What I know is that we are all connected. I had this same experience and that light, bliss, joy, energetic vibration visible to the senses and a knowingness of all is real. You don't need drugs to connect to this amazing experience. I went from depressed to blissful joy in an instant. That was 11/2013 I'm no longer the same. I shifted and I am still learning.

I too had this experience, and I've looked at reality in a completely different way ever since. I was reluctant to talk about it at first, but I confided in a few close friends and discovered that several of my friends had the same type of experience that goes way beyond an intellectual understanding of oneness. For anyone who has had the experience I recommend Perfect Brilliant Stillness by david carse. It's on RU-vid as a video/audio book.

Dear Cassandra Vieten, What a beautiful explanation you gave on this subject. Very thoughtfull, very convincing and so absolutely true. Thank you for sharing this with the world.

I came to the realization that everything is interconnected about 20 years ago about a year after returning from Japan. I remember the night as I was standing cold and alone on a rail platform waiting for my train home. It was a revelation much like what Edgar experienced. Such moments are usually filled with awe. Unless you have one its hard to describe. I later discovered the term "The illusion of separateness" and this appears to embrace some of my understanding. The western mindset is that each person is separate. However I feel this illusion is one created by egoic thinking. If you have been educated to focus on personal gain, consumerism, systemic bureaucratic rules and scientific determinism, what other world would you see. There is another and its rare to find anyone that has the tactic experience of this other world view. There is a kind of mental relativism at work here, as if there is a watershed of consciousness. Upon which side of the mountain you will fall is an interesting question.

Thanks a lot for a highly interesting and insightful presentation! Shame, though, that TED "flagged" this. Every subject with the potential for widening the perspective on consciousness is obviously to great a 'risk' to present ...

Joanna Marie Skovgaard Is TED full of pseudoscience? As the global TEDx movement grows, some local events have been targeted by speakers who make unsupported claims about science and health - from perpetual motion to psychic healing. TEDx's science guidelines clearly state that science and health information shared from the stage must be supported by peer-reviewed research. If you have concerns about the content of a TEDx talk, please write to tedx@ted.com and let us know.

brilliant presentation. i think this is a topic which we have to take more seriously because it is something which has been consistently brought by our ancestors be it in Hinduism, Buddhism or Christianity.

The first experiment you show us was conducted by Dr. Jacobo Grinberg in the 1980’s as part of a more complex study called Potencial Transferido. The results are publish in a book called Alicia en el País de La Conciencia (Amira Valle and Leah Attie)

What a wonderful talk!! Thank you, thank you, Cassie! If people could only tune in to these concepts perhaps peace would reign....the work done at the Institute of Noetic Science keeps this hope alive.

TED will remembered the same way the chruch of Copernicu's time is remembered.
@atthehops
@atthehops 11 лет назад
You'll get over it. There is science here but it needs a translation since Institute for the Noetic Science filters their understanding of the sciences through a psi-spiritual lens. What Vieten is describing is complexity and network theory, psychology and social psychology (which is a soft science). The double slant experiment is quantum physics. The IONS just wants to put their spin of it.

"Note from TED: We've flagged this talk, which was filmed at an independent TEDx event, because it appears to fall outside TED's curatorial guidelines." TED Talks, the hip new cutting edge, of obsolete reductionist orthodoxy.

@@atthehops Actually, Dean Radin, Michel Persinger and Daryl Bem have shared such research with the science community showing reliable effects of said phenomena, but in every case they are dismissed out of hand due to the orthodoxy suggested by the poster you similarly dismissed. You have only contributed to the proof that orthodoxy, taboo and paradigms do actually exist with or without peer review.
@atthehops

@@silversurfer4441 I have followed Radin's research for a couple of years now (random number generators). His results seem to me to be inconclusive at best. So I have two questions for you: 1. What exactly do you believe these people's research proves that is being ignored? 2. How much do you know about science specifically or in general?

Lovevolution is a new word/concept we can share. A free open domain word we can use and spread to help humanity to focus in a positive direction during this time of radical change. Lovevolution can act as a common denominator for the interfaith community and new models of science. Please accept this gift of this word to connect humanity in this common purpose.

Thank you a great presentation! Science supports objective-empirically based observations.. But what is objectivism? To me, it is a compilation of subjective experiences. Is love real? Do we doubt of its existence? No. Yet, we cannot "see" it, but we can sense it. How about if these higher-emotional cognitive capacities are there also, but that we need some practice to conjure them?
@quendordoom

This leaves some crucial gaps! What exactly is a departure from randomness, what does that mean? Also, how are people clairvoyantly observing a double slit experiment? What exactly are they doing?! The most (if true) mind blowing elements one can take from this talk are not explained enough at all. Surely the greater the departure from common sense, the more solid the science and explanation should be.

While this is not based on traditional science, it is not voodoo either. It may or may not turn out to be valid. Meanwhile, I think we have the ability to think for ourselves in evaluating it and deciding whether or not to accept it. I appreciate that TED talks don't want to wander too far into the realm of imagination and wistful thinking because then, anything goes. Well, if it's interesting and entertaining, why not?

Fair enough, some of the past papers presented there don't stand up to scrutiny. But what about Dean Radin's own work? I find the ganzfeld and double slit experiment stuff quite compelling.

"...we suspect its claims about remote viewing would not be accepted by most scientists" Do you realise how stupid this sounds? I thought TED was about new ideas a different perspectives that weren't widely accepted? You don't have to accept what the (or any) presenter is saying, in fact you should question it to the fullest degree, but censoring it? Lol, just no - never listening to another TED talk again.

Funny that some people can't even consider the possibility of this being actually hailed as a science. These are the same people that go to churches and temples everyday and pray. Tell me, from an extremely objective perspective, what exactly are people doing when they are praying? Sending some mysterious signal from their brains into the void? Or just speaking to themselves in their mind hoping that God is listening? These questions need to be answered and the IONS is doing that in a way without sounding to gibberishy and actually using the tools of science that are available to them to give their experiments some real weight within the scientific community. Unfortunately, we still don't possess the tools to conduct real experiments in this field.. I mean, how can you quantify or theorize any phenomena that's invisible to the human eye? The day such noetic science is considered an actual science will be the day that science in humanity will find it's next renaissance. It will alter the very paradigms of science and can result in a new age for humanity

Now I REALLY object to the use of the word "science." Don't get me wrong, I don't object to the video itself (people are free to believe in whatever they want), just to the attempt to legitimize the video as "science." It reminds me of arguments for "Intelligent Design" as being "scientific."

You reject the use of the word science because of your own personal connotations of religion? These people know the limits of "science" in the same way they know the limits of "religion". They understand that they are two ways of looking at the same thing and have their advantages and disadvantages. This video is more of an abstract overview of what her and IONS are tackling using science. Yes, PhDs, PsyDs and MDs doing science...
