If it was Tom Ellis lucifer then I highly doubt we would have gotten the battle he's to nice of a devil and now he's a therapist to help people get out of hell

This was a great show, And no Tom wouldn’t have worked here, they’ve change lucifer way too much from canon to have it fit anywhere plot relevant, the best we could have ever gotten was the cameo in crisis

It is often asked in what way an individual being, like Lucifer is more powerful than a "fundamental aspect of existence" like an Endless. It's about frame of reference. What makes the Endless "endless" is that they are a universal concept. They are "bigger" than any one entity, even a cosmic entity, even a god. They are however like gravity - weak at any one point compared to the scope of their reach. Lucifer could "destroy" Dream, as we the viewer see Dream. But Dream is only a manifestation of an infinite idea. As seen in comics, there are many instances of Dream, each seen differently by beings across the universe. Lucifer could not destroy the idea of Dream.
He literally could tho. It would mean the end of the universe, but Lucifer could destroy the concept of dream, since he is the reason concepts even exist. We've seen him destroy conceptual beings in the comics.
@@honeytlbadger4365 I think you are agreeing to the OG commenter. Dream is the child of Night and Time, both of which exists outside of a give universe. In the overtune comics, dream was faces with many facets of himself, one of which was the Dream of the universe. The Dream of the endless facet that died was a world which only have plants, and yet when that form of dream died, Dream knows and experiences it as he mentioned in the section facing the hives.
I like how poetic it sounds when Morpheus refers to his tools as “Symbols of Office.” He is one of the Endless that takes his duties the most seriously.
Matthew: A friend of mine came here. My ex was cast down wrongly, and he fought his way to get her back. Morpheus: He is a warrior? Matthew: No, a big vegetable. I mean, really big.
When it comes to Life after Death theory I would LOVE to emulate how it happened to Matthew here with my own in every detail. I could get used to being a watchful lapdog flying from Dream World to the waking world or any other world for that matter
@@SexLuthor it’s still the same character they just had him hold back a lot of his abilities cause otherwise there wouldn’t be 6 seasons of Lucifer and it be less memorable if they have him use all his power in a series
@@chintzychinchin761 that's because in the comics as well, Lucifer doesn't use his powers that much or even in battle because he mostly uses his brain,
This show confused me a great lot at first. Especially with the mant gender swaps, and character swaps. In the comic, dreams guide is Etrigan the demon. Constantine is not played by matt Ryan, and Lucifer is not played by Tom Ellis. And what is up with everyones pronunciation of Constan-tiiine?
Those who are confused about gender of Lucifer because here Lucifer is shown as a female but in Lucifer series (Tom Ellis) he is a man. The truth is angels don't have any gender... They are genderless and beautiful (beautiful in case of angels) and yes Lucifer (as a devil) is genderless and ugly but was one of the most beautiful angels when he was Samael (angel). The reality of "Lucifer Series" is They had to make Lucifer a handsome young man just for the show 😂😂 the reality is lil bit different.
Incorrect...it is MICHAEL who is the Strongest of all (besides The CREATOR) Michael is who fought lucifer & ripped out his grace...casting him OUT & DOWNWARD But other than that blip...I mostly enjoyed this show...need to see more dream/supernatural stuff tho
It is a matter of perspective. Lucifer is more powerful in his own power. Michael holds the divine spark for God, which is technically not his own power and would be weaker than Lucifer without it. Even with it, they are pretty tied, as Michael could not unleash the spark without resetting reality.
@@manuel1654088Nope. Lucifer was possessed by Fenris wolf and Fenris used the last of Lucifer’s power to blast Michael. Michael then gave his demiurgic power to Elaine.
@Miki rin Wrong. Lucifer is more powerful and he technically hard counters Michael. If Michael even tried to use the Demiurge against Lucifer, he'd just manipulate that energy. Lucifer has done it before, twice.
Just a fact, unlike other characters there is only 1 Lucifer in all of multiverse or Omniverse. There may be avatars of him like the great beast and all , but all of them are part of him
He can manifest his own self image, shape shift and pretty much transform anything into something else . They could easily portrait him as anyone without much context also dream can have a different appearance for different people
That's because the directors and the industry want to please this generation tiktok kids and "woMeN EmPowERmeNT" that is why Lucifer is a women and death is a black women which isn't real
@@hushepsilon8112 in comics his brother has a kid . In the bible they have children as well , they are described either as a sort of chimera or a mechanical contraption with fire they can appear as human if they want . That's why angels in anime/manga have something to do with machines , numbers or chimeras since they sometimes chose to ignore the western blonde androgynous angel
Man I’ve always been interested in the Vertigo and Sandman universe(I’ve never read the comics yet), but this show seems bland and witless, maybe it just sounds corny with actual actors maybe it feels better in the pages
The show of sandman it´s great . Reasons:it´s an almost page by page adaptation with some modifications with scenes and character arcs, but in very general, very very faithful Like watchmen movie. Reason 2: The actors are good in this, i don´t understand your comment. Reason 3: It´s not a cheap show, only first season haved a 165 million dollar budget and you could see that in the great effects and cinematography, and the other technical aspects.
