Just leaving this here for reference... 1:10 "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream 2:12 "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath 2:26 5:31 "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple 2:44 "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC 3:20 "Touch Me" by The Doors
This scene made such a short work of the whole plot build up so fast. We went from him getting bored at work to full on rock band in less than 5 minutes. Cutting right to the meat of the story. Jack’s expression, energy and good natured enthusiasm just makes it inevitable that everyone is of course in a band now.
I had a music teacher like that. He got me into the guitar and music in general. He was as crazy as Jack Black lol but he was great. Really hope music teachers are as passionate as this.
@@atirathanand5509 i'm thinking of the ones i can say directly he used: iron man, as carolyn wolf said prior to this, smoke on the water by deep purple, and that other one i'm thinking the who or acdc's highway to hell, but i really can't remember who made the one where jack /dewey/mr schneebly starts dancing that weird dance while playing xD
Check out Katie's expressions and her overall look throughout this whole scene, and then watch Zach's song in the competition. Her transformation (along with all the others) is the best part of this fantastic movie.
Yes and her bass-face when she copies Jack in the montage later is one of my favourite moments, you can tell she's really commited to being a cool bassist 😄
This is the most pivotal scene in the entire movie. There Mr. S is, taking a wiz, going nowhere in life, when suddenly, as he pisses on the world below him, he hears music from above, perhaps from heaven. From this point on, his life has purpose and takes an entirely different direction.
Me and my dad watched this 2 days ago. At the end my dad cried, and I was genuinely so confused at first, but then he said it’s just amazing how a group of kids can make amazing music like this. Amazing film, my all-time favourite.
LOVE this scene! Really awesome to know they put it together in like one cut. That guitar riff is so simple but so dang catchy. And especially love the freakin’ rockin’ solo by Dewey too! 😆😅 lol. Ahhh, such a great classic of a movie!! 😍❤️🎶🤟🏻🎸🔥
Do you know any other version of the adagio that resembles what they are playing in that scene? I have searched forever but only find very… adagio haha slow pieces that dont have the soul of what is playing in this movie.
Like the brass section is playing a very nice ‘dun dun dun’ part that you don’t find in the original orchestral pieces, and the cello is also very nicely keeping beat
As their teacher, he gave them the greatest gift of all-- self esteem! And praise! If you don't have it, you're not going to succeed. Love this movie!!!!

0:47 To. 1:11 was the reason why I decided to spend my piggy bank money at the age of 9 and buy and learn the guitar, my family thought it was a phase and my siblings didn’t think it was a good idea, I never did learn the guitar, guess music is not in my blood, but I still love listening to it, and this scene will forever be a great memory of mine and this movie is my childhood!
The best was at the 5:47 marker when the two girls give a silent look to each other that captures so much in that little move they do while Jack is just starting to take off into unknown territory. Kudos to those small gems they sprinkle throughout. 👍
Awesome! And so it is not lost in the mix, don't miss out on the piece they are playing at the start: concierto de aranjuez. It's so beautiful. Search for that piece plus Brassed Off for a fantastic version. Even better if you know the film.
I am happy every time watching this movie. Causing tears to burst with joy And thinking about the atmosphere in the old days when he was a child and famous rock music

Musically this scene is very brilliant. The way he connects with kids through music. Playing deep purple-smoke on the water, especially with the comedic solo from jack black. The kids discovering music in a different way..brilliant scene.
You are likely young and unaware where he references this from...there was an old ad for the Yellow Pages (back when phone books were 10 inches thick and in existence) that sang "Let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages."
The first time I watched this as a kid I recognised all of the songs Jack and Zach played, Iron Man, Highway to Hell and Smoke On The Water Glad my parents let me listen to good music
What's amazing is how Mr. S is able to work with these kids - Zack has never played electric guitar, Lawrence has only played the piano, Katie only the cello and the drummer merely percussion. Yet he improvises and, damn, if it doesn't work.
After the events of Tenacious D, JB decided to bring his talents to the next level by becoming a mentor of Rock sharing his knowledge and wisdom to the young students who will grow up to be the new generation of Rock n Roll
Saw this in theatres when I was 13. Had a guitar but never played. After watching this movie I went home picked up my acoustic guitar and I’m still playing to this day. This scene is awesome. Thanks jack
