Recently, Ky Hart and I (Andrew Pittman) managed a 4 day wall-style FA of the Witch Heads east face. It was bubble bubble toil and trouble all the way to the top! in a good way - a Zion'y adventure kinda way. This wall had a personality, a presence. A witchy presence.
In the beginning, we lept along jokingly at her feet, drinking unfiltered from her swamp, and naming bivvys after her blemishes (the first wart, the second wart, etc.) We could not have foreseen the trickery-the conivery!- that this ancient sorceress was capable of.
Eventually we did the thing after 1800 feet of first ascent climbing with many difficult free and aid moves.
