This felt like a TED talk about budget guitars. This was cool to watch it definitely seems like it sounds and plays very well. I'm not the biggest Mayer fan, but his passion for the instrument is very apparent.

I’m not even a guitar player and it’s incredible how this doesn’t even feel like an advertisement despite being one. It literally feels like John is talking to me about how dope his guitar is and not trying to outright tell me why I should buy it.

This is maybe the best infomercial ever done in the history of electric guitar. PRS is nailing its way to establish forever as one of the big three.

Whoever produced and directed as well as came up with the whole concept for this video is a Genius, Mr.s Mayer's playing goes without saying (fantastically effective). This is perhaps the very best guitar promotion/Sale Ad I've ever seen. Geeze, I think I could even watch it a second time. Congrats Mr. Smith and the entire Team at PRS. Mr. Mayer, Thank You very much for your mark in History.

I honestly think this is the best demo for a guitar-model I have ever seen. And heard.

Best artist demo ever. Other artist signature models they put their signature on the headstock or give a quick 5 second recommendation but John really shows he’s passionate about this guitar.

I have never watched a better demo for a signature guitar in my life. He definitely sold it. As a proud owner of a PRS guitar, I can most definitely confirm that it's the best guitar I have ever played. Sounds amazing, looks great, another great guitar from the PRS team. Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on one of these, sooner or later.

Only 2 screws holding the bridge down is a disaster waiting to happen, that will lift like my squire did and not much you can do except buy another guitar

Really sucks how much hate he gets. He’s like in my top 5 favorite players. Sure he isn’t a shred god and plays pop style songs but he still isn’t afraid to get soulful and bluesy.

John has really won me over in the past 5 years or so. I used to think he was douchey but he seems like a really cool and genuine person.

I could listen to John talk and play all day. His passion for the instrument and anyone who wants to play it is so evident and that’s why he sells this Soo well.

It's great how JM and PRS are emphasizing the "feel" and intonation of the guitar, which is what really separates the expensive ones from the cheap ones.

Kudos to PRS, this was a perfect way to unveil the SE Silversky. And I'm not a big Mayer fan. It's just quality.

The evergreen is GORGEOUS! I also love the gymnastics involved in avoiding mentioning the Fender Strat. Love PRS!

Incredibly methodical demo. Identified common issues with guitars, demonstrated tone and playability. Super well done, John and PRS. Now I wanna try one.

I have a PRS CE. Best electric I’ve ever picked up. I love everything about it from the headstock down to the switch and knobs. Everything is silky smooth and adds so much to the playability. Really like how the silver sky is setup like an older guitar, 3 pickups and nice pick guard. I got into PRS before i knew John did, now I feel I need more PRS guitars lol. My credit card company will be rejoicing.

Let's be honest, John could play a rubber band strapped to a flip-flop and it would probably still sound good

It’s weird that a pop singer/songwriter active in todays pop music landscape is a guitar hero. It’s so rare nowadays. Mayer is so versatile. He writes some great stuff. It’s mostly his blues stuff that stands above but it’s all great stuff. Really great guitarist.

Nice to see John doing his own, in depth demo. This guitar is going to sell loads.

That "show you how it feels based on hearing it" was amazing starting at 8:50. I was imagining how it felt in my own hand, the curvature of the neck, the fret ends, the neck finish, the radius, action, tone and attack. To be able to play those riffs in that way, and what comfort and playability would feel like, all skill being equal. Amazing. :)

6:50 "affordable enough" This man is saying that $850+ is affordable for a beginner. Is it a great guitar? Sure. But is it inexpensive for a beginner? No. A good price for a beginner electric while being pretty good quality is the $200 range.

I've never understood the hype around this dude. Then I sat down and listened to a few songs and really got hooked based on the amount of soul that comes out of his songs. This is the first time I've heard him speak. I'm buying this guitar.

The way he reviews guitars is actually really down to earth. A lot of review channel guys are more pretentious than John Mayer lol. Dudes just having fun and going over very basic specs.

First topic he gets right into is intonation. John really knows his stuff and knows what serious guitarists look for.

