Here’s the funny thing, he had a crossbow, so he might have been able to kill it, even after it took off, if he immediately fired. However, to pull off that reaction, he must have had insane reflexes. Kudos to Gavin for getting a god pace run.

This is when I would like to call "The Brentilda curse", when the runner is on WR pace and just failed the run (choke, bad RNG, bla bla bla) Sizzler: Early bastion leave and then got killed by wither skeleton Illumina: Sub 8 end entry and the dragon perch took forever G4v1ng72: 3 eyes broke, choked the one cycle and didn't able to crit the dragon (man i think there might be a coincidence here)

I don’t think he choked, might just be me looking for correlation but if he had one more pearl, he could have gotten to the fountain faster and one cycle the dragon better or more efficiently

he might still have been able to complete it since the dragon was probably low enough that even with the crystals he still could have killed it with his crossbow since he already had an arrow loaded.

He did have a crossbow and plenty of arrows. He could have saved a 2nd place if he chose to try shooting. I know if the dragon leaves it will start regening, but he had a charged crossbow and dragon was really only 2-4 shots away (the crossbow does have enough durability for that). Point is he had a chance and that to me was a bigger choke.

He should`v made a 1 block extended east west obsidian configuration and then deal more explosive damage to the dragon

There was one way he could have finished the run, Criticals! As criticals deal 50% more damage, if he would have dealt even 1 or 2 criticals using the axe, The run would have gone in his side. He probably didn't think about it as it was such a godly pace and nervousness is common in that kind of situation
