That's a really good point because I forgot all about Mana. I wish she was playable but she may never be over the artwork copyright issues. Even then would Mana really make a huge difference?
@kingmahde1 if mana shows up in MD, i feel like mana should be considered as DM girl in the gy and/or on the field.. then It can be resurrected by salvation to get some defense
As a BEWD Player, it's disgusting that Eternal Soul and True Light are the same card for different archetypes, but ES is far worse because of the way it's written. TL has to go from field to GY, ES has to be removed from field. It's actually unfair for DM players
@@kingmahde1 being able to top a 50-80% win ratio with these before over 20-40%win ratio using my favorites. It's my favorite still for nostalgia like blue eyes but it's hard to pretend like the current meta won't body most of it without a complete set even being run lol. It really is disgusting especially on MD.
Honestly, it's so frustrating. I don't want to strictly play the meta. I want to have fun. In a lot of other types of games, you can have fun while not playing the meta. In this game, it feels like you cannot even have fun with a DM deck. I played DM branded for a while and now playing DM diabellstar. Man, it is so painful. When it works, it COOKS. I was able to get out my circle, soul, dragon knight combo early on and then using and abusing soul and rod and some other stuff, I was able go into chaos angel, guardian chimera, and access code, and it felt incredible...however, unfortunately those moments are few and far between. Not to be negative, but I have no faith that we actually get real dark magician support.
I mentioned this earlier on stream, the casual scene in md is nonexistent. It's either play meta or dont play at all. Truly sad because there's many people who only want to play nostalgic decks but they can't because of the format. I do believe support will come but itll always be 1 step behind.
@@kingmahde1 It’s heart wrenching to say this but I’ve started migrating to Red Dragon Archfiend and Chimera. I played a little DM yesterday and won a few matches but dude, I can’t do it. I still watch Ray Plays Games and LOZA but it’s over for now.
@@brianpeavy1403 First off, I commend you for saying this because I assume it's been as hard for you to come to terms with this DM not playing well in md as it has been for me. I realized 6 months ago when I started playing Heroes and Dinos that DM just isn't able to keep up. Those decks that you and I listed have clear and consistent strategies that set up multiple disruptions and DM in Master Duel just doesn't. All the DM savants and legends deserve all the praise in the world and like I said I'm gonna keep on playing Dark Magician, but man is it ruff these days.
@@kingmahde1 I'll probably play every now and then in casual rank until something drastic changes. Not interested in playing the top meta decks although I do have a DM Snake Eyes deck that plays well and a DM Chaos deck. Doesn't seem right to play Snake Eyes with DM but it works. Goal now is make it to Master 1 with Archfiend and Chimera.
it would be nice to have a new Dark Paladin. Old one can't even be special summoned once it leaves the field. DM needs more support cards like magician's rod and should be able to summon 4-5 monsters in the same turn in the current meta
I totally agree with you. The way yugioh is played means that any deck that can't summon a bunch in 1 turn is going to be behind. Even Rod is far behind because it has to be normal summoned, but like you said we need upgrades to these cards. In terms of Dark Paladin, that's one of my favorite cards of all time. To this day its effect is useful and if we got a retrained version of that...sheesh that'd be crazy!
That's the issue though, dark magician is a fan favorite archetype, giving it meta support would ultimately mean limiting or even banning some cards. banning or restricting cards from a legacy archetype (ie dark magician or BEWD) means less casual players are going to try and get cards because of it. Meaning tons of money lost.
I dont think that's it because Heroes gets plenty of support and has meta relevancy, and despite bans Heroes still saw plenty of play when Stratos was banned and hits to malicious. They can still play and buy the plethora of other support for the archetype. Now the real issue from a business sense may be that most tcg fans already have DM support cards and wouldn't have to buy them unless a major overhaul was done and we got 10-15 new support cards.
If you ever gave up on dark magician I'd probably lose all hope for master duel lmfao, I love that you keep trying to bring DM into the meta. I hope that one day you'll be able to confidently go back an forth with the meta, keep up the amazing work man o7 (#ToonsAllTheWay)

