It's finally done! Let me know what you think. Again, thanks for your enthusiasm and curiosity Music: "Ukulele" - Bensound.com www.bensound.com/royalty-free-...
Have you thought about making a rubber bone or egg with vinegar, a jar w/ lid, and a little time. We did a ton of cool projects back in the day, where we used several different peanut butter jars and lids, and then used the process of osmosis, where we had to first remove the shell from the egg with vinegar. You do this by setting the egg in the jar, then fill it with vinegar (Acetic Acid). The acid eats the shell due to the high calcium content of the shell. Then, you're left with an egg with just the membrane. After that, very carefully, remove the egg and dump out the vinegar. Replace the vinegar with colored water, or even plain old Caro syrup. Osmosis will take effect. Note: The thicker, or higher viscosity of the liquid, the more suffocated the egg becomes and will leave the egg pretty empty inside of the main membrane. Also, set up several jars and eggs when removing egg shell with vinegar. Once the shell is removed, the membrane is very fragile and can pop easily. This way you won't waste 24-48 hours waiting for the shell to be removed from just one egg. And make sure the lid is tight the entire time. Anyway, that's my request. Thanks for doing these vids; my kids are really into things like this, and I forgot how fun these little projects are.
+Tim Akers Thanks for your input that means a lot to me. The egg experiment is a good one; I've done it in lab a few times. I'll be able to start shooting again in June, and I'll definitely take that under consideration. I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed it. I try to keep a balance between fun and informative, and hope that it will inspire kids to think scientifically, or at least appreciate the astounding mechanisms behind everyday processes.
If you don't have white flowers, you can also use celery! Or really, any plant with a stalk/stem. I imagine a leek or green onion would work as well... Maybe you could set up an experiment and compare the effectiveness of each!
maybe but probably not. I used to have this channel linked with my name and many people found my Facebook and sent me very creepy messages. Safety first, sorry!
