Actually, that is very good. Not bad at all. I am a junior in high school and I run my 100 average in 10.8 seconds but I'm not in the 100m dash. I'm in 300m hurdles.
Jacob Brede Makes sense. Distance runners use slow twitch fibers, and Sprinters have fast twitch fibers. So you can easily outrun a sprinter, but not beat them in a short race.
