It’s so impressive to see Tom talk in interviews and see how expressive he is, to then consider how much restraint he had when playing Dream to only have subtle facial expressions and use stillness/silence to communicate. He absolutely nailed it. Dream never came across as blank - he always came across as incredibly restrained.
he is THE moment. I've never been so confident in an actor the way I am with him. the way he talks about his character and the story and his whole understanding of it. his commitment to the role is real and pure alongside his talent and looks. he is gonna go so big with this one.
Fun fact: Tom Sturridge & Robert Pattinson have been best friends since they were children. They went to school together in London. Rob was at The Sandman premiere after-party recently.
Just binged the sandman in one day and when I say Tom Sturridge is going to be the next Netflix super star, I mean he’s going to be the next Netflix SUPER STAR his acting and portrayal was effortlessly spot on so much emotional and raw acting portrayed is in so many scenes like his craft as an actor is dangerously amazing!
I imagined that finding the right actor to play Dream was a headache. But I'm glad they got Tom, he really embodies the otherworldly vibe from Morpheus and hopefully this role can bring him into the mainstream.
Wild enough, Neil Gaiman said he was one of the first 10 auditions, and they knew pretty quickly he was the top candidate. Netflix wanted them to keep auditioning, esp after COVID hit and filming was pushed back, so they actually paid Tom to not accept a different job while they auditioned over 1,500+ more actors for the role and eventually decided that they were more confident than ever that Tom was perfect for the role.
The way Tom talks is so poetic and expressive, a true artist! So glad to have him play Dream. I can’t help rewatching The Sandman, listening to his voice, and watching the slightest and careful crafting of his facial expressions at just the right moments. Amazing actor!
The source material is so terrific that I was scared. But Tom Sturridge was the PERFECT choice. Absolutely brilliant! He was masterful and absolutely perfect in the role. I have watched the series twice through and every bit is delightful. I’m looking forward to more!
I love how he defends Sandman as Literature in every interview. Many people don't consider comics as literature and it's such a bs! Sandman has more weight than many novels.
How lovely of him to acknowledge and thank the people behind the scenes for the dedicated work they did during Covid to film this movie 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ love how thoughtful and articulate he is, the love for this show just shines through! 😍😍😍
Sandman is an expensive show. And I for one wouldn't do s2 without the right budget. The stories are going to require top notch practical effects and CGI
Tom Sturridge is perfect and gorgeous as Dream . If you haven't watched the season of The Sandman do your best to find it and watch it. It is stunning in every way. Unfortunately, when it comes to awards, it seems to have been overlooked.
Let’s give a shout out to Tom Sturridge for portraying Dream/Morpheus. All while he was mute, nude and in a glass cage for the pilot episode. Now waiting for season 2. 😁
