Very polite and grounded boy - at this time we live in, at his age that was the most impressing part at all in this video and then directly behind of course the convertible 😄
Have you ever done a video on the sounds of knight rider? like the turbo boost sound the weapons sound and the many other used through out the show. It would be interesting to know how they were created.
I have been lucky enough to sit in both the train derailment and screen used convertible car when I was younger. The train derailment car used to be at Keswick Englands “cars of the stars museum” and the convertible was at their newer museum in Edinburgh until both museums closed down. Feel privileged to have had the experience. I think alot of these vehicles including the A Team van, Street Hawk and the Mad Max Interceptor came from the same collection that once was in the UK
I visited from the UK to the museum a couple of weeks ago. The first screen used KITT I have ever seen! Childhood dream come true! And the museum has some amazing vehicles as well, the Streethawk bike was so cool.
The Starsky and Hutch Torino isn't just a replica but was probably one of the original special edition Gran Torinos produced by Ford due to the show's popularity at the time. A Google search shows 1,305 of those were made, I remember seeing one in town here in the 90's. The 2 KITTs, Knight 4000 and A-Team van are cool to see, Dezerland would be an awesome place to go to.
The A-Team van was painted with semi-gloss paint because they found that the film crew would be reflected on the van door so they painted it gray under the red stripe and shot it with semi-gloss clearcoat to alleviate that situation. The Monkeemobile was made using a 1967 Pontiac GTO by George Barris I believe.
the "mad max interceptor " was found in a scrap yard in austrailia and restored before being put where you see it now. it was in really bad shape when found
I saw all those cars when the museum was in North Miami. I remember telling Butch Patrick that I had seen the Munster Koach there and he went shortly after to see the car for himself.
Very nice. The Hannibal Twin 8? Amazing and yes the young lad needs to see The Great Race as it's been one of my " ok I'm watching this" movies since I was his age or younger. Apparently thanks to TV and film resolution back in the day I was today years old when I learned the A Team van was 2 tone with a red stripe and not solid black but probably the two that grabbed my attention despite how brief they were on screen was the Speed Racer Mach 5 and OG FAB1 ( the bubble top,six wheel pink Rolls Royce) from Thunderbirds because those were my first automotive objects of desire, yes I'm old😊.
Cool man! Thanks for sharing. The Miami Vice Daytona convertible was a replica, just as all the ones on the show were. They were fiberglass kit shells on corvette chassis with a Chevy 350 small block built by Tom McBurnie. There were less than 50 original convertible Daytona Spiders built at that time, and most were outside the US. An original Ferrari Daytona Spider convertible sells for several millions of dollars and were not that much cheaper back then either. The white Testarossa on the show was another kit car that was a fiberglass outer shell on a Ford Thunderbird chassis. I am surprised they didn't have one of those as well. They also needed a Viper tv show car too. Cheers, Tim
The C button! My brother and I spent the episode trying to guess what it could be, and before the big reveal we settled on it being chain guns. That would have been cool too
yes joe i have sat in that very car when it was here in the UK at the cars, the stars motor museum thank you for telling us a little bit more about itaka tour car b I remember seeing the St Hawk bike as well, because it was from the cars, the stars motor museum. It was actually parked right next to kitt.
Dezerland is an epic experience, I highly recommend! I saw the KITT's in early 2022. I remember noting the dent in convertible KITT's hood, but his scanner seemed normal then. Glad to hear that's being worked on. I never knew that convertible KITT was just a normal Firebird without the Trans Am trim! Also, that Herbie is screen-used, in the 2005 remake movie. I got to sit in it when I was there :D
For those wondering the Fast and Furious Integra is most likely a replica because the Fast gauge RU-vid channel owns the screen used one along with other screen used Fast and Furious cars including the blown up eclipse and the stunt used eclipse.
Some cool cars in there. That licenced tour car will be very desirable - not because of the knight rider look but just because its a 40 year old car with only 6 miles on the clock. The only reason i went to The Star Cars museum in Keswick UK in the early 90s was to see the convertible Kitt. They had it shown on their tour guide leaflet - but they didn't display it. Instead i got to see a regular kitt which left me a bit disappointed. I don't know if it was screen used or a licenced tour car or a copy. I just remember the disappointment. Joe, do you happen to know what that car might be or where it went when the museum closed? Thanks for another interesting video.
Very cool TV and movie cars, spotted also Mr. Bean Mini there. Street Hawk motorbike was also interesting to see. I actually have a Street Hawk motorbike toy, copyrighted 1984 by Universal Studios. A bit bigger than 1/18 scale, so not exactly to the scale displaying with KITT but still fun one.
I visited the Dezer collection in 2013. I did a fly&drive through Florida, and I just had to go to this museum. Being from The Netherlands, we never had the old classic american 50's, 60's and 70' cars so I wanted to go to this museum, but then I read somewhere that they also have movie/tv cars, so it was a done deal. I have a picture of me standing next to this convertible KITT car, but they redid it somewhat, because that does not look even close to what a correct scanner bar should look like, but the one that was in there when I was there had a few individual lights not working, so apparently they replaced the whole thing. But from what I can remember, I was in Miami when I visited this museum, not in Orlando? Anyway, also cool to see the Johnny cab in the background from Total Recall. Edit: maybe I should watch the whole video first before commenting, because now you are mentioning the incorrect scanner bar.
