The developers of the Gigeresque mod were inspired by the terror of the first alien movie, that’s why you can’t harvest blocks or bring eggs back to your base in survival. They don’t like people researching Xenos in game because they are supposed to be an unstoppable force.
I don't really get how that would stop em from being an unstoppable force considering everytime that happens shit goes wrong and the xenos wreak havoc, but it's their mod i guess.
the only reason i dont add infection mods and stuff is because they can evolve on their own, what i like about this is it requires someone to activate it
That is my exact issue with Infection Mods! I think they're really cool, but I want them to have to be activated first before going and destroying the world! Much akin to the Wither Storm mod, where you have to do just that to start the chaos.
@@GhostlyyMC can you put Warden vs xenomorph Queen. I bet the Warden will win. What would happen if you mix a Warden and Xenomorph Queen together, imagine how scary that was in Minecraft. Xenomorph warden in Minecraft.🤩☠️😏😈💀
If anyone is looking for another horror mod that is not too well known, there is Beware the Rain. One of the mobs added managed to even trick me. It’s very cool.
Hello, one of the devs (and creator) of Gigeresque here! Thanks for the vid and glad you liked it! The eggs and such can't be easily moved since gig doesn't try for the old avp take where it was to make "labs" and "zoos". Gig goes more for a prequels up to the original 70s Alien for inspiration (with bits from other stuff that fit our internal lore), which more of the lovecraftian elements those movies have, which is why the focus isn't on swarming bugs and a big bug mother. In fact, the original 70s movie outright cites H P Lovecraft as an inspiration, calling the alien "second cousin of yog-sothoth" and the planet they're found as "on the elder god's doorstep". Also later there will be unique loot in the mod, just our current focus is making the current aliens very good and also working the result of breaking the seal... pandora's box style. Also to address the large, bugdinosaur-shaped elephant in the room: no, gig will not get queens. They take away from the impact of the other aliens (reducing them to just fodder goons and mass produced eggs to be shot at, and making the queen the only part that matters, as well as making it the ONLY catalyst for them to spread). Gig is more based off the first movie and prequels, which lack queens. Queens were only created in the second movie, which had no one from the first movie helping on it, so the original take of the aliens was not designed to need queens. However, we will get Templebeasts later, special boss-tier aliens and similar that are only found in dungeons and cannot be created. Also, to play off the having to start the infestation yourself... you def should check out the newest 1.21 release
@@Dankimus3607 No. Half of those are not even biological (blazes), are plant based (creepers), or are some hyperdimensional being (enderman). And ultimately, what would they even do other than be an enderman or whatever with a xenomorph model? We also don't want to have monster collector elements where people are encouraged to "collect em all"
@@cybercat5555 ok, I understand now. Still a fantastic looking mod, probably gonna recommend this mod to a friend of mine that loves Aliens. Hope the mod finds major success.
I think the Queen could be in the background somewhere in the hive, all the way in the back of a pretty dark room with a window like opening (so the player can't see her very well) and full of eggs or something (so the player can't go inside to get a better look). Feel like that would still keep a pretty good part of the horror being focused on here but whatever im no horror expert and it's your mod, hope to see more of it!
honestly. just way too many of them. i dont blame whats his face (forgot his name) for not imedietly releasing the bear man or deep dweller. actually he released one of his commissioned mods recently. i dont know which one
@@AliceIzuragi6291 your talking about "idk someguy", and the main reason he didnt release either of them is because he came to learn a certain someone was planning to rip off the code and make copies of it
Whenever I play with Gigeresque I have never been able to find the alien structure. But the aliens are really cool. Except the runner ones since they don’t help reproduce.
I used to play the mod up until the developer discontinued it. I used to talk to the guy pretty frequently. Glad to see this getting some love again. I used to play on his server too. Looks like the animations and climbing mechanics were pulled from the original mod. Cool to see it back in some way, even if it doesn't have all the cool building blocks and whatnot from the orignal.
I'm the creator of Gig, and I did used to work on AvP. However, Gig and AvP have no relation outside of being alien themed and me working on them. We didn't use any animations or ai from AvP (we literally can't due to the license and since gig is animated with geckolib, avp was animated with code, which can't work for gecko models) Gig's creative direction is different from AvP. Gig goes from a more prequels-first movie take, with extra lovecraft mixed in (which was actually an inspiration for Dan O'Bannon, one of the creators of the original 1979 movie), which is why there is no human-based tech or blocks since they're out of scope.
@@cybercat5555 Thanks for the reply and information. I appreciate it. Cool that you worked on the AvP mod. Ri5ux did an amazing job back in the day, and I’m glad to see your purely alien mod. Your animations are outstanding.
Pretty Cool Mod and a Difference from all the now boring and VERY TRENDY Cave Dweller mods! Have not watched the alien series but i do know some stuff about it! Keep up the Good Videos!
