my quilt it will fit the bed as a coverlet and they stitch up quickly. If you have any other questions please let me know. Prairie Schooler patterns are the easiest to read. Happy summer and happy stitching ❤😊
Hey sweet friends, So good to see you both again. My stitching time is so limited these days and I really treasure the time for a video visit to see what you both are up to. Have a fabulous 4th and keep on stitching! xoxoxo
I have such sympathy for you with a husbands retirement. Funny story on my husbands first full time day at home. First he wanted to know if I had a 3 ring notebook for him. Being used to having a secretary who helped with everything. Then he asked what our fax number was. The next comment was “ did you know the dryer is crooked!” And all this time I am trying to work, and thinking to myself “Oh my!” And then he wanted to know what was for lunch! We still laugh about this years later! I hope to hear your stories too! Love listening to you ladies and Linnie your glasses are fabulous.
Thank you for sharing. When my husband retired the first thing I told him that this wasn’t a restaurant. I only cook one meal a day and it depends on when im hungry. Haha. They come up with the darn dear questions. Oh well better and for worse right?
My first job was working at law firms and used to have dreams I was married to my boss because I did so much for him, so I know why your husband felt a little lost! I love my quiet mornings so that will be a challenge.
You two just make me laugh out loud!!! Love watching and admiring all your stitching. You are enabling me to accumulate more stash, keep up the good work!
We all love seeing all the pretties out there, don't we? I have to admit I have not been buying much cross stitch since I've been concentrating on my gardening, but I'm sure that will change soon with another needlework market in the wings.
"Smalls" are good for that Accomplished Feeling, and agree they make great quick little gifts. I'm "off" one stitch on 36 count linen, and frogging while watching, it makes it less painful. Cute wool (or are they felt) pennies. Awesome Quilt, you're So crafty!! Fun Video, Happy 4th.
Hi Dee. Yes I like working on smalls and getting that finished feeling especially if you have been working on hard projects. The Little pennies are wool. I worked on the project while my sister was having chemo. I want to finish it but it reminds me of that time. I’ll get there. Thanks for❤😊 watching. You are a true viewer. Have a happy summer
Lennie I just finished my grandmothers flower garden that I worked on for 20 years. All hand pieced but I machine quilted it I never would get it finished. Enjoyed your videos keep up the great job.
Oh Beverly. How awesome. I’m sure it will be that long until I get it quilted but it was such a labor of love. Congratulations on getting yours done. Happy summer ❤😊
Hello - enjoying your floss tube. Linnie - I understand! I had taken care of my cataracts about 2 years ago and wow what a difference. I can see so clearly now and doing 40 ct, 36 ct is more comfortable though. As soon as you are ready, you won’t regret it! (The only problem is you may even want to do over pieces because you will see much better - I knew I was having hard time stitching before but now - WOW!). Wish you luck on this. Roberta - I retired 2 years ago and had a hard time retiring because I liked to work but.... now I enjoy the day and do as much stitching as I want! and loving it! Love your floss tube and you both are inspiration. Thank you. Monica from Florida
Hi Monica. Thank you for watching and your kind comments. Also thanks for letting me know how your cataract surgery went. I have to admit I’m a little nervous but for those who have had it done it all sound perfectly wondrous to be able to see those little holes. Congrats on your retirement. Isn’t it wonderful. Enjoy your stitching and your summer ❤😊
Glad your cataract surgery went so well. I know that's in my future as well, but thinking about going with the progressive lens like my husband did. I adjusted to retirement super fast, but between my hobbies, volunteering, exercise and travel my days are pretty full. It is definitely more of a challenge for my husband so far.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned for Linnie that Olivia of Pumpkin Hollow was doing the Liz Matthew’s pumpkin piece but changing the bottom to crows. I was wrong, it was Steph of Lindy Stitches and she showed it on her last FT
Roberta, I live in the Willamette Valley and the correct pronunciation is Will- lamb- et. I think the winery story you told was about a man who was a childhood friend & neighbor of mine. We grew up in Lodi, CA. As a child I lived in a house owned by his grandparents. It was located in the families grape vineyard. Steve & his sister lived just down the road from us.
Wow. Isn’t it a small world. I can’t wait for Roberta and I read your comment. Thank you for watching and sharing your story with us. Take care and happy stitching ❤😊
I'm sorry to hear that the frog had to visit both of you. Hope your next couple weeks are full of frog-free stitching. Linnie, I'm stitching BBD America as well and had to change all the colors too. I am also using Claypot for the shaded red and I really like how it looks.
