Carl Sagan has the voice of a father attempting to comfort a distraught child.

Coupling Carl Sagan's narration to the up-to-date videos really drives home Sagan's point that we are evolving continuously- a very nice little prize. There were no wind farms, Iraqi fire fields, Deepwater oil fires before Sagan died- and now they are just normal recent memories. Yet, they fit as backgrounds perfectly as he pointed out the people that reach the stars will not be like us- they will be new versions of us. A hopeful point- troubles come and go, but time and change are continuous. Thanks!

No anti west hate crimes, no Islamic shooting sprees on the streets of Paris....indeed it was a good time, when men where men and others kept to their own. Their own dusty, empty realms instead if flooding into civilised countries to live off their systems that those countries forged from the blood of their people and the fruit of the earth upon which they lived, simply to better the world. For abolition of slavery what do they get? For science what do they get? For technology what do they get? Kalashnikov rounds fired at satirical news papers. Bombs at teenage concerts. Women, children murdered. That what they get. Free a savage, and he will come back to enslave you. Mark my words Europe is in the process of leading that now.

The internet age is slowly opening the eyes of the world. Now more than ever we can communicate with people of vastly different cultures and ideology and guess what... At our core we are all the same. Good people who just want to do what is right. Looking across reddit and youtube, for example, at the Ukraine crisis, neither side wants to go to war. The problem is the greedy politicians we choose to lead. We need a new system of government. But I'm not smart enough to come up with one.

Never fails to make me tear up. Everything about this video is so relevant right now. People don't realize how big of a deal global warming is right now and the soon to be most powerful free man on Earth thinks global warming is a conspiracy created by China. It makes me really, really sad. We are so fragile, and precious, everything on Earth is. This is our only oasis in a never ending sea of universe. We need unity, we need awareness, we need action.

@kagu1961

Those of us who are mostly moral and curious and passionate and concerned need to raise our voices up and start rattling the cage more. We cannot fear fighting for what is right--the survival of us...and the basic goodness in most people. And a rational, scientifically informed viewpoint that is systematic, yet also dynamic and not rigid and open to change. And a future where technology really does create abundant resources so that suffering isn't as bad.
@BasedAlaric
@BasedAlaric 5 лет назад
I wouldn't class none of the suffering today as religious. It's driven by political evil, greed and the pressure of the media. Funny enough, media loves to damage religion. We, too, are rational, unlike certain people who think that there is 67 genders.

True or not, that's no reason to dislike a video about progress and the achievements of mankind.

Stevo - when I think of all the good people who were imprisoned and killed down through history because they thought like you makes me sick.... I've lost count of how many times in my life that I've heard the phrase "God didn't raise any idiots" and here comes another one.... How much progress have we lost because of this type of thinking? We could be a lot farther ahead.

I watch this series over and over again to be inspired. The total beauty of our Universe has yet to reveal itself, but the beauty that we can see, is absolutely breath taking.

Sagan, you've influenced me more than I thought possible. I've listened to your voice over and over, attempting to understand the world for myself. Now I chosen to choose a new major for college and look at the world from a different perspective. Thank you.
