Out of thousands of patients that I work with over the past 11 years, I only met one man (he is on his mid 70’s) who says that he never really wanted a wife/companion. But I find a lottttt of women. I mean a lot.

I was raised by my mother who was a feminist. She taught me to seek a career and not a man because a career is what brings you joy and happiness. She always said that children will ruin your life and make you miserable. I tried it her way in my 20’s and 30’s and I was absolutely miserable. In my 30’s I met my husband and we got married. We are very lucky that we got to have 2 kids and now I’m a stay at home mom. My family is what brings me joy and happiness. They are the dream, not a career. I wish I would have started my family a lot sooner and I wouldn’t have wasted years trying to find joy with a career.
For most of her life, my Mom led a very nice life with my Dad and then later my step dad supporting her. But she armchair quarterbacked her daughters to become feminists. At first, we bought into it, but thankfully realized that true happiness came from creating families of our own.

Its not all women that are like this and people buying into the idea that some women speak for all has been a part of the problem. She is 40 years too late to have come to that conclusion. If she goes to the old folks home she might meet someone her age that might just be as lonely as she is to try to atleast find some sort of companionship in the last years of her life. However the real void that she felt or feels is when she looks around her and she sees families with children and grandchildren and so on. That is what made her sad, she finally realized that the money she made is worthless if she didn't have anyone to share it with.

You can be in pain inside and outside of relationships. You can feel existential emptiness at any time. You only have to look at cinema from not so long ago to see how men really thought of women. Men haven't changed so much so fast, and while men grow hopefully towards more appropriate and respectful partners, there will be this dissonace. It's a hard period to find someone who is GOOD FOR YOU. I am so happy that women have standards and boundaries now, that they have autonomy and freedom. Most people are aware that we need each other. But choosing someone just because of need isn't the answer either. Everyone needs to step up and be honest with themselves. It's not so surprising that almost every family is toxic - because how many people do you really know who don't have toxic behaviours and patterns themselves? We all need to fix ourselves if we want relationships that work. If we want to be able to actually love.

I always loved competing against men because it was fun and I was very good at it. I did not walk with the women's movement, yet my husband and sonn left me... My family was my everything. In all my choices I consider them first at last they all left now in my middle agn they did not choose for me, but chose others above me . But that was my love for them as a wife and a mother. My 80 year old grandma is still around thankfully. And for her age she is thriving. She is the most independent woman you could ever find. And she’s old enough that it actually meant something to be an independent woman when she was younger. It was actually looked down upon back then. Not like how it is today. Anyways, she’s more knowledgeable in tools and blue collar work than most people my age nowadays(25). she used to work on cars, detail them, she rode horses for contests, all kids of crazy things like that. And with all of that said, even with all of that independence, she knew that she wanted kids and she wanted to settle down. Just because you have the capacity to be independent, doesn’t mean you need to constantly be on your own. I’ve noticed that with women. The women who hyper value independence almost always think they have to alone 24/7 to prove to themselves and to others how strong they are. More people need to be content just knowing that they have the capacity to do something without having to constantly do that thing.

I dont genuinely believe that having a partner would have required her to give all of that up. Every woman I know who works in a salon and does well for herself has a partner. My cousin is happily married with 2 children and still does what she loves. I genuinely dont know any women who completely rejected relationships, much less because of feminism. Does anyone else here know someone who did exactly that who can give some insight into how that happens?
I think the core of the issue is what needs to be approached. Women listen to random bullshit on the internet WAY to much. They need to develop who they are and their values themselves. Stop listening to people you don't fucking know on instagram talk about how much this or that sucks and blah blah. Men too are guilty of this and they too need to focus on themselves. If you want to be a person who makes good decisions and life choices it won't come from others. It will come from you making both good and bad choices AND THEN asking yourself why it worked or why it didn't. Learning and them moving forward. I would agree. I wish I hadn’t been pressured into college and a career by literally everyone as a teen/young adult. My own fault for listening, but it was “expected” of me. Now 53, and though I was married (widow now) and tried for children, it never happened. It’s the biggest regret of my life. My own little dream was to get married and have kids. I was also told “you’re too smart to not go to college”. Wish I was smart enough to do what was right for me. (And this is in no way meant to attack others who didn’t want to have kids. It should be up to the person)
A woman cannot do all of that just to prove something to men or to compete with them. She did all those things because she wanted to do them, because she had a drive for success and a passion for what she had chosen to do. She avoided men most probably because she was afraid of disappointment, of getting hurt, of being vulnerable and emotionally dependable on another human being. When you think of it, this is scary and risky for anyone, especially women. But now that she old, she regrets not taking a risk because she realized loneliness can be as scary as taking a risk in a relationship.

