you can also try to buy a new tape/cassette or one that you know works .... take it apart , and switch the spools . There shouldn't be any tension on the tape itsself and basically lays in a route fairly loosely . Just make sure you dont open it upside down. the reels and tape should lift out easily and replace the old tape and reels out of the old one and in the 'new' housing

I'd be interested in knowing what caused the kid to get shot. As a non American it usually is portrayed that the people who get shot did something which then aggravated the cops to shoot. But at the same time the cops shoot around when a leaf falls on the ground.
