Remember this being covered on Instagram as it was happening. I'm so angry at the uncle that got the little girl killed after the parents had signed with OP for money to get the surgery that would save her. Now they're instead paying to bury the daughter and donate in her stead.

I followed this saga on reddit. It was one blow after another. The entitlement of SIL and BIL was unbelievable and the fact that the kids turned out to be so grateful to their aunt and uncle despite their parents (except youngest) was heart-warming. I really hope MIL can work on herself so she can have a good relationship with op and her family in the future.

God just... My brain literally cannot comprehend the entitlement. This woman helps pay a chunk of mortgages, and sets aside college funds, and even pays out of pocket to take the family on a massive vacation, and the absolutely STORM that follows that blazes on through for 3 years... Yeah once you get over 1mill in assets, money starts to become more of a hassle than it is worth. My family has some farm land that we rent. It's worth 1-2mill, but the rent is only an extra 24k per year (about 12k after property taxes). It is nice passive income that makes my father's retirement easier, but some people don't understand that "assets" and "liquid assets" are very different things. Like yeah, we have 1million+ in land, but you cannot just buy whatever you want because chopping down the "money tree" is quite stupid.

I feel bad for OP, her husband and children. They don't deserve those idiots as family. I'm happy OP and husband stood up to the rest of the family. I also feel bad for her cousin who lost his daughter. He and his wife worked so hard to keep her alive and well and that uncle was hella selfish to lie about testing negative when he knew damn well that covid could unalive the daughter. The cousin and wife need therapy and also if they can go after that uncle legally cuz that's so messed up.

This story is a roller coaster ride. I don’t even know where to begin, and it’s obvious the family members who harassed Op for money are genuinely disgusting the SIL and her husband are just as bad, their entitlement thinking they have any grounds to have that money. What's wild I caught covid in a similar way, my apart on the 5th had water pouring from the ceiling from like 1:30 AM to about 4 AM and after 2 weeks they hired a company to fixed the ceiling and it was illegal immigrants and I caught it from them while they were fixing the room, those dudes will work even at the tail end of covid when they just recovered becuase making money was more important then other people's health to them 😊

Truthfully the landlord should have accommodated you and others because of unfit living conditions made by their own maintenance of the place. Even if the rain was a natural issue, the persistence of it would mean that the time you lived there was not conducive to agreement.

I personally believe that wealthy family members should help poorer ones. But I don't believe its an obligation. I think not helping when you can sort of makes you an AH, but at the same, don't give money to entitled peopple. Only to kind people.
