alright maybe the strike zone isn’t EXACTLY knees to hips but it’s only a couple inches higher than that and the strike zone is generally getting smaller as time passes in baseball

That bad debut was a wake up call for Harris. He knew if he didn't pitch better, his dream of playing in the MLB would soon be over. So he worked on his pitching and got better. These guys work too hard and for too long to just let their career get away from them.

Yep! Joe Nuxhall worked his way back up to MLB 7 or so years later and then had a successful 15 year career: 135-117 with sub-4 ERA, 2 time All Star and he even got into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame - the same team he had his infamous debut with.

Earlier this year, there was an Astros pitcher (Blair Henley) making his major league debut against the Rangers, where he grew up. He got the first batter out, and finished the game with only that one out, a 135 ERA, and... no decision because the astros scored 10 runs after that.

I still maintain Charlie Zink's performance on August 12th, 2008 was worse. In his debut, he pitched 4.1 innings, allowed 11 hits and eight runs (all earned), struck out only one batter (Milton Bradley), managed a 16.62 ERA, a game score of nine, and a WAR of -0.3. The Red Sox somehow won the game, 19-17. Zink was so bad that he was left off the Red Sox' 40-man roster and never pitched in the Majors again.

havent seen it all yet, so idk if this is in there, but some Italian born pitcher on the angels made his debut against the mariners this year, had his whole family fly out from italy, just to watch him give up 5 in the first to the 2024 Seattle Mariners lmao

I'm happy that Hogan Harris recovered and prove to the league that he can pitch.Unfortunately the team he pitches for is no longer going to be in Oakland so I don't know how that's going to do for the organization.But i hope they do well in Sacramento leading to 2028 vegas

we've actually already made a video on that game. we called it the WORST debut, which we think is different than the SADDEST (matching a feat only done before by a 15 year old during WWII)
