I’ve only had mine for three months, but so far has been comfortable, durable, and accurate. Looks great too. I sold my Invicta PD because side-by-side, I liked this one better. It has a better quality much more comfortable bracelet, and doesn’t have all the gaudy “extra” touches of the Invicta. Time will tell if it holds up, but so far I’m very happy with it.
I recently bought a Corgeut 'Black Bay' homage with the the no date Seagull movement. Cost around $80 new - came in a polystyrene box with no papers/packaging. Really impressed with the quality Runs about +5s a day. The bracelet is excellent - even has screw links and a Tudor style clasp.
@@PerthWAtch yes. Your review got me interested. There seems to be a general trend for Chinese watch models to improve in spec and quality over time too! I chose the no-date version with the Seagull movement. It is generally cheaper than the Miyota version, but the Seagull is hackable and I like the idea of having a 'proper' Chinese watch, rather than one with a Miyota. The lume is pretty good on mine too - just about lasts overnight.
I bought my loreo hulk during the AliExpress November sale and I got it for under $60 dollars and I can’t tell you how impressed I am with this watch for the money I paid it’s actually incredible!
I bought my Loreo Submariner back in early 2016 and I absolutely love it! I also have the Daytona homage one, which is very high-quality as well. Couldn't be happier, Loreo definitely is one of my favourite watch brands.
@@PerthWAtch The movement looks a bit different compared to the submariner (more complications obviously), but there is no branding to be seen. Probably a Seagull again or a copy of one I guess. Keeps time pretty well, I'm not complaining. The winding feels solid, pushing the buttons also makes a nice click.
@@PerthWAtch I bought the daytona one about a year ago for a bit over 80 EUR, the price has gone down a bit since. You can easily find it by searching for Loreo under the category mechanical watches on aliexpress. Here's a link, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to open it, the address says DE in front due to my location being Germany: de.aliexpress.com/item/32868877390.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7af72510cjc8lZ&algo_pvid=0cbba8a0-ab54-45ed-9de4-5763ada8e314&algo_expid=0cbba8a0-ab54-45ed-9de4-5763ada8e314-3&btsid=91b6ab19-584b-44a5-b185-92d070cc79c6&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_1,searchweb201603_55
Nice looking watch. +12 seconds a day isn’t bad at all, but if you used one of those $15 watch demagnetizers on it, you might get it down a bit. I have a Chinese-made flieger with an NH35 movement that was running about +12 a day, and after demagnetizing it runs about +6.5 a day.
I would agree except that you can get the Pagani for $5 more ($75) with a Japanese movement, same sapphire crystal, solid end links and better cyclops- however the Loreo is in my mind in the same ball park.
@@karlsenula9495 that's is another great option for sure but sence he was talking about that watch just made my comment simple to that particular watch.
+Mark Phillips I totally agree, and that's coming from the Loreo being my first mechanical. My only niggle is it's borderline diminutive on my wrist, but it's a solid time piece for the money, no complaints here
Looks great, thanks Ivan! I chose the Pagani hulk because of ceramic bezel and the Seiko movement. My local Texas guy is a Seiko dealer, so service should be better. I read somewhere that Seagull does not lube at plant, leaving it to the brand...then most do not. Did u notice this?
Thanks for that Vince... can't say I really notice any particular issues with the movement but I probably haven't used it long enough for potential problems to manifest, perhaps?
Your local Texas guy will tell you it is a fake Seiko NH35. Runs great though..i hope it stays that way long time. All in all still a fanatastic watch that PD1639. Better bezel and better cyclops than the Loreo..and a lumed pip. Also the lume is actually great on mine.
I received mine a month ago. The movement is great, it was +13 seconds fast. After the adjustment it is +0.5 a day on average. The only problem is the bezel insert. It is made of aluminium and mine is already scratched. Bought a ceramic one from AliExpress but it is just a fraction of a milimeter too big.
It is certainly worth the price. Presumably the chronometer certification is from the Societe horologie de Toytown. I wonder if the water resistance and crystal are similarly certified.
I think it's Society of Horology In Tianjin. They haven't stated whether the crystal and water resistance rating are certified but I wouldn't rule it out ;)
It seems there is more than one version of the watch. I just checked and 20 clicks in the bezel moves it to the 50 minute mark, so 120 clicks on mine. Another difference is that it is much much harder to move. You really need to try to be able to move it.
Not surprising that there may be some variability in the bezel manufacture, as well as in other components. Some other brands sometimes even swap out entirely different movements!
Thanks for the review Ivan. As far as I can see, the Loreo is in direct competition with the Pagani Design. it could be argued that the Pagani is more of a Sea Dweller homage given its size, but I think they are direct competition. I have had my Pagani Hulk for 3 weeks....and I cant take it off ( not because of the stiff clasp) as I really love this watch. 2 seconds a day from the NH35, can't be beaten. How would you rate the two watches against each other ?
