Narcisssism, ego, prestige issues suddenly make the fathers blind coupled with public scrutiny which pressurizes the girl to go through with something against her will and oftentimes mothers become helpless in the patriarchal family setup. Leaving the family becomes a conflicting choice due to several factors. Its impossible to survive as a lone wolf unless you have a good enough job and the confidence to get through.
No it not ignorance, this is just they need to maintain their image. What kind of ppl worried abt some stupid photo , careless abt the hurt child. No one has a right to abuse another individual. We get caught with relations , parents , children etc. We don’t think that we are individuals just connected by birth , allow the other individual to decide what they want. After a point as adults they know what they want , parents can only guide them. Afterwards it’s the individuals decision. Kahlil Gibran’s poem on Children talks abt this beautifully.

Yes the father might have had good intentions. But his concern comes from his own social conditioning and ignorance i.e what HE thinks is good for his daughter. His daughter here is a grown up woman who can make her own decisions and also understands what is truly good for her. Whatever be the case 'coercion' or 'force' is not acceptable. These things form the core of the film. And you are right, she is sad inside and "happy" in the picture just for the sake of the society.
One thing girls should understand your parents are not god or noble good person , they are not but an flawed people who happened to give birth to you.. so girls if you don't understand your parents and take action for your life , your life will not be in your hands ....also you also ruining your husband life who just dream for just simply family and don't make him as a villain because your parents is evil & your incapability to stand for you infront of parents...
