I can see that! Story structure could help guide one in placing particular themes and melodies throughout the film.

I have never used this structure, but it's familiar. I have used the hero's journey. I find them constraining and struggle writing with a flow. similar to dance ballroom v freestyling. I'm a freestyler. But they are useful as a general guide and/or I draw a blank. Thank you for yet another helpful video.

You're welcome! I agree, structure guides have their usefulness - especially in screenplays, where you're strictly limited on words and pages - but I've always had to heavily modify them to make them workable for a story of mine. I usually prefer to plot from scratch, keeping the basic principles of structure in mind as I go.

I was just looking at this book the other day while looking for resources to help me write my feature film screenplay! What a timing haha! Excellent! Some other great books for screenwriters are The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler, Screenplay by Syd Field, and Story by Robert McKee. I'll do that breakdown soon. Gotta pick a movie first.

@@creativewritingcorner I heard Story is the best one but it's big and I'm a slow reader. Videos like yours are far better for me but I might still try and get a copy of it. I need to improve my storytelling abilities. If you can't decide or can't find a movie that fits the description perfectly, you could also look at a few different movies and how they fit and don't fit into the beat sheet. Just a thought for you to consider. :)