Because in the Sandman universe Lucifer is literally the one who shaped the universe under the guide of the Presence (God), together with his brother Michael. Lucifer is above the Eternals, he was there before them. Lucifer is literally the pure manifestation of the will of God and therefore he has near absolute power on all aspects of reality. Lucifer's limitation is that he is unable to create from nothing, that is the power of his brother Michael, but otherwise he can manipulate both time, space and matter to his absolute will, with only God himself able to negate Lucifer's powers
Its like, the Presence is God with a capital G, the Creator of everything. It is above everything else, Endless included as he is also the one behind their existence (for example, the book of Destiny is basically directly written by the Presence). The other gods are instead born from the beliefs of mortals. They are born inside the Dreaming itself in fact, and fade away when people stop worshipping them. The Endless are the children of 2 other entities, Time and Night, and are above the lower gods, but below the Presence, Lucifer and Michael
@@mikirin363 are you sure of that? The Presence to my knowledge was always presented as being very much above the Eternals and is the creator of DC multiverse (also known as the Source). He is also the one empowering the Spectre for example, though indirectly. (btw, am not religious, I'm simply talking about how the comic works)
@@Autumn4779 I'm jealous? because Hollywood is crippling and killing franchises? Remind me how things went for Marvel after they replaced all the male characters with women? Oh yes, no one watches the TV series and the films fail at the box office....
Why did they make Lucifer a woman when he is a man through out all comics? And don't say angels are sexless, when he was constantly referred to as "he", "him", "son", "Brother", "uncle", "Mr" etc. Also if angles were sexless, how did his BROTHER, become a FATHER? And why is Lucifers Sisters, always referred to as female? And yes i know Neil tried to say they are sexless, but that's 40 years later after he made the characters, and when he did make the characters he didn't think of them a sexless. That's been said by himself. He is just getting a payday from netflix. that's the only reason Lucifer is a woman here.
Lucifer was played by a female but wasn't a female in the show Lucifer was literally called SIRE in the show Neil talked about Angels being genderless as in they don't have a specific gender , In a tweet he said that Gwendoline's Lucifer has He/They pronouns which is correct through out the comics . And every pronoun in the comic was used depending on the myth Neil was aiming for and that's why Lucifer was referred to as He , add to that the spin off comics weren't written by Neil so Lucifer becoming a father or uncle was Mike's idea not Neil's Gwendoline is playing Lucifer because she looks like the character's first cover appearance and first comic appearance and has the androgynous appearance david bowie had back in the day and she's an incredible actress who nailed the part
@@JSTmore no. Lucifer doesn’t look like her in the first appearance. I’ve read it. They look nothing alike apart from perhaps 1 picture where it’s somewhat similar. And in the show he consistently had He/him pronoun. Not “they”. They was used for when he was with others in the comics, to refer to the group. And no, in the comics he doesn’t look androgynous. And while you can say he was “sexless” in the comics, he only ever appeared as a male, and only ever was referred to in male pronoun and just like in the Bible was made “from” the masculine. So although it’s true they Don’t have a “specific sex”, they are still all made to be masculine. Also about her performance? It really wasn’t good. She doesn’t feel powerful enough as she is short, a woman and has a very light voice. It simply doesn’t fit the role. Not to mention they made Lucifer lose to Dream instead of the demon, who should have lost to dream. Which is a huge difference from comics.
0:52 Not Biblically accurate tho. Not even accurate by Jewsish texts. Cos the Arch angels are only Secondary level guardians. Beyond them there are angels in Bible describes stronger than Lucifier and Micheal. Lucifer no strong than Micheal, nor wise. Only these illuminatis describing him as such. He just gathered angels who hate men becoming theri master under God's name so he rebeled against the God himself. To God we humans were meant to rule all creation including these Angels. And Lucifer don't like it. If I were a Christian I'd rather trust God than angels and demons. They're supreme. Neither Lucifer. He's just a spoiled brat to me that's it.
