Fun Fact: The editor thought Coraline was too scary for kids, so the director, showed Coraline to his daughter to see if kids would get scared. She said she wasn’t scared, so it go the green light. Later though, she admitted that it had scared the living shit out of her, but she didn’t want to disappoint him so she said it was good.

Coraline is like one of those movies where... when a movie really gets you in the feels, where some movies make you scared because it was scary or it made you cry because it was sad, like... you hated it for that... but at the same time, you loved the movie because it was so good at that... that it drew you in and made you feel this way, which is what made it a great and successful movie. By the way, I'm 18, nobody asked I know But only OG'S will know the movie Number 9 it is literally the most terrifying movie but it is also sad because it was made to show us World War 1 or 2 but trust me for the new ones watch Number 9 it is a good movie it's a kids movie witch shouldn't be since it has some death stuff around it

1) We're not gonna just skip over Other Father's song. OMG, that song was haunting even with the upbeat mood. His song was everything you needed to know about the place. 2) The book is far more creepier. Like for the fact the Other World is within an eldritch monster and the Other Mom was seen as a parasite. The rats talked about an uprising, and that they work alongside the eldritch creature to get rid of the Other Mother.

You the movie was based on a “children’s” book named Coraline wich is 10x creepier! Like idk why the author thought that the book was child friendly. It’s very descriptive.

I watch coraline at least 3 times every year with my sister, every Halloween as well. One of my favorites along with the nightmare before Christmas. It’s an amazing movie

So there are theories about this movie that I really enjoy, one is that the well is magic just like the door. Look around the well there is a mushroom ring, also known as a fairy ring, in folklore it is connected to magic portals. So perhaps the key got back to the beldam (Other mother) and Coraline is still in danger. Another I like is that the other place is an entity that needs souls and the other mother is an unwilling participant that hunts souls to feed the other place to save herself or perhaps her own child. So we see a portrait of a blonde boy in both the palace and the other place, maybe the other mother was an owner of the palace previously and she had a child that was taken and she made a deal.

The crazy thing is that in the book, it's hinted that the Other Mother is not even the most scary thing in the Other World, as the tunnel is suggested to be alive...

That scene where the other mother motions a smile for the other Wybie was so creepy. I use to think she was just telling the other Wybie to smile but now ik she's telling him that I'm gonna sew a smile like omg