$850 is hardly a budget guitar but I suppose compared to the $2500 price of other PRS models is alright. Still plenty of great guitars with lower price points then this. I know my mom wouldn't have spent $850 on a starter guitar lol

Yeah……I can hear how that feels. This is the guitar many of us have been waiting for. This is a great thing that John and Paul and his team have done. So many refinements to a classic and iconic guitar shape and sound. From what I am hearing I don’t think there is much of a difference at all with the pickups from the core model to the SE. I think they sound the same. Beautiful tones in all five positions. My biggest fear is that PRS will not be able to keep up with the demand for this guitar. Shops will get them in and you will get one only if you pay for it early or happen to be there when they pull it out of the box. That may be a major problem and shipping them from Indonesia and being held in a port for months on end will cause these to come out in spurts over the next year and a half. Plus they will still be inspected and set up here in Maryland and I know PRS won’t compromise that. And they shouldn’t. I can’t wait to get one in my hands. Thank you John and Paul for your vision and your artistry. The world is a better place with both of you in it!

Good singer, great song-writer, fucking exceptional guitarist. Thanks for all the great music you’ve served to us mere mortals, Mr. Mayer. Also if you’re truly meant to play the guitar then you’ll start on a fucking stick stabbed into a tin can with one string. Quality is not an issue to someone in the beginning if they’re truly destined to learn that thing.

This guy is just being honest and that's why this ad is so unique. I couldn't agree more with his takes on budget guitars and learning to play. What matters most about cheaper guitars is that they stay in tune, are easy to play, intonate well, and sound good. I had an SE 24 that I recorded with and played live for about 2 years and it was a solid AF instrument and I'm sure they've only improved since then.

I don’t think this is necessarily overpriced. Inflation has really taken an effect on guitars. The fact that a MIM Player series Fender is selling for almost $1000 is kinda a testament to the fact that cheap guitars are sliding up the price range. I think what sucks is just like anything else with Johns name on it, it’s gonna sell out and resell for double and won’t be “accessible” anymore.

For the SE to be the affordable line, then the Silver Sky should be a more premium package with a hard shell case, case candy and more available options.

I got a silver sky the first year they came out and still love it. I'm glad that more people will get to experience a great guitar from a great company and player.

Honestly? I saw this and ended up buying the core model. Love the SE too, but this demo sold me on the core. Because if the SE is this good, the core has gotta be there too, right? 100% right!

Guitar tech here. I can one million percent back up the statement that lots of people are playing guitars that aren't set up properly and just think that guitar is a physically torturous instrument.

I love this. I hope the Fiore gets the same treatment as this one. I cannot afford the core model so I'm definitely looking forward to an SE model of the Fiore.

Wish we got to hear more about the differences between this and the US version such as the fretboard radius and why its so different than on the US model

My aunt followed this man all around the US for the last decade while she was fighting colon cancer. She died last march. I feel like it would be a great tribute to her if i got one of these. I have a few strats, and a tele. I played a silver sky last year at GC and loved it. Think im gonna get one of these.

I don't know what Jon's talking about. Those SE models are all for veteran guitarists who are either hobbyists or gigging on a budget. I'd get something cheaper for a beginner.

I own a lot of guitars, mostly mid level priced. I have a few SE's and they all play perfectly. When the Silver Ski came out, the first thought was - I can't wait for the SE model to be released. I have no need to own a $2000 bolt on neck instrument. I completely trust PRS to make a great neck, because they always do. Their trem system is better than Fender. Now I can get a SSS from PRS. What's not to love? I can feel myself bonding with mine already. I wonder what color it will be!

My 9 year old son is on the beginnig of learning guitar, I am extremeley proud of him because he is a John Mayer fan and he says when he learns good enough I have to buy him a John Mayer guitar. I am looking forward to that day!

Having John do this video is so smart. All you get from this is his passion about the model and the nitty gritty details. Really, REALLY sold me on this model.

I was a John Mayer fan long before I saw him driving Bob Saget’s Prius back from the airport (live on Instagram) but watching that solidified my understanding of his passion and more importantly his integrity & this video has that same passion and I believe - integrity. Meaning- he’s not trying to sell you a guitar because he’s getting paid to do so. He’s telling you exactly what he thinks and feels about it. I own a Mark Tremonti PRS SE and was contemplating the Silver Sky but just didn’t want to spend that much money on yet another guitar- but can’t wait to get my hands on this one. Thanks John for sharing your passion with the world and being an inspiration to others.

PRS has always done *really* well with their SE line. I wrench on guitars during the day and gig at night so I’ve seen dozens of PRSs from every price range (including two core models of my own). I can’t remember an instance of setting up/repairing someone’s SE where I’ve thought “ugh, this thing sucks compared to my custom 24”. I’ve even played a few SE 24s that closely rivaled my CU24 in playability. That’s one of the better aspects of PRS, imo…you don’t need to spend $4000 to “join the club” as it were, and you aren’t gonna get ripped off at *any* price point. I always cringe when clients say “it’s just an SE”. Dude, that’s a really nice guitar…you don’t need to qualify anything…
