Idk who the scariest Spider-Man is but the scariest Spider-Man writer is definitely Zeb Wells. Reading the comic book issues he writes is truly a horrifying experience.
@@kingdon7795With any luck there may be a heroic version of the Green Goblin not unlike the universe where Norman became a spider man and Peter/Harry shared the mantle of Goblin. Or the Goblin could also be a horrifying antagonist and that world is screwed from all sides, you never know
I mean, all things considered, that universe needs to just get burnt in fire. All the baby spiders he created are likely going to become monstrous killers...and clearly spawn by the thousands. Sorry, but *nukes form orbit and glasses planet*
@@kriegermaria9923 I don't know abut humanity... Patton was a serial killer, and could've easily lined up a body count in the hundreds (assuming no superheroes -- we don't know if there are other powered characters in this universe), but he wasn't really a world-ending threat.
Shows probably the worst-case scenario for Spider-Man. Grows up into a Sociopath because of no May or Ben. Then the Spider bite no only gives him powers, but it transforms him into a literal monster that enjoys killing with no remorse at all.
Personally, I liked that we got a Spider-Man who hunted and ate like a spider. Most versions of the character don't, so it made for an interesting change of pace.
If you mean Spider-Man from Earth-2149. I think he’s less creepy. Only for the fact that he retained his humanity and even found himself redeemed in the end of the saga. Sure, he may have the higher body count, and a similar sadistic nature at certain points (usually when his mind becomes clouded by the hunger). But, in my opinion. A savage yet remorseful, guilt-ridden zombie who still clings onto his good ways of yesteryear is an easier pill to swallow than an already sadistic, sociopathic freak given monstrous power.
Yknow, spiders have a lot of squick potential, but I never understand why people always go back to egg parasitism, the one thing they don't actually do.
Seriously! Wasps would be so much better for body horror. Parasitoids are scarier by far than parasites anyway, they don't leave until the host is dead.
Best thing I can come up with is the fact spiders liquidate their prey with enzymes in their fangs. A similar adaptation is utilized by starfish and those of you in the know will agree that is an effective body horror power.
And for that matter…why are they always portrayed reproducing asexually? Spider aren’t genderless breeding machines. They have biological sexes, and need to mate to produce offspring. And in most species, life as a male spider ain’t fun…
I've never heard of Morlun before but judging from the breif descriptions in this video and assuming he's always a villain, he could make a pretty cool anit-hero, traveling to different dimensions to kill the f----ed up versions of Spider-Man and other characters
If you want to know more about Morlun and all that deal, his first appearance is during the JM Straczsynski run. It's a great run, kinda weird but the interesting type of weird, really recommended! He has more appearances, but imo this is the most iconic
I wish Marvel or DC would do a line of horror comics geared towards older teen or adults. Make them much more darker and pit our heroes against some true nightmarish villains. Now that would be epic
There was a bunch of pretty dark runs in the 90s. Spiderman encountered the wendigo, with graphic imagery of the victims; batman had his back broken and his replacement was possessed by a psychopathic maze entity; batman also was strapped down and raped by Talia; professor X became a dark God and started killing the xmen. There is a reason so many comics got rebooted in the early 2000s
Imagine Patton's horrified face had he survived just a day longer, to see the object of his love be consumed from within because he's a twat that doesn't understand his own powers. A great Midas moment he never got.
I can't tell which I would prefer. that or the idea that maybe he could have infected her with his spider DNA so she could become his "mate" and because of Morlun putting the kibosh on all that Sara Jane ends up becoming this universes Spider-Woman.
Holy fuck. I felt myself rooting for Morlun until Sara Jane turned out to have been bitten. The one time a villain does some genuine decency like this…
Maybe it's just me, but I'd love to see a heroic monstrous version of Spider Man. Like, Peter keeps his usual heroic demeanor, but he has to deal with becoming a thousand spiders in a flesh sack body.
theeres already one like that. Spiders-Man. Peter Parker fell into a nest of spiders and got eaten alive. The spiders became a hive mind and thought they were Peter Parker and had all his memories. Spiders-Man under his suit was literally just tens of thousands of spiders stuck together forming the shape of a man in a suit.
there's also the spiderman with 6 arms; in 616, morbius's blood is the cure. in this guys universe, morbius died prior and ended up forever having 6 arms. it makes him more efficient actually
The only spider comic that would genuinely terrify me is one where Spider-Man actually has a good life with no pain, loss, or strife. It would break my grip on reality 🙃
Well if Miles from the Spiderverse movies gets his way then he's probably gonna be the first. Unless you wanna count any Spiderman from shows aimed at very young children.
3:30 That exchange between Patton and the bully at the locker is perfect. The bully thinks his victim is being overconfident, but Patton is just happy to get himself a filling meal.
At first I was expecting Sara Jane to turn into this universe’s spider woman after getting bitten by a radioactive spider (aka this spider man) but no it ends in the most horrific way possibilities
Honestly I think I would have preferred that ending. Not only does it give us a brand new fascinating character to play with who could be either a hero or a villain but it would make more sense than parasitic spider birth powers. I can only imagine how badly her first interaction with Peter Parker would go considering who Patton was.
This was the first spider-man comic I ever read. It was certainly unnerving without any context, the only one I had was it was in another universe. Luckily not all the spider-verse comics where like this one when I continued reading, but good read nonetheless.
Fun Fact: There's a horror movie called Earth vs the Spider from 2001, that's basically what Brightburn is to Superman. In this case a horror version of Spider-man, where the main lead basically becomes the Man-Spider. Also another bonus fact about the film, it stars Pedro Pascal in one of his earliest roles.
