Looks like RU-vid wasn’t a fan of our original videos on the Iranian Embassy Siege and restricted them. So, we’ve combined both videos, sprinkled in some censoring, and are crossing our fingers it follows RU-vid’s rules this time! This video was made possible thanks to everyone on the Simple History Patreon: www.patreon.com/simplehistory
You should cover the 1980 Norco Shootout, which was a bank robbery that involved 5 robbers, a car chase on the freeway, bombs being thrown at police, a helicopter was shot down (it made a safe landing), and a foot chase in the San Bernardino Forest. Three of the five robbers survived, multiple cops cars were damaged, and a riverside deputy was killed, his name was James Bernard Evans
One thing to note about that last guy discovered among the hostages in the back garden: when discovered the SAS attempted to bring him back inside the building to ensure all terrorists were KIA, but when it was pointed out that there were live cameras broadcasting the event they brought him to a police van instead.
Interesting facts for gamers, the rainbow six siege operator, Thatcher, was written to be one of the SAS operators who took part in Operation Nimrod. Another fact is that one of the SAS operators, John McAleese, was the inspiration for the original Captain John Price in the Modern Warfare trilogy.
Operation Nimrod is the one that solidified the SAS's place as an elite counter-terrorist role as well as putting the MP5's legendary 'good guy' status on the map.
I remember watching a programme about this on tv. Really interesting. 1 of the terrorist tried to run out with the hostages but got shot when the hostages pointed him out to the SAS.
@Voidi-Void Yes, they don't listen. They only pay attention to history they can censor and small channels. Or their AI flags incorrectly 99 times out of 100.
As a Brit, I for one am incredibly grateful that the SAS exist and are able to perform such operations. They truly have an incredible reputation and I'm very proud of them. Thankyou so much for re-editing this video and putting it back up on youtube. Finger crossed RU-vid's hit squad bots don't take it down.
@@keylwhite4689 no arena breakout does allow for top mounted flashlight, but its still not as big as the ones that the SAS used (and having played arena breakout for 3 years, no one would ever mount anyting on the top rrail because its useless)
Turns out these carpenters are very important for these situations, especially for SWAT teams in law enforcement, training for such compounds and facilities that demand precision. The SAS also trained with buses to simulate hostage rescues via breaking windows.
Well done Simple History, well done. This was a really exciting documentary about the operation that led to the legendary SAS to become legends worldwide. You never cease to amaze me with your content.
Hostage crisis in Perú. The terrorist group MRTA captures de house of the japan embassador for almost a year. The operation to liberate the hostages is now used as an example worldwide
I remember this happening on TV, I was 9 yo at the timeme. One thing was missed out though... a female police constable was also killed; WPC Yvonne Fletcher.
11:50 some nice detail in the graphics. One guy does look a lot like one of the SAS team who went in. Not sure Saddam Hussein in the background is accurate though.
Okay, hold on a minute. Earlier you said that out of the 26 hostages only one was killed. But one got shot and killed which prompted the SAS assault. And now another hostage got killed by the terrorists during the assault. So there were two civilian casualties, right?
Hi Simple History All your videos are in English so you miss a lot of potential in South East. What you think someone convert your videos into Hindi/urdu so people in india and pakistan also watch this amazing content
@LuminousJay94 uh huh, please don't try and provoke people. I have nothing but respect for anyone who's served or currently serving. Your acting like I'm selling them short, and it's annoying
@crazymulatto8981 Provoke? Grow up you utter baby, i'm provoking you yet you act asif calling the worlds premier anti terror unit 'capable' isn't selling them short? They're the best in the world at what they do end of. What you described them as feels disrespectful, there's abit more than capability to it. Try not to be provoked by constructive criticism next time.
@crazymulatto8981 What on earth are you talking about? i've done nothing to provoke anyone. Infact to be provoked by words on a screen that were simply pointing out you may have come across as disrespectful is nothing short of pathetic on your part.