Hi Marla. Oh thanks for sharing. I’m Glad the clay pot is working. I haven’t done enough to really tell but we must think a like. Thanks. Have a great summer ❤😊
Another entertaining day watching you both. Linnie, those red specs are SO you, both in color and shape and of course, it is your personality that makes it so right. A question to you both: do you stitch in hand, on a hoop or q-snap or on a stand? Roberta, how do you wrangle all of the fabric in your samplers? I hope the beastly weather there abates and the snakes and bunnies find new places to dwell.
Hi Davi. Thank you for watching and your kind comments as always. I love my red glasses. I kind of feel sassier in them if that’s possible. Haha. I am always a hoop stitcher. It’s easier on my arthritis than stitching in hand but even if I did stitch in hand I prefer the look of the stitches when I’m in a hoop. We had a little breather with our temp today but I think the humidity is higher than the temp. Oh well it is July and I can swim or stay cool inside. Have a great Sunday and happy stitching ❤😊❤😊❤😊❤😊❤
I do use a hoop. I've tried Q Snaps and for me they were hard to hold. I usually don't have a huge amount of fabric and, as soon as I'm sure of the borders have been trimming off excess linen. I had three rabbits hanging around when I was working in the yard last night. I tried chasing them off but they did not seem to be very intimidated by me or my presence.
Linnie, that is a beautiful keepsake quilt! Really enjoy hearing about what's been going on with you two sweet ladies and of course all your stitching is beautiful. Thank you!
Thank you for your sweet comment. My kids know that quilt is my legacy. I am very proud of it and hope to get it quilted this year. Happy summer and happy stitching ❤😊❤😊
Love the laughs and all the beautiful stitching on this Sunday afternoon. I worked on Vince’s Christmas stocking in great company. Thank you for sharing, my friends.
Such a wonderful project! Maybe one of these days I'll make some for the grandkids. Thank you for spending time with us and for your constant inspiration.
Hi Christine. I always keep my floss on the brown tags I get on Amazon. If I use a new drop I will return it back to the brown drops so if I use the same color for another project they might be different. I don’t mind a different floss drop I just like a similar size. I hope that makes sense. If not I will cover it on our next video. Thank you for the question. We love questions. Happy fourth and happy stitching ❤😊
The one that says America was stitched on 36 ct Abecedarian with WDW Michaels Navy, Fathom, Cattail, Cayenne and CC Hazelnut. Love having it out at this time of year!
Always enjoy you ladies! Roberta, keeping the garden going in this heat is a consuming job. Linnie your penny pillow piece is wonderful! But your Grandmother’s Flower Garden - is gorgeous! My mother made one for me as a wedding gift, some 44 years ago. Funny, she was probably stitching on it when I was in KC for a year of school and got married at the end of that summer. That is a real treasure! So I have a couple of questions. When you take your stitches out do you pick them out so you can reuse the floss or do you snip the floss off? And when you (or any of you viewers) use floss stops how do you then store your Dmc? Happy 4th all, 🇺🇸🗽🍉
Thank you Christine. Your mother’s quilt has to be a real treasure. What an awesome heirloom. To answer your question , when I frog I try to save thread if is a variegated thread but it depends on the count. If it’s on 28 it’s not too bad but if it’s on say 36. I usually lose the floss and have to snip. Thread will only take so many times of going in and out to d fabric. I’m not sure what a floss stop is. You have me on that one. I’m not sure about Roberta. She works on a higher count. I have to ask. What is a floss stop? Thank you for sharing and your kind comments. Happy July 4th ❤😊
Linnie, you are always so wonderful about replying! My real question is then how do you then store the tags. Sorry for being a pill, but I’m trying to figure out a new storage option. I really only have/use Dmc. Thanks so much.
@@Christine-ix7tp oh I’m sorry. I store my DMC on big floss rings on a rod in a closet. I have them on the brown tags from Amazon in numerical order. I group each ring from low number to like 04-300 then 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 and 3,000, 3300, 3700, and 3800 with floss variegated I sort them alphabetically by maker like Weeks, Classic and Gentle Arts. Those are the only flosses I collect. If I splurge and buy and silk it’s usually for a special project but it’s rare. I hope that is more what you wanted. I don’t mind I’m happy to help ❤️❤️❤️
Hello, I’m working on American Welcome while watching and discovered a mistake. 🥴I took out my error, now ready to stitch on. 🧵🪡Hope you girls get lots of stitching time over the next 2 weeks. Take care.😊
