Between you and the rest of the world lies an interface that makes up 16% of your physical weight. This is your skin, the largest organ in your body: laid out flat, it would cover close to 1.7 square metres of ground. But besides keeping your organs in, what is its purpose? Emma Bryce takes us into the integumentary system to find out.
Lesson by Emma Bryce, animation by Augenblick Studios.

I have actually thought about that myself for a long time! My thought was why not create clothes that are skinlike? If you get some dirt or mud on your skin, you just apply some water or soap & it dries within minutes.. whereas if you get dirt on your normal clothes, you have to wash them & then they take long time to dry up.

2.The video talks about the role of skin in the human body. The skin forms the basis of the integumentary system. It includes 3 layers: epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous tissue. The skin performs 3 main functions: protection, thermoregulation and receptor.Microorganisms living on the skin are also part of the skin's immune system. In conclusion, I would like to say that thanks to the skin, we interact and feel connected with the environment.

Is anyone watching this and taking a moment to say thank you to ourselves? This is just our skin alone ...it doesn’t even go into all the other organs and their individual working intricacies... I’m always so in awe of, what we can naturally do! It is a shame that we forget that not only can we do all these things to stay alive but we are so biologically good at it we are not even in control for most of it ...it literally just happens, our bodies are so amazing that we must be mindful of how everyone of of us is a blessing and a master piece of Mother Nature. Everything else we can do (talents and skills) and have (things we achieve in life) makes us all a little bit more extra ✨

what about skin products? many people use it to maintain or enhance the beauty of their skins, some people unfortunately suffer the effect of those skin care products due to certain substances which damage their skins but most of those are the fake ones, I'm talking about one of those skin care product that has *natural compounds* on their labels and also the other widely used skin care products that you might find at the stores. Does our skins still remain *naturally healthy and same* after we used those products

Skin is the biggest organ in human body. It had 3 layers. Epidermis, dermis, hypodermis. Each layer has different functions including everything. Epidermis: first layer of skin, mainly consists of pores, dead cells that flake off every day. Dermis: a middle layer of skin that mainly consists of sweat glands, sebum, oil glands, hair follicle, blood vessels, nerves. Hypodermis: a layer only consists of fats of oil

This is a helpful overview and introduction, but if you are using this video to study, beware, think critically, and cross-reference carefully with your textbook. E.g.: @ 0:52 - Other sources give "thin skin" thickness as 0.10 to 0.15mm (much less than 0.5 mm stated here as the minimum); "thick skin" is 0.6mm to 4.5mm. @ 3:37 - Other sources give the volume of blood circulating through the skin as 5% or 8-10%. Answer 25% on your test and you may get it wrong. @ 4:17 - Arrector pili muscle should be on the opposite side of the hair follicle ("under" it when it's lying flattened). When muscles contract, they PULL the hair vertical, rather than pushing it, as shown in the illustration.

At .43secds in, the nerve looks like a vessel? This a macro capillary, consider a transparent vessel and the color of a vessel is determined by its substance(contents), a shared cytoplasm would allow the movement of heme or have an expanded voltage gradient over the nerve fibers(organized heme, proteins, antibodies ect) , plasma could be a example of a shared cytoplasm with unorganized proteins drivin by currents and insulating blood cells with organized proteins, having a different current in the pericardium to the myocardium, a rbc enters the liver into a different current through the capillaries different than the current of the bloodstream for instance considering the size of a rbc with the distance across the liver without pressure from the bloodstream and how long it would take the rbc to get to the other side of the liver without the pressure of the bloodstream and heart with vassal restriction as a mechanism it may take a rbc a week to get to the other side under pressure with a inhibited current(fluid movement)

Quote from the Holy Quran, An-Nisaa 4:56 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِمْ نَارًا كُلَّمَا نَضِجَتْ جُلُودُهُم بَدَّلْنَٰهُمْ جُلُودًا غَيْرَهَا لِيَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا നമ്മുടെ പ്രമാണങ്ങളെ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞവരെ നാം നരകത്തീയിലെറിയും; തീര്‍ച്ച.