Hahaha I laughed at “not because of the stiff clasp” coz that’s all too true for some! :) As for how I would rate them - good question! Keep your eyes peeled for a head-to-head comparison coming out very soon! :)
@@PerthWAtch getting the clasp to open is bad enough, that little 5mm extension ..... Need a pair of pliers to close it. It's a good job its such a great watch in the other departments. Don't put a clasp category on your head to head, I wouldn't give it 1 . But..... I'm now going to buy another colour Do you think the gold on the two tone would rub off ? I like the look of it but scared to risk a cheap Chinese watch ' fake gold' finish. Have you experienced this (not on the Pagani, but generally) ?
Yeah on lower end watches the gold coating can indeed rub off. But sometimes they can be quite good, such as those on Invicta. Guess you can only find out by using it (or perhaps getting info from users on a good forum).
@@PerthWAtch I have two Pagani design watches the Hulk and a Seiko mecaquartz powred chrono, for $40..... Surprisingly good. Think I will trust the company and go with the black and gold two tone, after all, I am getting old, need a bit of gold on my watch :-)
I’ve been going through aliexpress a lot lately out of curiosity. It’s very interesting what you can get for very little money. I just ordered a bauhaus chronoscope homage by Gimto for 20$. Looking forward to a good looking watch for cheap. If this one turns out alright I will definitely spend 70 on that Loreo!
Good luck - I picked up three from Aliexpress for about $20 each, two Ochstin (one tank style and one GMT) and a Lige with moonphase and 'tourbillon'. I am not expecting a great deal for the price but if they work and look decent I will be happy. Will be interested to see how the $20 Ochstin GMT compares to the $70 Pagani I bought.
My Loreo bezel got 120 clicks, maybe they got some cost-cutting measure going-on? Aluminum bezel got scratched once, but 40mm ceramic bezel are easy to buy and I replaced it myself.
The cyclops, bezel and bracelet scratch rather easily. I'm pretty sure the second hand is inconsistent throughout each revolution; it appears to speed up and slow down visually. It's a great beater for a great price (i ended up grabbing one for $59.)
I'm quite drawn to the black dial and blue bezel variation. Why have Rolex never gone for that particular combo on the sub? Looks more appealing than the Kermit.
I have the Loreo blue bezel and black dial. I removed the cyclops and it looks so much cleaner. You can't go wrong with this watch. I highly recommend it.
I just bought one for $55 US delivered. Now just the 5 week wait and I'll have a better idea if it was worth it LOL. For the price if it runs when it gets to me it was a good deal IMO.
I just ordered yesterday for Ali-express 11.11 sale I unfortunately got the one on the nato strap and I kinda regret not getting it on a ss bracelet oh well I’m sure it will look great!
Hi, I just bought a Loreo sub hommage and receive it last week, second hand keep on stooping after a few minutes on the same 52/53 second spot, is this considered a wasted watch? Ali express refunded me but less $10, it’s either I send it and paid for shipping or that. It’s like a non question option so I just took the refund and now have this faulty watch now for $10.
Thanks for sharing this watch with us, since all watches need service eventually I’ll pass. My watch repair guy won’t even look at a watch with a Chinese movement. I have an Invicta Pro Diver which has a NH35A movement.
Recently obtained one in green. Sadly, it stops, and must be tapped or shaken and reset, indicative of a malfunctioning movement. Troublesome and difficult to rectify when obtained via internet outlet Ali Express or other/overseas distributors, but I shall try
I'm sure that Seagull makes great movements, but I recently read the opinion that there is no default lubricant in Seagull OEM-movements. Chinese manufacturers of cheap watches do not add this lubricant, therefore such watches do not work well. Therefore, it is better to look for watch based on Seiko/Miyota movements, or immediately check the Seagull movement in the watch repair service.
Chinese quality & price , great message to Rolex & the rest of the Haute' Coutier Watch houses , for 70. its all day long, I'll take the other 20 grand & by a any number of great watches for a couple grand & enjoy all the watches you could wear for many years. I am believer in paying for what I want ( vintage/ quality) & Not Getting Ripped Off, 20 + for a watch, really. Thanx P.S. Tx.
I picked up a "batman" version....for $64.00 US...hacking with a sapphire crystal...fits fantastic on my wrist...perfect size for my wrist....what more can you ask for...if the bracelet gets all scratched, there are third party ones
You should mention using AUD$75 as the base price for the Loreo comparing it to the Genuine Rolex Explorer the latter costs 230 times that of the Loreo. That says it all. If one can afford a Rolex, by all means, buy one NEW(if you lose or misplace or get stolen it just don't cry), don't risk buying a used one too many imitations around.
One problem is that many of us don’t have the contact to by a new Sub at retail even if we had the cash, thanks to Rolex limiting of supply. There are ways to ensure you are getting a genuine one secondhand.
@@PerthWAtch Rolex 'purposely' keep Explorer is short supply so as to keep the price high. Even I can afford to buy one I would NOT buy one. Take this scenario, after I bought a genuine second-hand Rolex on reselling not many people are willing to buy from me because there are too MANY almost identical clones out there, then I am stuck. I am not willing to take the risk. Look like you do cause you own so many Omegas, good on you but I am OUT.
Do you mean risk of not being able to resell? Thing is I am not really intending to resell those pieces. However I can believe that there may be problems reselling successfully due to the number of fakes out there.
