I always get goosebumps from that ending speech.

The ending is a nice tribute to Lis, it rounds it all up rather nicely. Lovely reaction as always.It's been enjoyable watching you react.

It's SO heartbreaking, not only because we lost the beautiful Elisabeth Sladen, but also because The Sarah Jane Adventures was just hitting a new high, with its soft reboot.

I still haven't watched any of S5 in full. Lis' death was the first celebrity death that hit me. As a teenager growing up with the show the same age as Rani Luke and Clyde, it completely devastated me,not watching her final season has meant in my mind it never has to end. But watching the end there still made me tear up. I'll never not be over it. Lis was nothing short of incredible, she carried starlight in her soul. I'd recommend her autobiography if you haven't already read it. Brilliant read, and completed only a few months before her death. Her family found and published it afterwards.

Devastating. I started watching her when I was 8, I'm 59 now. I met her many times and realise how lucky I am.

Originally the last 3 episodes in a magazine were gonna be Meet mr smith The 13th floor The battle of Bannerman road Then we had farewell Sarah Jane the lockdown special Rip Sarah Jane

I believe they recently did a new audio series, I think with Clyde and Rani. I think they even got Samantha Bond to come out of her cosmic prison for the nostalgia value. 🐙💍

I know there were plans for Ace to initially return much like Jo but sadly never happened. It would have likely had been the next season. The sanjay luke mentioned a few times was also going to be his boyfriend in future plans. The parrot guy was also going to become a bigger role Such a shame Liz died and we didn’t get to see these come to the screen

My favourite thing is the fact the final scene we have with Lis Sladen as Sarah Jane is one of her laughing and smiling in the attic. 💙 miss her

It is really sad the show ended in the way it did, but at least it finished with a solid story that does bring home something of the horrors of slavery to the young audience; the final clip montage is also very moving. The original plan for Series 5 was that Sky would be revealed as the Trickster’s daughter in the final story, but of course that story was never made in the end - I think it was also intended to be the final confrontation between Sarah Jane and the Trickster. Beyond that, I am not sure there were many firm plans. There was definitely intended to be a a Series 6, during which Clyde and Rani might both have left the show, while Luke may have returned as a full time character as Tommy Knight would have finished his A-levels by that point. Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed all your SJA reactions. It was a great show, probably the most consistent of all the Who-related shows produced since 2005, and I think I have enjoyed watching it even more this time than I did originally - great to see that you loved it so much too.

Had Sladen lived, the last 3 stories of Series 5 would have dealt with plotlines such as Mr Smith becoming human, Clyde and Rani's burgeoning relationship, Luke coming out as gay, and Sky being a daughter of The Trickster. And then depending on how the plotlines were dealt with, Series 6 would have been a completely clean slate (much in the same way Moffat was to the original RTD era). It is sad to think about where the show could have gone if it weren't for Sladen's tragic death. Maybe she'd meet the 12 and 13th Doctors, maybe she'd even have a chance to appear in the 50th (her potentially reuniting with The Zygons would have definitely been made a big deal). It is hard to watch The Man Who Never was with the hindsight it was never meant to be the true end to the series. Fortunately, they did manage to provide a final coda to the show, with the Farewell Sarah Jane webcast a few years ago.
