Absolutely yes, even in cities like Tijuana, Culiacán (Sinaloa) and Reynosa can be safety place if you don't get involved with bad people. just focus on your own business and let other people do his wrong business 😅😅😅😅

Today I had a terrible experience with an expat here in Mexico City, I usually attend a Club to play Tennis and around the club there are houses . It is a gated community and an American expat appeared and suddenly he started yelling at me. He told me that I couldnt park my car in front of his house. I parked my car in the street , I wasnt infront of a parking Spaces. So he was very aggressive . So please if you come to Mexico please respect ya. We welcome you very much but this kind of behaviors are not ok.
There are plenty of US Americans who do the same exact thing here in the USA, acting as if they own the PUBLIC street in front of their house, tell them to pound sand!

I AGREE with what they say about Mexico City - MY FAVORITE CITY in the WORLD!! I live in the Zocalo & I - a 66 years YOUNG solo traveling female on a small amount of Social Security - living there 6 months of the year - & I've ALWAYS felt VERY SAFE there because of the police presence & I don't go to bad areas nor drink, do drugs or anything to attract problems. & I usually wear my backpack on the back unless I'm taking public transportation or in a mega crowded area. I also take DiDi (cheaper & more reliable than Uber). LOTS of the crime in Mexico does NOT affect tourists/expats!! Or good honest - non-rich people!!
I love Mexico City, but he is definitely sugar-coating things. Even Centro, which during the day feels very secure, empties out and gets dicey at night. I have been told by Mexican nationals that the crime statistics are significantly understated. Actually, they said the stats are "made up." I agree with you that his take on Guadalajara is really off. Beautiful city, not a "safest" city. To be honest, I have enjoyed watching Nomad Capitalist in the past, but this video really makes me doubt his information.
Please dont delete my comment again, im from oaxaca and i have the right to speak about my experience. As i said, I live in Oaxaca and most of the Americans i've met were very...rude. One of em, an old man, smashed a book in my chest in a conversation exchange just because i interrupted him by accident. Another one rejected to speak in spanish despite he has living here in Oaxaca the last 15 years, and he have never tried to learn spanish because he lives in a place where there are only Americans "expats" as they used to call themselves (obviously, never inmigrants, of course). Women staring at me like if i was something disgusting, etc. Friends of mine have had similar experiences too. I dont know, i try to be open mind but i have had bad experiences with americans most of the time. Many of em come here thinking that they are intelectualy superior than us, and you can feel it. They come here to taste our food and live Oaxacas culture, but they totally reject the people from Oaxaca. Im not sure if is because most of the population of Oaxaca is indigenous.
I moved from Saltillo to St Louis a few years ago and it's been a big difference for me, now I worry every day for everything here: where do I park, what places I go, what stores I visit, at what time I come back home, who I can and cannot speak, whether if I'm safe speaking Spanish in public, and many other things that people here just normalize
oscaspunkja, you would love the San Franicsco Bay Area, the only real drawback is cost. Although there are areas cheaper than others, especially the East Bay. It's still the San Francisco Bay Area (any county that touches the Bay is the Bay Area), SF is 15 minutes away on BART, but it's probably 20-30% cheaper. Personally I live in Silicon Valley aka The South Bay, it's about as expensive as SF, median home price 1.7 million, but it's home, I grew up here. I share a 1 bedroom apartment for 1000 USD/month. 🙂
I watched his videos also with my gf who disagreed with some of his safest cities. Peter Santenello just did a video on Mexico city on safety, rent etc. My gf lives in Xalapa. She said many small towns in this state dont have police and crime is bad and these states. Her moms town had several males purposely killed by Cartel that did not make the news about 1.5 years ago. Her mom said her town she will not take me too its too dangerous for me to go to.
I watched that guys channel for a bit over covid. It's true he is very informed on a number of international topics, but as you said, he's got a very different level of clients he deals with. They can afford to be safe anywhere in the world they choose to go. He also throws out a lot of opinions based on his beliefs that are not necessarily based in fact. That doesn't do anyone any good. Love the videos but I’m pretty sure you read the crime statistics incorrectly. The comma in Spanish figures is like a period in English. The crime rate is actually 45 and some change per 100k which is definitely high but significantly lower than 50/50 shot of being a crime victim.