I believe this one came from cars of the stars in the UK, if so, it used to have red five point harness seats and indeed a stunt van. Does anyone know where the hero vans are now? After Cannell died, at least one probably changed hands somewhat recently...
And there's me going "Hey, is that MegaForce by 707 playing in the background....?" and there's the MegaForce bike next to Street Hawk. Pretty sure that's the pilot episode Street Hawk bike, too. IIRC they redesigned the bike for the show proper, to remove the machine guns.
Wanted to ask something different, but just realized thats the Knight 4000 Boat version. Was curious what happened to the one that was sold by the Bob Mosley YT channel.
4:35 so the Casper car was not screen used, but was still a part of the train derailment cars that went to Universal for what had to be intended use on KR? So it was a KR-intended TA but never used on screen, and ended up as one of six Casper used for the tour…am I understanding that right? I have great memories of sitting in one at University of Notre Dame’s ACC pavilion for the Calvacade of Wheels which had to be around that time - 83/84 maybe? So I sat in one of Casper’s six cars then… nice.
The KITT tour car is that the car from the Stars And Cars UK ? Think it relocated to Florida. If it is ive actually sat in that very car about 10 years ago. We got vip access. And allowed to sit in certain cars...KITT being one of them 😊
lots of cool cars here....even if some of the productions are unknown to us or suck, the actual vehicles are cool to see like I'm not a F&F fan in the slightest but you can't knock some of the cars they used.....and some of those old cars look amazing but IDK the productions lol it would be cool to see a more in depth vid at some point....
The original Knight Rider 2000 car is owned by someone else on RU-vid who has the Robocop police car. It was left to rot but believe he was or is restoring it. It also makes a cameo in Demolition Man
The A Team van is missing the deep front air dam. Was probably a stunt vehicle, I have seen episodes when the van is being raced around with no air dam. Might be the same one?
Is that the same convertable that was in the museum in the uk in the early 2000s? The museum was Cars of the stars. If that is the same car then its the one I sat in when I was like 6 or 7 years old and it was there I discorvered my obsession with this car and the show. I remember the museum guy let me sit in it cause it was really quiet and I was facinated by it. It had an electrical issue, the scanner and dash could not be on at the same time so the guy had to switch it over so I could see the dash
I was there too in the mid 90's and met Peter the owner of the museum, like you he let me sit in KITT which was a dream come true. I was so happy that I cried.
@Mythbuster3808 thankyou for replying. He was amazing,he welcomed me and my parents like family and as the museum was quiet he let me sit in KITT. In 2018 I got to drive a KITT replica.
I couldn't figure out why the coupe was there. The plaque was inside behind the front window not easily readable when I was there (Apr 2024). Makes a lot more sense after watching this.
The original A team vans were a shiny glossy paint, but too reflective for filming, you could see the camera crew reflection in the side of the van, they quickly had to dull off the paint to more of a matt finish
The kitt I think was from cars of the stars Keswick uk , I remember seeing it around 2004 , I have a Broucher somewhere , I know a lot of the cars at dezerland were bought from the cars of stars museum so I guess it's the same on e, if you google the cars of the stars Keswick you can see pictures of it here in the uk plus the a team van and the street hawk bike plus many others
Looks ot be an awesome collection. Someday the family and I will get there. I was wondering if they would have a Miami Vice Daytona, though it looks to be one not used on the show but one of the other McBurnie replicas. The clues are in the details.
The original screen used scanner of that specific convertible car was purchased many years ago by a guy named wassim razouk located in Israel if I remember well and he is one of the first kitt replica parts vendor many years ago!he has a video on his channel showing that scanner!
I renenber going to see that kitt,A team van and streethawk bike when they were owned by the star cars museum in Keswick over here in the uk.was gutted when they got sold and went back over to the united states😢.
Since that tour car came from the train derailment incident, why did this one not need to be crushed? Was it because it wasn't really gonna be used on the road?
Which car was at universal studios with the water surrounding it?? My 10 year oldish self sat in it in 1985-86 (I don’t remember the exact year) there is a picture I’ve been trying to hunt down for like 20 years. I’m 48 now
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial, you're right. Went back and double checked some pics. Reason I thought it might have been from the movie was that they "dropped" the van from a helo early in the movie. I should have realized it was the TV van based on the red stripe. It swoops up closer to the rear of the body on the movie version.
@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial then why would the van not have the GMC logo on the grill not shown? In the movie it was shown but in the series it was wasn't.
Ive seen many replica a team vans and alot of them arent jacked up at the back like the original.....which bugs me somewhat. In my book if you're building a replica do it accurately or dont bother
What the heck is up with K.I.T.T. replica builder's fascination with white lettered tires?!?! 😄 K.I.T.T. never, NEVER had white lettered tires and they're fugly.