Resin does not spread on its own, since its something produced by the aliens vs a living thing (a bird nest does not grow on its own, a bird has to build it). Aliens will however spread it if its dark enough
This mod's really fun to mess around with in creative mode. I like to boot up a superflat world, find a village, place an egg, break open the door so the alien can get in and out later, and watch the carnage unfold.
i remember as a kid seeing the original avp mods and really wanting to play them, im really hoping with this mod it can pave a way for AVP to return to minecraft, i would like to see more aliens such as the queen and praetorian, the predators coming back and maybe add abandon weyland yutani research stations that have xeno outbreaks in them
We're not gonna add queens (don't fit the setting and just lean into "mindless bugs" and "mass produced minions") and likewise no preatorians since there is no castes or hierarchy. However, there will be boss-tier xenos called "Templebeasts" later which will only be found in the dungeons and cannot be created. One of which takes visual inspiration from preatorians. We're not gonna add predators or weyland yutani stuff for the same reasons above. "Gigeresque" comes from "H R Giger", the guy who designed a lot of the alien stuff from the first movie and a bit of prometheus, so adding predators does not make sense. We're also not gonna be a tech mod and in our internal lore, WY does not exist, since the mod has a more "Mountains of Madness" take vs "scifi infestation".
@@cybercat5555 fair, i mean giger did like the alien queen from aliens and i think really the expanded comics universe are to blame for the whole mindless bugs part as they still showed lots of intelligence when queens were involved that and i guess you could also say the avp films especially requiem are also criminal for making them mindless fodder, but hey its your mod and your vision glad to see someone doing the xenomorphs again after avp was abandon years ago
@@Gragel_Fragel Giger more said he liked the design of the queen, rather than what it stands for. He actually said he liked Alien 3 more than Aliens (even though he was pissed about how he was treated on A3). I also personally dislike the queen design-wise, it just feels overly dramatic in a bad way and just an emaciated dinosaur bug, rather than what I see as "related to giger's alien"
The mutant popper and stalker are from the game Aliens: Fireteam Elite in the Pathogen DLC. If they originated from a different source then mb, but that's where I know them from
It would be cool that if their hives get too out of hand, they start producing royal jelly to turn one of their own into a Queen to increase egg production. And at that point the hive cant be ingored anymore and the player has to go down there to deal with the queen or compleately move to a different area of the world.
"i'd love to see someone survive 100 days with this, it impossible"- Ghostlyy... IM DOING THIS, IM GOING TO SHOW THAT THIS IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE, so... who wants to join me?
That’s so awesome I just wanna find a mod for the marines and go in with some players to fight them as a badbutt marine >:3 (I don’t know but hope theirs like a gun mod too :w:
This will not happen to gig at all, not npc or pc queens due to creative direction. Also playing as a queen would be pretty boring. You just sit in a cave and pump out eggs.
Oh that mod is so cool, it would de awsome to see not just 100 days, but have like 4 or 5 people all in one server and have like a little game where the last one standing wins for however long it takes, they could also have some guns mod, and some sort of shader for th spook factor If they REALLY want to go melee against these things Wich is a horrible but extremely entertaining idea They could have the epic fight mod and that one mod that gives that mod more wepones And we could like see their progress and stuff oh that would be so cool
Ok yeah ive clicked on some cave dweller vids every now and then...but just because i had nothing else to watch... the thumbnail ALONE was enough to make me instantly watch
Wasnt there a larger scale, lower quality xeno mod that added all this stuff with expanded types and growth systems? I definitely think the workers should grow into a queen at some point in their life, maybe after converting a few eggs and impregnating a few hosts, one will begin growing into a praetorian and thus into a queen...this mod for sure has potential
We won't include queens since they do not make sense in the mod's internal lore and they demand the attention to themselves. We don't have castes in the mod and we won't, since we're taking a less bug direction and more cosmic horror one. We also won't add more host variants (unless a really valid reasons for a new one comes up) since we don't want to make this a monster collector game with xenos. Also we want each xeno to act differently from each other, and we try to flesh out the ones we have as much as we can, rather than scattering potential abilities across many types, when logically they could work for a preexisting one to make them more interesting to fight
Hey, this mod doesn't do anything when I download it, like, nothing appears in the creative menu, I really want to make all the infection mods fight but this mod literally adds nothing for some reason, I have Azure-lib so it isn't that
@@GhostlyyMC nvm. The mod creator said that he would never support bedrock and that it's a a shit platform. Fuck non-pc players ig, all the cool stuff is for those in the master-race (srry for the rant, I'm just pissed all the cool mods have no good ports)
i wanna throw in my vampire modpack and add this mod. and in a far off part of the world, just release them. them head back to spawn and enter survival to begin my vampire journey, the mod requires some time to set up, there will probably be multiple hives by the time i actually gain any power
You may need to use a ChunkLoader datapack (Vanilla Tweaks has one) or mod to place some chunk loaders so that way the chunks will stay rendered and the aliens will spread when you aren't nearby in-game. Just beware that for each chunk loader you place it keeps that part of the world loaded until you remove it, so it will keep using system resources (i.e. RAM, processing power) to keep that chunk loaded until you destroy the chunk loader block itself. All that to say... don't place a ton of loaders unless you have a NASA supercomputer or you will lag out, but a few of them will give the aliens a head start on their territory while you aren't nearby