I live in Puerto Vallarta. It is very safe here. Unfortunately it is quite high in rent so I may go somewhere else in the new year. Hence why researching where I should go next.
Mexico City as a whole is dangerous, but the city is so large that you will usually be living and working and doing your whole life activities within a specific zone and no its not just the Polanco - Roma - Condesa squares, there are many other nice neighborhoods. Just don't go where you shouldn't and be careful if you use public transportation. Same applies to Guadalajara and it is a lovely city to live in... Tip from a Mexican from Mexico City...
Andrew doesn't live in CDMX very much and wherever he lives, he's always in gated high class communities so his perspective on safety is warped. He has talked highly about Bogota but I know where he lives there... up in a hilly area with all the embassies. Nothing happens up there. Yet he talks highly about safety in Bogota.
I have lived in Roma Norte and Del Valle Norte for 13 years and know many Americans who have lived in these neighborhoods for decades. We all have never been victims of crime. We are not wealthy but we do own apartments and are very happy here. So while you may have statistics to support your argument, people I know and it is dozens, have never experienced crime here.
I used to work with youth that had committed crimes. Many lived in poor neighborhoods, and would pick people in Colonia Del Valle to rob them. They traveled to better neighborhoods, because they would find people with more money.
I work here and commute every day. There is crime here but if you take precautions, like you should in any large city, it is generally safe. It is also true that I do not frequent the night life scene so this greatly reduces your exposure to crime. Additionally I have a car and use public transport occasionally. I do use ecobici regularly and find the bike lanes safe and easy. My friends here also work in CDMX and practice safety precautions. So being victims of crime is possible here but I find the the city safe and a very enjoyable place to live.
Interesting. I was in Oaxaca twice and never felt unwelcome. I felt very safe. The people are wonderful. Guess it depends on where you go and who you meet.
The people that tell you that about México City, it's because they was from dangerous neighborhoods, never means it's totally unsafe, people many times exagerate.
I lived in Iztapalapa for a while some years ago... Every morning I blew my nose and it came out black... I was told that's normal for Mexico City. I kicked the bad habit of living in Mexico City back then LOL... Breathing the air there is like smoking 2 packs of unfiltered cigarettes' a day without the benefits of nicotine.
I live in Columbus Oh, 14th largest city in US. It’s pretty, easily navigated as it’s designed on a grid. Green space, all the variety of food you could want, tons of festivals, state capital, huge university. Check the Nation’s Capital DC too! So many free museums. My sister lives in northern VA so more free for me. 😂 I love NYC but yeah it’s expensive and you have to watch out. Still love it. The people watching! We love Southern Cal and in San Diego you can just walk yourself into Tijuana! How cool is that! Anyway, everywhere here is kinda sorta unsafe because people are on edge and we have too many guns. 😢 this world! Ugh. Hope you have safe travels. ❤
We spent some time in San Luis Potosí, not far from Querétaro. It was a beautiful colonial city, just big enough to have everything. The centro area had family’s doing family things until late in the evening. Stats show it on the safer side, too. On the surface it looked like Querétaro, north.
Mexican from Mexico City here, Jordan's analysis is pretty much on point. I also watch the capitalist guy but he does have a bit of a distorted view since he is in a bubble of rich people (as Jordan pointed out too).
Nomad Capitalist channel is for high net worth individuals, he even says he is targeting 7 and 8 figure entrepreneurs. So I am sure they would spend on security detail.
Hey there Jordan, I appreciate your insightful commentary. This said, I have to politely disagree with your assessment of safety in Playa del Carmen. I’m a Canadian that’s been living in PDC for almost 3 years. I moved here as a single parent with a young child. Myself and many other families incl. other single parents that I know feel safe living in Playa. Yea, I have heard of single males being offered drugs while walking on 5ta Avenida (the most touristy part of Playa.) I can tell you that the most I’ve been offered as a woman is a massage ;) The Only unpleasant incidents I’ve heard about is again single males or even a couple of guys together being pulled over by the Police late at night for a drug check, which is more like a ‘wallet check.’ Unfort. at least some of the Police is corrupt. So for that reason I would not recommend that people go out too late at night or if they do, they should do their best to travel in larger groups. Other than that, if people are looking to live a peaceful and healthy lifestyle Playa has a lot to offer.
