I'm so, so, so grateful Zach didn't suffer any brain damage while the shunt wasn't working properly. My father had adult onset hydrocephalus that went undiagnosed for a few years and then after the first shunt surgery the doctor didn't stay on top of things so my father had even more fluid build-up and by the time we finally got another neuro surgeon to step in it was too late and too much damage had been done. My father was in hospice for nearly 2 years before he passed and couldn't communicate at all the final six months of his life. My biggest takeaway from all of it was make sure the doctors listen to you and your symptoms and if they don't, find another doctor. The doctors who act like they know everything are the ones who are the least capable. The doctors who are open to new ideas and new ways of treating things will look for solutions.

So glad Zack made it through. Amy would drop everything to help her kids. She is a one of a kind woman. Thank you for sharing your story and your true feelings. Of course it was a very scary incident in yours lives. Zack, ignore the internet. They do not live your life. And Tori, you are great at ignoring them. People, this could be your story some day. 💗

It's gonna take time for them to work things out. I feel like they're both a little nervous. I think when Tory re-watches these, she'll realize that she keeps cutting Zach off when he's talking. It takes a lot of retraining in order to correct habits.

For insurance, always call on those denials, request appeals and to speak with an advocate. Tell them you are filing a complaint with insurance commissioner, etc. they will usually take another look and pay..

same here and it really annoys me when people say I am lazy or I should just push through it. With Tori's comment about a deadbeat Dad make me wonder if she has ever had migraines as she wouldn't even say ANYTHING like that. They are debilitating as when your head is involved it is hard. At least if you have a sore arm etc, you can concentrate. My husband rolls his eyes as have no compassion at all. I sometimes wish he would get one then he would understand. My record is 14 days w/o relief.

One issue I wanted to bring up , as an OBYN nurse, I really felt your pain when you lost your baby. I have dealt with many patients during their loss, and during your episode regarding losing your baby, I believe that there are many women who can share their experiences with you. It is not bringing up a personal story, but, sharing the love, you and Zach have during a difficult period of grief, many women have experienced.

It's true. I had excruciating migraines for a period of three years. I worked at a place where the supervisor mentioned she got them and it never stopped her from doing to work, so anyone who said it did was just being dramatic and making excuses. I didn't say it to her face, but I wanted to say how wrong that was, and she best be grateful if hers weren't that bad!! Eventually a headache specialist out me on an injection that stopped the cycle of mine and I have only had one since. ❤

I'm as bad as Zach. I have epilepsy & always refuse to go to the hospital. During covid I had my last huge seizure & broke my neck in my own house. Woke up with paramedics in my face, confused & told them no hospital I'm fine. The next day I woke up still in pain & walked into the er. The Dr.s scanned me, came back in the room & told me I broke the front & back of my neck. C1 vertebrae which connects your head to your body. I was speechless & just looked at them confused. The dr. told me it's a miracle I'm alive. They had to rush me to a hospital with a Neuro Surgeon & it was over an hour away. When they told me I'm lucky I said no, I'm blessed. God has a plan for me & I think it's to spread awareness about epilepsy. Invisible illnesses are the hardest to deal with. Many jobs I can't do because of my epilepsy but now it's worse with my neck. No one sees any of it. It's tough.

I was very interested hearing of your experience. I had a shunt placement in 2021 at age 50. Many factors led to this but hearing what you went through really hit home with me. I'm fortunate to have a fantastic neurosurgeon here in Maine on my case. I do fear the time I may need a revision. Yes, it definitely is brain surgery, even my neurosurgeon said it's a common procedure but it's still brain surgery. Glad you are feeling better Zach.

God bless you both that you are there for one another! And you are so right on about being an advocate for someone who is going through a difficult health challenge. Also, there has to be a solution for medical insurance. I don't have a solution either but someone out there who is smarter than I am, must have an answer. Thank God Zach you have been doing so well in the past year. I love that you left in the spot where your children were wanting to talk to you during your podcast. That is real life and that is what I love about your podcast....real, authentic and genuine! I'd like to hear you talk about stepping away from the family farm, the TLC show, what do you do for a living, how do you get income from what you do and do you follow a budget. I remember watching the show that when Zac had his last shunt revision, before then he was having a lot of headaches, so not sure why that connection wasn't made before.. Zac yes you are not dramatic, but don't put it off to the detriment of yourself.. you have a family that needs you too, so don't worry about looking dramatic! Too many men put their health off, and that could contribute to why they die at a younger age than women do! Take care Zac!

So happy Zack finally found the cause and was able to get it corrected. I think we all need to remember that Dr.’s are Practicing medicine. Honestly, most of them have no idea. They play the elimination game. Which can be scary and dangerous. A good reminder to live as healthy as we possibly can to eliminate health issues. Obviously the struggles Zack experienced had nothing to do with lifestyle. Praise the Lord he is better! 🙏

Super scary. My son, not a dwarf, had a shunt at age 5. Migraines started at age 6. Until age 13 he had a least one major migraine a week, like what you are saying. Never a problem with shunt what they said. Finally age 16 we found out why. Those years were truly the hardest of my life. Divorced when he was 9 and no help from dad. Watching your baby in so much pain is truly horrendous. So Glas Zach that you're okay!❤❤

I had to have exploratory brain surgery too. They passed me from neuaralist to neuaralist and numerous tests and they couldn't find the problem. They finally talked a neurosurgeon to come out of semi-retirement and he reluctantly agreed after I pressured him to perform it. I was in horrible pain. It turned out I had a condition that was so rare he had never seen it before in 35 years doing surgery. Surgery helped but did not cure it. I have trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial paralysis. Surgery was 23 years ago. You have to learn to cope. Thankfully I live in Canada so we have free health care. I never saw a doctor or hospital bill.

I am SO GLAD you left the kids' brief interruption in! Anyone with kids (or grandkids lol) can totally relate to that! You guys are awesome. Okay going to unpause now and go back to watching....

I too have a shunt was born premature. Have had it since 4 I’m 33 now been told constantly I might not need it. I still demand yearly check ups though it still all scares me Glad you are doing well now Zach!

Thank you for the PSA about health insurance. It is insane. And it seems to be getting worse. I wish something could be done about it. We're lucky enough to have Kaiser insurance which has been overall wonderful. But other insurances we've had in the past were awful.

so happy to see you both doing podcasts. very exciting. i just adore the 2 of you and love your family. the kids are beautiful and so sweet. i wish you all such joy. please do not listen to any rude comments. i really can’t figure out people’s motives . very disappointing. my advice is never take anything personally. people have their own issues. looking forward to keeping updated with your podcasts. 💜

I love a good talk show I can listen to at work. It’s even better when I like the people talking ❤ and when it has one of my long time crushes! Sorry Tori, but don’t worry, I’m like 30 years older than Zach 😝🤣 He’s just always been my fave Roloff since the start of of LPBW 🤷🏻‍♀️ and very happy he’s still with us. Can’t keep a good man down!!💪🏼

My daughter has hydrocephalus she thankfully didn’t need a shunt they just drained the fluid from her brain. That was 16 years ago! She goes for an MRI next month to make sure everything is okay! She’s average size person I’m so sorry Zach! Super scary and glad you are feeling better!!

The shuntogram should have put a radioactive material in the shunt that they watch on the X-ray to see if the tubing is working the whole way down. It’s crazy they didn’t see the shunt was broken for so many years?! The shuntogram should have picked up on that if preformed correctly?! My daughter had one done to verify if her shunt was still needed.
