Gosh it’s terrifying to think about how CS Lewis predicted the rise of new age psychology and mysticism. Edit: also any prayer for the girl I know who’s been talking to ghosts that she stay safe.

"but worshipping what he vaguely calls 'forces' while denying the existence of spirits...". The Force, anyone? Since the stone age, "magic" has been about the knowledge of controlling and getting information from spirits (why God has forbidden it!). Only in the last few hundred years has magic become an impersonal force that can be controlled by "the elite" (a very Gnostic concept). I fear that Screwtape's hope is coming to pass.