Plays Del Carmen is safe, just as safe as Merida although you get offered drugs walking down the 5th Avenue even when you’re holding a baby, they offer drugs to anyone. But this doesn’t make Playa Del Carmen dangerous.
@@MEN101 Again, as a woman, I've never been offered drugs on 5ta. I'm sorry if that's been your experience. Then again, there were certain parts of Downtown Toronto where people walking by were propositioned with this sort of thing. You can ask any local, once you move to Playa, you generally don't go much to 5ta unless you are visiting a specific restaurant. As a local, our usual life activities (school, co-working place, grocery store, gym, yoga, beach are elsewhere ;))

It's not great but it's significantly better than Guadalajara and Mexico City. If you look at the annual air quality averages on a website like Plume Labs, the average annual air qualify for the cities are: Queretaro: 35 Guadalajara: 46 Mexico City: 274 The lower the number the better.

Mexico City being one of the safest cities in Mexico? Man the guy in the video I guess doesn't watch the Mexican news. As a Puerto Vallarta native I traveled to Mexico City a couple of years ago and stayed at the Holiday in in downtown Mexico City near the Zocalo. It was about 5pm and we left the hotel and walked around looked at shops and eventually ended up at a KFC, spent about 40 minutes eating and when we exited the restaurant, we were greeted by a ghost town. All shops were closed, no one walking the streets, almost looked like a scene out of I Am Legend. Got to the hotel and the doorman asked us where we had gone, we said KFC and he said that we should be careful walking around in the evening because we could get mugged. I asked him about all the shops being closed, he said they do that because after dark thieves would rob the stores and police presences is basically null. That's just one personal experience, just watch the news on Mexico City and you'll hear more stories that definitely don't make it one of the safest cities in Mexico.
It's a commerce area. Most cities in Latin America are like this, even the ones that are super safe. The commerce area close at around 6 or 7. Once everyone is gone, it becomes unsafe. Not sayiung CDMX is super safe, but that sounds like a slight exagerration from the security guard.
@@ej1692 My relatives who actually live there have told me crime is outta hand. Not just in the commerce area. Follow home robberies and other crimes are on the rise.
To say "city" is really not useful. It's more like zip/postal code that is important. I live in a big US city that I am sure tops the charts of being awful, but where I live in that city is very safe, full of families and a really nice place to be. Nomad Capitalist lost me as a viewer because it was too America bashing all the time. It is not necessary to compare everywhere else to the US - there are many nice places on Earth that are unique, interesting and safe. In all countries, including the US and MX. I guess Nomad Capitalist makes money from rich Americans buying citizenship so I get it, I just got sick of it.
I've been to CDMX multiple times, staying several weeks at a time, in more affluent colonias (neighborhoods) and in some sketchier ones (like Guerrero, La Pensil, and some parts of San Rafael), and never had a problem. There are many safe colonias such as Narvarte, Col. del Valle, Granada, that don't have the hype of Polanco, Roma and Condesa (where every expat wants to be) but are super nice without costing an arm and a leg. Las Lomas? That's for billionaires. But as in most cities, a great hood can be just a stone's throw from a bad one. Such is the case in Toronto.
@@jbcmh81 Mainly that little pocket around Velazquez de Leon and Avenida Parque where there is prostitution (always has been apparently) , but not at all representative of the whole colonia.
@@mariobruyere9169 Does that still even happen anymore? When I lived there, the prostitutes hung out at Sullivan and Contreras in front of the Banamex, but then I eventually stopped seeing them. That area's been on the upswing just like a lot of other places.