The ending is def a tryhard scare to make the story more horrifying for people who already don’t like irl spiders anyway, and honestly I was hoping it start to turn sarah jane instead but nah, just more insect babies from within which is more commonly known for wasp behaviour rather than spider also was an ability that spider in the lab had parthenogenesis for some reason? I mean okay fine I guess
@@DoctorNoon2717 I mean, in the comic he even said that he wouldn't hurt her, but it turns out he injected her with spider eggs through his teeth? Doesn't make much sense.
@@DoctorNoon2717 I mean psychopaths tend to latch on to one person they wouldn't hurt. Regardless, this comic wanted some sort of Goosebumps esque "gotcha" ending, so they made one. It isn't a very good comic. It is what it is.
This Version of Spider-Man reminds me of some serial killers (including Jeffery Dahmer like you said), mix with 1986 The Fly where Jeff Goldblum character turns himself into a half-fly & half-human monster.
Why were old school movies so obsessed with people turning into insect monsters? There was also another movie (don't remember the name i am sorry) about some dude becoming a giant cockroach monster and it would wear their victims faces on its head, it got really focused on attacking our group of protagonists because, and i kid you not, it wanted to fuck the girl in the group, iirc they literally used her clothes to bait it where they could kill it (i don't remember the specifics, but that part of what the monster wanted stuck with me because young me found the actress really hot and when they reveal why the monster was after her it was a total boner kill because now I was deathly afraid of the possibility of seeing a giant cockroach trying to smash
@@KibitoAkuyaMimic 2, it wasn’t even a man that became a monster, just a heavily evolved bug that can mimic human faces, and had wanted to “mate” with the female lead, creepy AF
Suffering from Arthritis myself, I do wish to see an Arthritic spiderman and their day to day escapades. Surely the genetic mutation from the spider bite alleviates a lot of pain? I hope....
In a way that would actually strengthen the whole secret identity thing, you wouldn't expect spiderman to have arthritis so you wouldn't suspect an arthritis stricken peter parker
I don't know how arthritis really works, but one of the treatments i can find is, Physical exercise helps relieve some of the pain. Physical exercise strengthens the body. Spiderman got enhanced strength from the Spiderbite, so wouldn't his strengthened muscles be alleviated from much of the pain? Also, Spiderman usually leads a very active lifestyle as well.
@@91rumpnisse There are different categories of arthritis, namely degenerative or inflammatory arthritis. Physical exercise can only do so much for someone who’s bones are degenerated.
Morlun coming outta nowhere is a godsend, a deus ex machina. Like time stopping on Conker’s Bad Fur day, something that shouldn’t have happened and yet did. The horror villain, killed so easily
I like that he was a piece of crap before the bite. It's another reminder that powers don't usually make a character good or evil, just bring out what is already there.
God that last panel is not drawn super well. She looks like she's yawning rather than screaming bloody murder. The eyes should've looked way more freaked out.
This is basically the Earth vs the Spider remake, a film which caused me to have arachnophobia due to seeing it when I was only 8. I'd be mad at my dad, but he thought it was some kind of Spider-Man thing, not a horror movie. This was 2001 and we had no built in TV guide at the time. Also, why did I watch this when I knew it was gonna be like this?
There was a movie like this called "Earth versus the Spider" where a guy injects himself with some experimental Spider juice thinking it will turn him into a superhero but ends up becoming a spider monster who eats people. The make up and effects were not really that bad in the movie and i actually kinda liked it. Give it a watch.
This reminds me of the early oughts horror movie remake of a fifties movie called "Earth vs. The Spider"... You should check it out if you'd like to see the actual movie version of this else worlds story...
I'm glad instead of using Peter's name to just ruin his ideals further, they instead change up the name to show that this isn't the same person. Because damn they really make that man suffer
Seems more like a repeat of the Smallville episode "Metamorphosis" crossed with "Tales from the Crypt" (the second influence being overt). Interesting to see Morlun in a more heroic role, if only coincidentally.
That would have been rad but I'm pretty sure she just dies at the end. Unless maybe they make *that* a nightmare she has, and instead she wakes up with powers.
The problem with this story is that a film came out before with a similar storyline, which was a what if parody spider-man into a horror. So it’s fascinating that it was brought back in this way.
Watched your videos for quite a bit now and I don't know if you have or haven't bur you should take a look at IDW's transformers run, one of the best versions of the autobots and decepticons I've seen with some really solid shocking scenes, regardless love the content and how you approach each comic can't wait for more
Imo this story explains how important an Uncle Ben figure is in a Spidermans life. Miles has his father, Peter has Ben, Miguel has Lyla, Patton has Ted. Patton had an abusive Uncle Ben, which turned his path down to evil
Nah to me the scariest spider man is one where a bunch of spiders consumed peter parker but his consiousness remained. Hes nothing more clusters of spiders that form spiderman
In the end of the spiderverse storyline, all the dead spider people came back to life so this particular Spider-Man is alive and quite possibly committing mass murders
I'd say that Poison is the creepiest Spider Man for me: A Parker who rejected his ressurection and ends up being bonded to Venom again, becoming a new being.
probably a good reason for me to not like multi-verse, you can have a good normal guy or a complete psychopath. (this isn’t a comment to hate the video, it’s just something i DON’T like thinking about because you know why)
Technically worse than Zombie Spider-Man, he ate people too but at least he was one of the only zombies that felt guilt about it and he eventually found a cure for the zombie virus.
