Yeah, you need to visit an gojuryu or Isshinryu dojo, that's real power. We can throw 3 punches in the time a professional boxer of the same weight class can throw 2 punches. It's been scientifically tested, and we hit both faster and stronger than professional boxers.

Been practicing Shotokan for almost 10 years and I think this was a great video for seeing a few fundamentals most karate schools practice, put into use by a master. I especially like that you can see the master's relaxed but practiced execution of this kata. My first sensei always used to tell me, "You start off slow and deliberate to learn. Then, you move quickly with power in your kata." The master in this video is, in my opinion, the perfect example of what happens when you apply those in daily practice for years.

It's important to point out that what we see here is mostly kata (form) and this is not to be confused with bunkai (application). For many years I thought the kata was the way they wanted me to fight - and I lost fights as a result! But then I understood the concept of bunkai - applications and variations and modifications and tailoring what I learned in the kata that can be applied in a real self-defense situation. I lost the need for "how I look" and focused on "how can I make this work" , and it worked! This is a great video showing the difference between form and application - or at the very least it's a good place to start. Train always and stay safe 🙏

Beautiful performance ( the camera not showing all the movements , omits legs too often ) . and what I wish to ad is to underline how rich is the assortment of combination movements. In the reality of fight the instinctive reaction should bring the automatic response . Than the response could be devastating . This maybe the reason that in many so called tournaments the real masters do not participate . Basically the kara-te is NOT a sport . It is too deadly . The kata is not fighting . It is practicing , exercising. Of course we 've all known that , but I have had to say that . Sorry.

@@koeikankaratedocypruslimas9322 Yes it is Seipai. However Seyunchin is from 2:10 to 3:44. Several observations on Seyunchin: 1.You slide into a 45° shiko-dachi to the enemy and raise your forearms in a dual block from his kick while simultaneously tearing his body armor upwards and open to expose his vital organs. You then block his second attack of his arm and hit him in the nuts with your lower hand.As you do this you must descend and twist your torso to use your body weight.It's like a huge coil expanding and contracting. That's why body mechanics are so important .2. Seyunchin is a 45° degree diagonal attack sequence to teach you how to move in a counterattack. 3.Seyunchin builds up leg strength to promote self defense. The reason why it's taught early is because it takes about three years to master the kata with synchronized breath. Regards

Yeah, this is actually the Grappling Kata of Isshinryu Karate. I think the name literally means "Grapple and Destroy" in English. There are several devastating throws and standing grappling techniques hidden in the moves of this kata. It's very good for teaching basic throws to light green belt students.

Every karate video ever, have an intro with people dong some moves, sparing, or being hit with something, a few minuts of talking about how tough some old guy is, then the old guy being hit with blunt object on a piticular ariea, followed by more talking and hitting old people or their students. took reg karate when i was a child but never made it past my yellow belt. then later when i was 19 i found parker chinese kenpo and got my 1st dan. and then years later when i was 27 met this military man that was a neighbor of mine back in utah. and he started teaching me some aikido stuff. then we moved on from that to this program he had bought called rat system by vunak. rapid assault tactics for short. and then i met another buddy that started teaching me to box. and started teaching me muay thai. but never finished it yet. but i am getting ready to in 1 month going to start my martal ats up again. and this time im going to get a 2nd black belt in a different style called seibukan jujutsu. and then after i get a black. ill start krav maga. and work towards a black belt in that. and then planning to move back into muay thai. and do shoshin ryu and thinking when i finish those styles im thinking about adding 2 more panantukan. and white tiger kung fu.

Alex Mash I’m looking at his movements and the intent behind them. The confidence and the muscle memory that only comes with decades of discipline and dedication.There is a difference in a novice doing kata and a seasoned practitioner. Not every thing is about sparring and fighting. That’s the modern MMA/jock mentality. This is a man who is in his late/middle years who will still be in good shape as he ages. I’m sure if he had to defend himself in real life he could. Sport, competition, sparring is a small component of martial arts.
@alexmash1353
@alexmash1353 5 лет назад
@@Cab0408 Competition... yes, small part of it. Sparring? Definitely not. How do you know if it works if you never really applied it? What is the basis of your confidence? If just by doing kata year after year, then it is baseless. Like reading cooking books and practice cutting with knife movements without cooking anything and boldly calling yourself a pro cook.

Lovely video. Karate will always be timeless. We sometimes put it alongside MMA in discussions but they are different things all together. Both can work equally well in self defense. A dog is good on its feet where it can move and bite very effectively. A cat maybe less so but it can still fight well even on it's back.

Me too. I though what I practiced was pretty "traditional" but when I went to Okinawa, all the sudden Shotokan feels like a sport, because most of the training in any styles there focus so much on subtle internal "actions" and close quarter movements. Very intricate indeed.