New to master duels and the first deck I’ve been using is DM. I’ve had a lot of fun playing it and enjoy your vids on it. (Also kinda confused with the newer gen cards so I like to stick with DM) love the vids keep it up man

I know what you mean, most meta decks set up 6-8 disruptions and DM will be lucky to do 2. I hate to say it but even with dragoon we'd be irrelevant. Better but irrelevant. It's really a shame DM players get punished because other decks abuse dragoon *sigh*
Make summoning DM the Dragon Knight a 2-card combo instead of a 3-card combo. It's a 3-card combo because DMDK is useless without E-Soul. Also, buff DMDK to protect backrow from banish. Make Salvation activate E-Soul from deck and protect it like DMDK until Salvation itself is removed from the field first. Heck, just that protection effect for E-Soul is better than summoning DMG or DM. Make Rod's effect work from special summoning. Errata Eye of Timaeus so Rod can search it. Make Navigation be able to summon DM from hand, deck, or GY and use its spell/trap negate on the same turn. Make Magicians' Combination summon a DM or DMG from hand, deck, or GY while keeping its old effect. All of these changes would make DM deck playable, maybe even rogue!!!
This is why we need a complete rehaul to the archetype because all the support is outdated and needs to be changed. So the easiest route is to just get all new cards for the deck. The only 2 card combo for Dragon Knight is Branded Fusion and Eternal Soul which is obviously very inconsistent sadly :(
I've always been of the opinion that MD really SHOULD have a "lower powered" ranked ladder; like how Pokemon has tiers with different metas. Keep the one we already have, add another where the meta decks are banned. Brute force people into playing underrepresented decks like giving out gems for winning duels with certain archetypes like "win at least 10x "ninja" cards in your decks. There's so many relatively simple ways to grow a less hyper competitive scene...
I couldnt agree more. The beauty of your idea is it's simplicity because it's very easy for konami to set up...idk why they only want to pay attention to the competitve scene when there's many players who want to play non meta decks. It would help build the player base immensely!
Could be fun. I don't want "edison format" that some people talk about on youtube. I want to experience new cards but I wouldn't mind a more strict ban list that allows ok decks to be more competitive. Your suggestion is not bad but forcing people into playing certain decks is a shit idea. Solo missions are fine because it's a method to introduce people to some type decks and give them rewards for doing missions. You are not losing anything by doing those missions and if you do them you get rewards like cards or currency. Main game missions that force you to play certain decks is a shit idea unless you give huge rewards that are worth wasting your effort on. Not everyone is into ninjas or has good ninja cards.
You keep saying it's a shit idea without saying much as to why. No one is saying it would only have to be ninja cards, it could be any selection of different archetypes each month, and if you dont have or don't play those decks, don't. Im also not saying that only those particular decks would be playable in a lower powered format; all im saying is that Konami should incentivise players to players underrepresented decks for the health of the game. Besides, MD doesn't force you to participate in events if you dont like them, it just rewards those who do. You don't want to play the archetypes, go play on the regular ladder. I genuinely fail to see how giving players more options to play the game is a "shit idea".
@@grimoireweiss5203 Missions are fine but the problem is no one is gonna do them for the reward when the prize from the reward is cards/decks that no one wants to build. A lower rank mode would be ideal for many new and returning players to expand the player base.
There are decks that, for example can set 4 spell/trap cards from deck or special summon from GY 4 or 5 monster (2500-3000ATK!!!) or that abuse of extra deck combo. Decks that when you go second probably dont have a chance of activate a single effect after several minutes waiting your turn and pass with an empty hand and field lol. But wait "we must ban Dragoon cause is too broken". Incredible
DM at Master Duel or Duel Links has the same problem, only support during promo anniversary (useless support). And skills or archetype cards have usually more cost than benefits. You can see it f.e. in "Dark Magicians" not been "This card name becomes "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" while on the field". But Blue Eyes archetype even get tuners!!! much more sinergy an searcheable cards.

