I reckon he takes himself too seriously. He seemed to be trying to be too serious and thoughtful, as if he's too worried that a young recruit will see the interview.

Would have been nice to keep him for 1 more year at least. He was contracted. 2019 could have been different. Oh well.

Great footy mind. I loved to hate him at the hawks before he came and worked his magic for the Eagles. Met him at Freo Markets and he was a really nice guy. Quite a shame we couldn't have held onto him for longer.

It was a mistake to have him at Hawthorn headquarters. He immediately adopted a serious football thinker persona. It was as if he was worried that there may have been a Hawthorn player or young recruit watching the podcast. Its so important that the mystique of a serious coach isn't squashed. Off site and it would have been much easier to have him relax and put down the intellectual facade.

Did Mitchell ever apologise to Fyfe for the dog-act of deliberately corking him, causing him 3-months of favouring a leg?

Let Fyfe worry about kicking straight next year. I suspect he'll be playing out of the goal square and trying to grab those pack marks in the forward 50. There is no Logue or Lobb and Taberner is past it as a forward now. Jackson and Fyfe it is. Then after 2024 Amiss may step up to replace Fyfe.

@Steph Fyfe can be a very useful forward. Its a real luxury having him out of a goal square and tackling etc. I notice that there was criticism in the Adelaide pre season match. Haselby reckons he didn't defend adequately at one time, as he's used to being the man that does his own thing with others defending. Also in 2022 Cornes criticised him for not putting defensive pressure and tacking pressure on and just trying to get the easy possession over the top.

Clearly not cause he chose to come here and not there. Plus I’d rather hear him interviewed by a former teammate as he would have a better insight into the person