Aguascalientes is really safe actually, being the capital of its homonymous state has all of the amenities that you'll need, its population is 1,300,000; the only downside I see is that the regions surrounding the state (not the city, the state) are quite dangerous, if you wanna go in vacation outside the city either you hit the "highway" between 7am - 3 pm or you take an airplane, Aguascalientes is an "oasis" between south Zacatecas and "el Bajio" in north-east Jalisco. As all cities it has its dangerous zones (this one's ubicated in the outskirts of the city), but in general you can be outside in the downton region till 10-11 pm and everything will be fine; thanks to the size of the city and its main 3 “highways” in the form of rings you can go in car from one tip of the city to the other in 25 minutes. The Centennial Miguel Hidalgo Hospital is in the top 50 best hospitals in Mexico. There is various parks in the city, the biggest one being the “Rodolfo Landeros Park” which was previously the state’s airport so it's considerably big and has plenty of Family Recreational Services, in front of this park is a commercial center with a cinema and at a distance of 10 minutes on foot is the “Aguascalientes theater” home of the state orchestra. The Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (UAA) is the 136th best university in all of Latin America and its degrees have validity throughout Mexico and most can be validated in the USA as well. I've lived my whole life in this city, I hope this helps you.
As you mentioned, I suppose the author of the list is referring to the ultra rich (I would have added Punta Mita near PV if you can afford that kinda lifestyle...sorta like that place outside Colima that Madonna and Bill Gates like).. There are many areas that are safe and affordable. Even here at lakeside, there are areas where you are more likely to encounter crime and the type of crime varies with the neighborhoods. Gated communities _can_ be safer but because you are rich, criminal activity such as kidnappings and home invasion are more likely than the street crime you will find it lower income areas. This is completely the same in the US! The older I get, the more minimalist I get. I dont worry nearly as much as I did in the US. (Oh nooo, I might have to buy another cheap guitar. X2. I've lived here my entire life(Southside) & haven't been robbed at all, here you can go for a walk at 2 am and..still totally safe. My gf is from Río de janeiro(BR) and said that by no means one can do that down there!
Unfortunately, only experienced small area of Guadalajara called zapopan. Wasnt impressed at all. Expensive, a lot of traffic and taxi drivers were not that fruendly.

I lived in Chicago 5 years and was robbed 8 times at gun point. Now i'm back in Cd Juarez after what I experienced over there. In here is way much safer, honestly.
I largely agree with you. I've lived in Mazatlan for 4 years now and have never felt unsafe, even when walking around at night. The problem with a lot of these safest cities videos is that the person just wants to generate content and does the minimal amount of research and has never even been to the places talked about. Everyone I know here agrees also that Mexico City, and Guadalajara are known for the high crime rates. Frankly, I don't mind if people think my town or Mexico in general is unsafe as it keeps the idiot gringos away.
Mexico City: “You want to stay far away from some of the far north or far south neighborhoods in the city…” Uh… Did he actually venture to go anywhere beyond Polanco/Condesa/Lomas at all? South side of the city is one of the safest areas with neighborhoods/suburbs like Coyoacán, San Ángel, Jardines del Pedregal, etc… and the north has some really nice areas into the suburbs like Ciudad Satélite, Zona Esmeralda, Lindavista, etc… The idea that you can’t get mugged by living in Santa Fe or the like is just pure ignorance. It’s really the East side you should be careful with. Really poor advice. Edit: He also mentions that “most affluent neighborhoods are built where earthquakes have the least impact”, that is partially true but also misleading, he doesn’t mention that most of those areas west of Lomas de Chapultepec and Polanco rest on the edge of cliffs which are prone to landslides and mudslides, which happen very frequently actually, and most are not covered by insurance. Condos built on top of a lakebed area like Roma or Narvarte are indeed covered by insurance, which may be expensive, but protects your property and investment much better overall. ⚠️
I would not recommend nomad capitalist. Remember he said Mexico was safe in a high end community and they have armed guards. ??? So logically, it's only safe if you're inside the complex. That's not an indicator of what is safe.
The nomad capitalist is a Canadian whose company handles people's immigration to other countries. He doesn't sound like a lawyer but a salesman who charges fees to handle the red tape for emigration. He seems to have connections to particular countries which he plays up, and others he downplays. "Lack of freedom" is how he describes countries that are safe and properous where he doesn't operate such as Spain, and crime-ridden places like Colombia are described in terms of freedoms, putting safety under the caveat of "mostly safe depending on where you are." I would say he's unreliable as a source for info and probably ineffective at handling your move to other countries.
