Foam isn't used at all. It practically serves no purpose in sound absorption. Rockwool and Fibreglass wool are lined along all four walls with a minimum thickness of at least 2 inches. The panels are thicker behind the screen where the main speaker channels and subwoofers are placed for better sound absorption as well as cancellation of sound reflections as these speakers are the loudest. The concrete walls of the theatre are also built in such a way that they're extra sturdy and do no allow sound waves to escape into adjoining auditoriums and lobby areas. This applies to the double-doors in the theatres as well. The rockwool and fibreglass wool on the walls are then covered with wooden framed panels which are covered with tapesry, depending on the interior decor of the auditorium. Some cinemas even use saw-dust panels or woodfibre panels. Especially the older models of theatres constructed in the '60s and '70s I'm an acoustic designer for cinemas so you can trust what I'm saying and avoid arguments in the response column. You still get marks for your attempt in explaining cinema sound-proofing.
