Raising turkeys involves a lot of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Meet Ron Kardel and his turkeys and learn all about the science that is applied to raising healthy birds.
Interesting. My father raised broilers. He was at one time the longest tenured grower for Golden Plump. I recall him sharing when he first started growing birds it was all about disinfecting, cleanliness, and between the flocks the barn was cleaned with excruciating detail. That became less important in time, and less taxing. A while after that - it even got to the point when a new barn was built - before they ever put birds in the barn - they would take manure from our barn and spread the manure on everything. Floor, walls, ceiling. The thought process they got to over the years is than an established barn had more benefit of natural immunity than any benefit they could ever attain with intense disinfecting activity. Anyway, thought I would share. Enjoy the birds!
I love these birds! I wanna squeeze them! I’m used to being around horses never owned one did weekly lessons though. So turkeys are nothing bad to be around just like being around horses!
