Learn the shocking true story behind the release of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's notorious honeymoon video.
Pam and Tommy claimed that an electrician named Rand Gauthier stole their private tape from their home during a remodel. Rand then teamed up with the enterprising film director Milton Ingley and the mafia-connected producer Louie "Butchie" Peraino to sell bootlegs on the web.
Eventually the video landed in the slimy hands of Seth Warshavsky, a sleazy tech "pioneer" (i.e., conman) at the helm of the online adult empire Internet Entertainment Group (IEG), which streamed the video live for the public.
Massive lawsuits, conflicting accusations, and lots of attention followed, but I've hunted down the alleged contract negotiated behind the scenes, along with some satisfying updates proving that karma is a queen. Always felt bad for Pam, even if it helped her career/was on purpose. Society was still sexist and disproportionately focused the negative toward her vs Tommy. Think about it, she as a beautiful women who desired huge success was shunted into thoughts of growing up a stripper. Feeling compelled to sell yourself is def a product of our society. Still interesting/informative to see another iteration of this Hollywood story! Can't wait for the next chapter!

I definitely feel you. People dragged Pam and Tommy, including critics who didn't even dispute that the tape was stolen, which is messed up no matter how you slice it. And I agree her brand was / is a product of society, which certainly wasn't eager to reward her for qualities unrelated to her sex appeal, and that's sad. I think no matter what version, it was clearly taken behind their backs. In her documentary you can just tell it took a huge toll on her mental health, it did boost her career but that’s because she just had to go with it. She said after awhile she stopped caring and just wanted to take care of her boys. I know she didn’t consent to Pam and Tommy but I think it was an apology to her. Great content!

Wow - what a story. The face of Pam at the talkshows... Even though she did make comments about her sexuality and whatever, she was so done with all the comments on the tape. And those hosts just kept pushing. It is a different thing to show things yourself or get private things exposed (playboy etc. vs the tape). Whatever the thruth is, she was cleary unhappy with it. I do feel like that after a while -if they did not do it themselves- they just went with it. Maybe that is the best thing to do. I told my husband yesterday about this video (after watching half of it), and we came to the conclusion that we as a whole did some f*cked up shit in '90-'20ish... With Pam, Britney, Amanda etc etc.

I also wondered whether Pam and Tommy just rolled with the tape years later after there clearly was no point in trying to fight it anymore. But, yeah, regardless, the media was appalling and impressively insensitive to the whole situation back in the day. I think your overall takeaway is spot on: we did some f*cked up shit not too long ago. I'm always surprised how bad shows were from my school years, and it explains a lot of what lingers today. Im so confused about why you included that part about Hulk Hogan. Peter Theil wasnt just interested in the case, but was using Hogan as a means of revenge against Gawker for outing him without his consent. The two cases have little in common, other than a sex tape.

Catching up on your content!! #emptymug. I think Pam was initially not in on the release of their tape, but decided with her PR team and agents to make the best of the situation. Her trajectory could've inspired how Paris handled what happened to her, and what the Kardashians did with Kim (I'm not super convinced she or her momager was/were unaware of the initial release).

I love your channel such great content, I would love to see it grow. If I can offer a suggestion, do more shorts, and you will get more subscribers likes and views quickly. Hard to believe but it works every time. You have so much content with Pam and Tommy alone. If I were you, I would make a bunch of shorts, like 100 plus over time. You have material for even more than that. And challenge yourself to put one out a day or something like that for a period of time. All the sudden you will see your channel explode, that would be my guess. Best of luck. I will check back 🙌🏻

I've definitely thought about how much content could be created from these long documentaries, and I know the duration is a roadblock for a lot of people to click, especially when it's a channel they don't know. I did create a separate channel for excerpts from these long docs at youtube.com/@guzzleclips where I made about a dozen shorter videos from this Pam & Tommy documentary, but you're right: I need to get on my Shorts game! It's hard with how much time is needed for all the research these videos take, but I should really look into outsourcing this job to a great editor. Anyway, thank you for the encouragement. Means a lot and I hope to experiment with Shorts soon.

@@marybetsy thanks for the detailed reply. I have another channel that I run not the one I’m writing you from, and it is just for fun. And that being said, even in regard to my comments to you, it all depends on what you’re optimizing for and what your goal is. if your goal is views, subscribers, etc. then I would put effort into the shorts. Let me give you an example. My sons and I were making videos regarding music, instruments, etc. they were taking hours if not days to make and they were 5 to 10 minutes long. we were getting a handful of subscribers and likes, but I’m talking under 100 likes in a few weeks or a month. Then I started putting up shorts and they would get 1500 likes in the first day and go from there. Subscribers started building quickly with the shorts, which, then turns people onto your longer videos. Kind of obvious I know, but worth repeating with a channel is good as yours. Not sure if that works for everyone but that was my experience 🙌🏻

I love Pam, always have always will. But Playboy has said on more than one occasion they don't contact girls. In their heyday they got hundreds if not thousands of submissions every day. So many girls wanted to be Playmates.