nobody said it was supposed to be accurate to the bible. in the comics the actual religious histories get thrown right out the window. in dc Norse mythology is real Christianity is real and pretty much every religions god is real,
@@rickymorphew2245ven then I hear both lusifer and Michele are essentially equals That the only reason lusifer lost is because he lost most of his divine power when he rebelled or Michele was amped by God Either way God either made lusifer weaker or Michele stronger for one to beat the other
In DC the creator AKA God made Michael the ángel of Matter (he creates atoms) and Lucifer (he has another ángel name) the ángel of Transformation he can reshape reality and Matter into other types of atoms The endless are very much weaker beings against BOTH, because they are concepts of living beings after creation and this 2 Angels exists before creation inself
@@H4CKP4CK yea im tired of people bringing this whole thing up. yes it was based on the bible characters but as all artists do gaiman changed things. in this lucifer just ups and leaves hell and god gets other angles to rule. that is not in the bible. this whole argument is repetitive and idiodic.
when Jesus was baptized his heavens opened and a dove appeared descending from heaven, alighting him later to his followers Jesus replies to them saying, he saw lucifer fall like lightning from heaven, and that is why he could give them authority over all power of the enemy
Great story, great actor: so it´s good, dumb.If the 2 things are positive, the work its good, dear dumb peter griffin. This show, like the comic, it´s not for reactionaries, that you is probably. The show it´s a frame by frame from the comic, and every fan loved.
Lucifer has been trapped on this earth since before humans. His goal is to be worshipped as God by all the people of the earth. He has two main points of contention with God. 1. you don't need the law to be righteous. 2. you don't die. He has positioned several tools to accomplish his goal. 1. condition people to worship money, then put his face on the money. With the writing "in God we trust" 2. build prophecies about himself in every religion. Jesus can not return until Satan is revealed for who he is. A pretender God. Satan is a murderer, liar, musician, wise, beautiful, prideful, ruthless, and hypnotizing. Remember the catch 22. God did not kill Satan. So if he claims to be God, and you call him Satan... martyrs will reveal him.
@@arthuroliveirasouza4714 the problem is the ideology, if you want yo be like that is ok, but dont force others to believe in that rubbish, like if were ok to be like that, specially children
I was dissapointed by the casting. I thought for sure they would have casted someone with beautiful androgynous features, rather than the actress. She's a great actress, sure, but really fell short of what the most "beautiful, most powerful angel" there is.
Lucifer kills Superman with s snap, I mean yeah Superman is strong compared to other beings but Lucifer is the second strongest character in the DC universe
The people of today think fast and dumb have good dialogue but think that SANDMAN have bad dialogue. If this a bad dialogue for you, i think you dont like anything, dear dumb
For those who are thinking it's the same Lucifer, it's not both Shows are not of the same cannon. But there was an idea to bring Tom back into the role but they decided to keep them both separate so they could do there own spin on it.
@@kalvin187douglasAs a pathetic joke character. He needs to be serious and cold as well as have the features from the comic like the blond hair and no facial hair.
@@kalvin187douglas how, exactly? For starters, he ain't even close to being the "most powerful of all creations" as said here. Morpheus would be able to deal with him pretty easily in season 2 unlike Brienne of Tarth Satan who will be an actual problem to him and also there's the more obvious problem: He simply isn't what this show needs for a Lucifer. The Lucifer show took way too many creative liberties to the point where their Lucifer is neither DC's Lucifer nor the actual Devil from abrahamic religions. He's a original take, in which he's just a fallen angel who made a mistake, got extremely punished for it and then got scapegoated by humanity as evil incarnate and the ultimate beast when he's actually very far from being all that. This show actually wanted to make an adaptation of DC/Vertigo's Lucifer Morningstar, unlike the Fox show, who just wanted to make a procedural buddy-cop comedy with the Devil as a cop but for some reason they decided to make it out of DC's Lucifer when they could easily have done the entire show as it's own thing by simply taking away the Vertigo names like Mazikeen, Amenadiel, Silver City, etc and it would have remained the same show except that Lucifer wouldn't have had that cameo on the CW crossover. It'd have been the same show and they wouldn't have had to pay royalties to DC/Warner for technically using their characters and stories even though they weren't. Not really.
@@justsomeone1555 I'm thinking that their concept was just close enough that they got the rights "Just in case". But I'd have assumed Tom would have played the Sandman version and it would have contrasted with the hero Lucifer from the show.
People who keep saying the Tom Ellis version wouldn't work are forgetting that this show is a literal prequel to the Lucifer show, timeline wise. Tom doesn't become a goofball until he abdicates the throne in hell. He'd have likely played this earlier version of Lucifer more seriously. (this one hasn't left hell yet but hints at doing so in her final scene)
Not even a little imo. Lucifer wasn't bad for the show that version was in but would not have worked in Sandman what-so-ever. Far too far removed from the source material was Lucifer
