Bath-sheba wasn't summoned, she was taken by David's guards, 2 Samuel 11:4. The child didn't just die, god personally struck the child with sickness, it suffered for 7 days and THEN died, 2 Samuel 12:14. Why is it that NO ONE can't accept the fact that god killed Bath-sheba's first born baby? And all because "David made the enemies of adonai greatly blaspheme". So the child had to suffer. An innocent child. This wasn't a story of love or a cautionary tale. After everything he went through before he became king, as a king he behaved like god couldn't see what he was doing, that to me tells a much bigger story. Let's be honest with this story, for everyone's sake.
The people who wrote the Bible explained the death of David's child as God's justice for David's sin. God doesn't punish, God is love. Jesus made that plain. David's sin multiplied when he blamed God for his child's death, just as he sinned in having Uriah killed so that he could have his wife. The way out of such suffering is to stop sinning. Doing the will of God, which is simply good, is the way.