I'm a 54yr old disabled homemaker & for many years I was a very hardworking single mother often fighting to move into traditionally men's positions in order to earn better money but working damn hard at it too. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate men & I'm very grateful for my now husband of 25yrs, because he made our struggles easier & has stayed in spite of my inability to work now. I've raised 9 kids & have 15 grandbabies & when we all get together, none of them ever asks about my job successes, they love my cooking, the things I make for them, me being there for them & the way I fought for them as a mother & a grandmother. Women do not compete against, they compete against other women. During the time my husband was active duty in the Corps, I was constantly asked: what do you do for work? You don't have your own money? As you age, you look back and see things you passed up and have regrets to a point. Everything in your life happens for a reason. Learn from each one and move on.
I think people forget why women started to be so aggressively independent in the first place. I would love to be a housewife and not be doing office work but problem is i just can't trust men. I can't fully rely on them and have faith they'll take care of me and my family. Not when I've seen women who have been burned so badly by solely relying on their husbands. What if when you are in your 60s your husband becomes bored of you and gets a younger woman. You'll be penniless jobless with no credentials and will have to rely on other people's generosity. What if your husband is abusive? Or suddenly becomes sick and unable to work? What if he dies? I want to be independent not because I hate men or anything but because i think it's stupid to put all your eggs in one basket. And i know i sound like i have severe trust issues but that's because I've seen these things happen all the time around me. I think it's better to be cautious and be prepared to take care of yourself then dream that you are going to have a perfect fantasy life with an ideal husband to take care of all your needs.
We were each made to compliment the other. And in my experience, wealth is a plus but even then, it's still not something that a man will base a woman's value off of.
It is because in every field, for centuries, women were denied equal ( or any) opportunity. So many women ( in countries around the world) are still denied the same. Not to mention microaggressions even in the "developed" countries that highly achieving women face at work etc. As a result the defence runs TOO hard. It becomes a very competitive, "don't need no man" situation because for too long the mindset has been "as a woman, sit down and listen to the man." It will change when: 1. More women realise this and stop competing. 2. More men understand what women have gone through (or seen their moms go through) and offer support with integrity. It's a collaborative effort that will take time but it needs a genuine love and understanding of the story of both sides and from both sides.
Social Programming. It's part of a long term plan which seems more clear every day. I was shown I could make the "bread"and cook it too. I was the responsible one they didn't have to worry about (always worked). I don't know when THAT became SO IMPORTANT... I fell for it. I should have been with my baby/child... instead of handing her off for others to share the AWAKE and active part of HER day. I realized one day, my young-adult daughter didn't get to hear me converse with others, much,outside our small circle. The HUMAN must be valued over all. We shouldn't have to be away from our children...to e a t or have s h e l t e r.

It's also a divide conquer and control. Women are easily swayed by propaganda, if they are without a masculine presence to see the danger they cannot they will fall for comforting lies.
And don't forget businesses can raise the price of stuff because we are a two income society. Businesses have figured this out about 40 years ago. The price to make most stuff hasn't gone up all that much. The profits have skyrocketed because we can afford more. Now look what that has done.

But she’s ganna be a burden on her husband that’s the issue no woman understand. 90% of them don’t even make it. I use to work for a utility company 80% of the people that would call for our help were elderly single women who never had a man who anyone else. Everyone’s gone and they’re left. Frankly I find them a burden of society

You can't really feel sorry for them. I guarantee you there were tons of nice guys interested in her throughout her earlier years but she scoffed at them for not making as much as her. She's in that position by her own doing.

She still won, you don't have what she has. No one can tell for certain if she had chosen an alternate lifestyle, she would not have regretted not pursuing her career, yes children that she will probably see once or twice a year may not have satisfied her loneliness. ...and there are many women that have family and a career. People that want to push their agenda will point one person, one specific day in their life to make a point!

As a 34 year old woman I bought into it as well but I’ve been lucky enough to get married at 30 and have my first baby at 33. I’m fortunate but also upset that I bought into it for so many years and it affected me in many different ways. I try to educate other young women on it but it’s hard, because everything in our culture screams feminism.
Let me get this right. One one hand you have a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, rumba. All you have to do is some menial cooking (that you have to do for yourself anyway) and spend time with your own children at the zoo, parc, in the yard etc (THAT's opression) . On the other you go to your corporate job 10 hours a day (8 + comute), pay half your income in tax,drop your children with strangers, still have to cook and clean. And repeat that every week till 65... (This is "freadom and independance" ). And this was hard to figure out ??? 😂

To admit that our primary goal is to be mothers and housewives is “embarrassing” because society has made it so. @@ThermicLight that is not it at all, we have always chose Men on their ability to provide for the family, it's just now that society has changed that means what that is has changed. It used to be we wanted the biggest and the fastest as you would be better equipped at hunter gathering. It's stands to reason that now we want the most successful in means as that is now how you would provide for the family. It is not really any different then you Men wanting a Women who is nurturing and caring as that makes for a good person to look after your children and home. This has always been like this since the dawn of Time. However I will concede that today's Women have somewhat gone back on their end of that deal, and want a traditional Man but are not willing or just incapable of being a traditional Women. Unfortunately the biggest society lie is feminism and by the time women work this out sadly it is too late.