I live in CDMX but Thursday im moving to your city. CDMX is too expensive I live in Coyoacán which is a nice nice bohemian neighborhood however it’s expensive. I’m from Indiana I don’t like all the traffic here either
Good you're moving... you were breathing in between 1 1/2 to 2 packs of unfiltered cigarette smoke without the benefit of the nicotine just being in Mexico city each day. The longer you lived in Mexico City the worse your health would get over time just from that unless you had Hepa filters running in your home 24/7 and you stayed indoors all the time.
You wont be getting any savings living in those more expensive neighborhoods in Mexico, but you will get more freedom, Mexico is BY FAR freer than the US in almost every regard except for guns.
@@hoppeanofasgard1365 Not sure what you mean by "freer". Actually I can't find any THC oil in Mexico but I can in the USA. Pretty much anything I do in Mexico I can do in USA so not really an issue.
@@RubbingPotatoes Who needs THC oil when you can buy up to an ounce of weed from anyone selling it on the street and not get in trouble with the cops, but if that makes you feel uncomfortable you can buy it in actual storefronts in Tijuana and Puerto Vallarta and other cities and states are fully legalizing it like that soon too. You're also allowed to grow up to 25 plants anywhere in Mexico. But more of what I'm getting at is there's just certain things you can do in Mexico you just can't in the US, like for example driving without insurance, driving through stop signs and red lights when there's no traffic, drinking out on the street, open containers of alcohol in your car (don't drink it they still will breathalyze you in Mexico, but I'm just saying the container can be open in the front seat, that's not a separate crime), various different building regulations are much less, if you want to build something on your property, any time you can just do it with out a permit and even when you do need a permit it's very generalized because they usually don't care what you build, zoning laws are much less and when they do exist often times are not enforced, there's almost no copyright or patent law, if you want to copy or replicate literary material or technology and sell it you can, if you want to play music in a venue where you're charging admission you don't have to get a license to play that copywrited music, and I could go on and on and on.
@@hoppeanofasgard1365 I don't think you can drink out in the open in Mexico. In CDMX I had a cup of beer and they warned me the cops will fine you. Red lights - they are more lenient I think you can treat them as a stop sign after a certain hour, but in the USA after a certain hour the red lights turn blinking. Building permits and zoning issues - agreed the US needs to improve way too much BS and red tape from what I hear.

I listed that the U.S state department's 'Do Not Travel' list has: Baja California, Guanajuato, Morelos, Chihuahua, Durango, Jalisco, &Sonora This was a year a year ago when the 4 Americans were kidnapped. @@stevenclyde5400 every American citizen coming to Mexico registers with the national institute of migration. Expats are immigrants to the country of Mexico. Being in denial seems to be a prominent American trait.
Expat has a specific meaning, to expatriate you're taking your wealth, your belongings, virtually everything with you and you move to a new country. an immigrant on the other hand may not bring anything with them, they don't expatriate anything, and often times are just coming to another country to find work.
I quit watching that "other" channel when he advocated for the large Orlando resort started by a guy named Walt being able to exploit children because of a 70 year old agreement that the resort never upheld. He is so capitalistic, that it overtakes his common sense and he has a very distorted and skewed view of how the world works based on his (and daddy's) money. Listen, I have relatives in Mexico City and when it comes to being robbed on the streets is not a question of if you have been robbed but a question of how many times have you been robbed. So, the people that tell you everything is fine it only means that they do not venture outside once it turns dark and for the most part Americans live in relatively safe areas only because they are expensive and better guarded than the average and poor areas where people live in fear. I know. I am Mexican and I can tell you basically there are 3 Mexico’s for the most part. The First World Mexico-where the upper middle class and the wealthy live. The touristic Mexico. And the regular Mexico where the working class and the poor live. The first 2 are where about 15% of Mexicans live. And the regular Mexico where about 85% of Mexicans survive. What you hear mostly is where expats live which is the 1 and 2 Mexicos. And you will rarely hear from the #3 Mexico because expats will not venture into it for the most part. Proof: how many times have you seen riding a combi or a microbus which is how the working class gets around. Even the subway at peak hours where it’s basically insane how long it’s going to take you to get in and out. So, it is what it is and you will only see the #1 and #2 Mexicos. Good luck. I am naturalized American living in Southern California ready to move to Tennessee or one of the Carolinas. Mexico is no longer a place for me with 5 to 10 times the murder rate of the USA and where two thirds of businesses are paying off the cartels in order to continue doing business. Good luck.