I know bro, it's getting sad at this point. The deck is so hard to play competitively and even if we got dragoon it wouldn't be enough. The support we have is so outdated that we have to rely on other decks to give us a boost and that's always risky. One day we'll find a way!
You on the mark about DM and yes we are holding onto a very outdated deck because of nostalgia and Konami don't give a $#@? About DM. I really don't understand it because creating new support for DM would print them money. That gold sarc DM art is beautiful but the effect is mid as hell and I can see toy box doing something stupid like getting souls limited or worse but that's a conversation for another day... Anyway as always keep hope alive my brother and if I come up with the answer I'll be sure to share.
You are so correct with the printing money analogy. People go feral for DM support myself included lol. One day konamis gonna realize that the nostalgic fans would take more interest in the game if blue eyes, dm, etc were meta relevant. Keep me in the loop when you crack the code my guy!

Me too buddy. I hate to say it but even with dragoon the deck struggles a lot. It'll also be frustrating to see dragoon in other non dm/red eyes decks lol.
DM sadly it Will only be meta when the support Is really powerfull, not limited once per turn, the old support needs errata to make then more consistent. Needs more Omni negate boss monsters. Quick effects meta cards, searchable key cards. It needs a meta archetype of his own. I dont understand why Konami fears that DM turns a meta archetype
I saw many koreans using S:P Little Knight in their dm deck and I think this card does help us Right now im just using draw cards to get the dm package and many trap cards like skill drain, There Can Be Only One, rivalry of warlords and others
Sp little knight helps the deck a bit because it gives a disruption, but it's still not enough sadly. Drawing into floodgates is probably the best way to play the deck but a lot of people don't like playing those cards.
@kingmahde1 i tried many decks you had posted before and then went back to just a pure dm deck with upstart goblins and chicken games. People just stop me by using lock bird, feather, ash 😭
@@fiat_lux0 Don't get me wrong, branded/Diabell DM can do well through platinum but once you get to diamond you see the disparity in the ceiling of the deck compared to others.
Ive said it many times in my videos before, I prefer Mahad over Dark Magician Girl most of the time. Being able to get both of chaos angels effects with Mahad is huge!
I really tried it when it first got released...minimal synergy. The chimera engine is pretty big along with a 15-18 card DM engine leaves for not much space for staples and hand traps.

Yeah there's a lot of avenues that the deck can take but the point is konami needs to make it happen. We all know what meta looks like, just needs to be applied to some dm support.

Welcome to Master Duel and the wonderful world of DM lol. I love Dark magician too and I think in the early ranks you can do really well with DM, but once you get to Plat and Diamond it's very rough for the deck. Hopefully by that time you'll be able to build another deck you like. I have a few good starter decks on my channel like gaia or thunder dragon if you wanna see them. They're nostalgic like DM!

@kingmahde1 Well, you can do a much better job than me😅 I'm still a noob. I'm trying with the bystial package and diabelle package but it might be too much. Still testing, but i might cut out the diabellestar. I just noticed that the tier 0 snake eyes require fire monsters so I though I would mess with that attribute
@@allelujah1210 Nahh you got this! Bystials aren't as good in this format because everything is fire, but they do have good synergy with DM. I would suggest keeping the diabell package small (5-6 cards) and maybe cutting bystials.
Love it! I used to play exclusively in Gold and had a blast with different variations of DM. Once i got more competitive is when I realized DM can't keep it up.

I actually the moment I was introduced to Master duel picked Dark magician directly without even thinking about other options. I really love this since I was a child. It's sad that one of the most iconic cards in Yugi is that weak and cannot even compete with other collections. I wait and really wish they fix that, All love and support brother!
Much love bro! I was the same exact way, I played exclusively DM for the first year Master duel came out because it was my favorite deck growing up. On this channel we've tried to push the deck to it's limits and right now I feel like they've been met. Hopefully Konami will bring some viable support one day 🙏
Yea, when you people.over use a deck, that targets cards for being banned. Maybe use other decks now and then instead of spamming branded and DM all over ranked.
