Me sister and I, sang this song at our dads wake. A few week later, i took his ashes to top of Nephin Beg, an the family in Glenisland parish, had a mass, an i scattered my dads ashes where he had told me to do. 💚❤️
❤ that's lovely 🤩 I hope you don't mind me asking - "Did he die from cancer? Because that's one of the few good things about having the big C - you get to plan your own funeral! Which if you haven't guessed by now is the reason why I felt com0elled to comment on your review which is beautiful by the way! I have got cancer and one of the songs I want playing at my cremation which should have all been paid for by then! Is " my own personal Jesus sang by the great Johnny Cash. And I want my ashes scattered in the little flower fairy park close to where we live as I have always loved the flower fairies!
We come from a very special place, with a unique obsession with Gaelic football, regardless of what happens in 3 weeks I’m proud of my county always 🇧🇩
From way back my family is from Mayo; I visited there when I was 26. I watched the sun set over the ocean while it shone on the green hills behind me, and I felt i was home, i was real, i belonged. I cried at the sight of it. Since then, this has been one of my favorite songs.
American here. Never been to Ireland. An Irish gent I worked with introduced me to them about 30 years ago. Bought all the CDs and learned all the words. Saw them in Santa Cruz Ca. 20 something years ago. Great show. Great band. Great music. Love this song.... and F.C.A and a bunch of others! And it helped me become closer to my Irish friends!
Our grandparents from Mayo n Roscommon got married in St Helens. Ive took my kids n wife over to Mayo loads of times, the connection is still there…💚❤️
I LOVE this song. I LOVE Davy's voice. Can't stop playing their music which is astonishing considering I never heard of them until about a month ago. And how I missed them is equally astonishing. Anyway the good news is that I have found them, and I'm having a simply marvellous time listening to their music and going around the house singing their songs.
American here also.......I have seen them many times (I may have been there 20yrs. ago? Did they play the Catalyst?) anyway - I have been to Ireland. Galway is my favorite place. I deliver sailboats - ocean passages etc.....I just put the album on and listen to it the entire midwatch underway. Great Band!!
Loved the saw doctors many years ago, someone asked me to name a band that I loved and it came out “ the saw doctors” they all looked at me like I was odd! Listen, absorb, you’ll love it.
I used to live with a proper hard as nails pal who was into dance music and clubbing. He'd wake me up every Saturday and Sunday morning with the Saw Doctors blasting. Bizarre. Love 'em.
Heading back for the all Ireland in a month, please God. Just get past Tipp. Dad is too ill to travel and I want nothing more than for them to win. Dad was a child when they last won. Up Mayo!
@scampers2000 my parents were born in mayo and my father died 10 years ago on the 7th of this month and he loved this song and this always reminds me of him!!! i miss him UP MAYO

Oh the Green and Red of Mayo I can see it still Its soft and craggy boglands Its tall majestic hills Where the ocean kisses Ireland And the waves carress its shore Oh the feelin' it came over me To stay forever more Forever more From its rollin' coastal waters I can see Croagh Patrick's peak Where one Sunday every Summer The pilgrims climb the reek Where Saint Patrick in it's solitude Looked down across Clew Bay And with the ringin' of his bell Called the faithful there to pray There to pray Oh take me to Clare Island The home of Granuaile It's waters harbour fishes From the herring to the whale And now I must depart it And reality is plain May the time not pass so slowly 'Fore I set sail again Set sail again Oh the Green and Red of Mayo I can see it still Its soft and craggy boglands Its tall majestic hills Where the ocean kisses Ireland And the waves carress its shore Oh the feelin' it came over me To stay forever more Forever more Stay forever more Oh the Green and Red of Mayo Oh the Green and Red of Mayo Oh the Green and Red of Mayo Oh the Green and Red of Mayo

Great song,Tip to win an "All Ireland" you lost 3 recent All Ireland matches by NOT punching the ball into the net,it's quicker and has ZERO tackles🙂I have loads more tips.....OBSERVE how the opposition scores, and COPY what you have seen ..very SIMPLE......best of luck...May the force be with you🤘B