I think by safe cities he means is there a huge area larger than a substantial city that is safe and relatively free from crime? He doesn’t mean everyone who lives there on average is safe from crime.
I live in south florida anywhere you go specially miami the party zone drugs everywhere and shootings ive been to quintana roo cancun, pdc, isla, cozumel never been offered drugs never! I feel more safe in cancun playa del carmen than i do in south Florida! We want to move tonplayacar o puerto aventuras we are done with florida!
I really liked this video, Jordan! As a Mexican, I agree with you, except with saying that Aguascalientes is safe. Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara are the biggest cities in Mexico. Like any other big city,they tend to have more crime.
I lived in Oaxaca for over a year in 2018 and I do not agree with you about the anti foreigner sentiment at all! Everyone was very kind, welcoming and hospitable. They depend on tourism to keep the economy going so I am very surprised by this experience.
I live in Oaxaca City since a year and already know quite a few people which got robbed. Its definitely dangerous in the night. But at least there are not a lot of homicides or kidnappings. I wonder that there is no mention of all the kidnappings in Guadalajara. I would definitely count Guadalajara to one of the most dangerous cities in Mexico. Other crimes might not be that high, but more than 2000 kidnappings a year is a big problem.
When I was a teenager I stayed in Cancun for 3 years then moved to playa Blanca for 2 years then Cozumel and isles mujeres I am not sure how safe it is these places now, sure things changed
I live all my life here born and raised. The city never was so safe. Just now Iztapalapa is more safe than Benito Juárez or cuauhtemoc check it in official sites of information many things change like I say actualize your information.
@@eduardomp9027 I don't live in Mexico City and haven't been there in many years. But I have really great memories of being in Iztapalapa and going to Tepito. But like I said, I was there with my homies... We always went as a large group anywhere. They had shops and would sell things at tianguis and so we'd go as a large group because there was a lot of merchandise to move around and it was safer that way.
I've spent a good bit of time in another city I'd consider super safe(and amazing): San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, which is a state that has soooo much to see!
Guadalajara is safer than Chicago as if that’s saying anything. It’s not nicknamed Chiraq for nothing. Love Chicago. Love the food in Chicago, but never have I visited and felt safe walking around. Unless it’s at tourist spots. But I’m sure at night that’s a different story.
I have solo travelled to more than 25 countries and never been the victim of a crime.... Until this week when I got pickpocketed in Mexico City and the thieves spent $2000 USD on my cards before I realized they were missing! Mexico City probably shouldn't make the 'safest cities' list!! I still love Mexico though 🇲🇽
Gringos usually get very very hostile when i tell them this: DO NOT use your US credit cards in Mexico! instead carry 2 wallets: one with an empty debit card, some bills and an old ID and the real one wict cards and money, hidden in your clothes. They seem to think that it's an exaggeration and accuse me of being an alarmist. Until they get their wallet pickpocketed and their cards empited. You were actually lucky that it was just a pickpocket and not a kidnapping in wich they make you empty your cards in several ATMS until your bank blocks them!
My dad when he was young in a travel to Europe, some things we're stolen in his rented car in Italy, and had problems for nothing with the police in Portugal, it's call LUCK when don't happend no matter where you are.

I will never live anywhere in Quintana Roo too scary, very bad experiences every time i visit, Mexico City I can say where I live: Polanco is super safe, I lived before in Lomas de Chapultepec, that area is super safe, but it depends where you live.

For the most dangerous cities in terms of murders per capita, the list changes a bit every time I look at it. 6 months ago when I looked it was Celaya. The last time I looked it was Tijuana.

I think whether you’ll be offered drugs or not depends on whether you fit their profile of someone they think might do drugs. Apparently as a younger male I fit their profile because I’m offered drugs constantly.