Lets face it, there's only two watches in the best VFM Subby contest, the Pagani and this Loreo. Deciding between them is tough and might well resolve down to the size of your wrist. Both watches will sit comfortably on a 7 1/2" wrist like mine but smaller wrists might be swamped by the Pagani. Interestingly for me there are a couple of subtle things on a quality level that might lead you to favour one over tother. The ceramic bezel on the Pagani looks classier than the ally one on the Loreo but that Pagani bezel edge is a little sharp and less well finished. Its certainly likely to wear out your shirt cuffs faster! And the Loreo clasp looks poorer on the spec sheet but in truth is more comfortable and easier to use. The Loreo in green or black is fine but the blue one features face and bezel that do not colour match. Indeed, they clash. My point is that deciding between these watches is difficult, even with the help of great reviews like Ivan's. My solution was to buy both which at a total cost of less than £100 delivered to the UK is no bank breaker. But all owning both tells me is that both are very, very good but not perfect. My advice - buy the black Loreo and the Green Pagani...
Thanks for sharing those insights David, it is helpful to hear this from a user for sure! IMO I feel the Pagani has gone through and ticked all the "spec boxes" but overall falls down in execution and quality in several aspects, especially the bezel and bracelet "fit & feel". The Loreo is less of a spec monster, no question, but I think the bracelet and bezel definitely feel better. As for other contenders, well many others have suggested the Parnis Subby homage is worth a look, and for myself I still reckon Invicta consistency seems to be above these Chinese brands. The Pro Diver doesn't really tick the specs (apart from 200m and a real NH35 movement) but after going through over half a dozen, it seems to me that the QC is far more consistent.
I do like a good homage watch but I feel that the loreo isn't as well executed as the pagani the thing that would stop me from buying the loreo though is the "superlative chronometer officially certified" on the dial. Maybe I'm being a bit overly critical for the $ that you pay but come on guys! 😂 Great review as always! 👍
I have an aliexpress Demirsen watch with a seagull st16 movement which I know well as a great workhorse of a movement hacks handwinds +5 seconds a day good quality in all areas very comfortable to wear £51 shipped amazing value loreo looks very similar same specs for a daily beater watch some great deals to be found on aliexpress
Great review! Could you do a review of the following watches? - San Martin Submariner - Heimdallr Shark Submariner - Tisell Marine Diver I would love to see a Submariner homage "stand-off" between San Martin, Heimdallr and Tisell :)
Would love to do that but I’m not in a position to buy watches for reviews so will need to see what collaboration I can work up. Just so happens I’m getting a San Martin soon, although not the Sub homage.
hi Ivan. how are you again? LOREO.... I bought one over a year ago via Amazon, but I had to return it immediately because the movement wasn't working properly. As I watch this video, I just couldn't help myself by comparing this to Pagani Design Rolex Homage watch. I believe you already have reviewed that watch. With similar prices, I believe that Pagani really kicks Loreo's butt upside & down, big time. Pagani with better, and true 2.5 cyclops magnification, ceramic bezel, way more refined bracelet with screw-in. 1000% better looking clasp. AND NH-35 Proven Japanese movement. For me, the only reason, I did not buy this Pagani was that it was 43 mm size, not 40. (But I will be receiving 40mm version in 4 days here, Los Angeles. I paid bit over $100 (including tax), but It would be very interesting how it would look and work. Another Rolex homage, but it looked very sharp. there is no model #, but I bought it from Aliexpress and its description is : PAGANI Design Watch Men diving Automatic Mechanical Watch Stainless Steel Waterproof 100M Fashion Business Relogio Masculino). Anyway, going back to Loreo review, of course, it is a good watch for what it is. decent product for the money, however, there are better options in Chinese-Branded watches. Pagani is definitely better and some of the Parnis & Corgeut have better specs. I truly believe that unless Loreo up their games, they might be pushed to aside and never be able to come back... Thanks again for the wonderful review, Ivan.

@@Name7.62 yes, i got it. very nice. all excellent for the price and it will fit exactly like any other subs with 40mm size. if you ask me, everything is super good for the price, except bezel. bezel has some back play. besides that, it is a great watch. thanks
@@PerthWAtch Not really, I have bought a second one, its the same. I have standard black version and one with green bezel insert, both are the same but came in different boxes, blue like yours, and white.
Not Rolex, but look close. The accuracy can be adjusted to +4s/d, for this kind of watch more than good. One can swim with it, also dive to pool bottom, but any deeper I wud not stretch. Not meant as Rolex homage, yet a watch by itself. Aft 5yrs y might throw it, or keep it, as for sure it will keep on ticking... Achim, Singapore+
@@PerthWAtch A homage describes more a respect for something. Loreo steals a design like mny others do, uses their own label, different movements,. Its a chinese watch, whatevr y make of it.
I picked one up for $85.55 CAD (shipping included), but it runs between -15 and -30 seconds per day despite how much manual winding I give it, and keeping it in a watch-winder when I'm not wearing it. I expected better accuracy that that from as Sea-Gull ST16 movement, so I'm going to take it to a shop to see if it can be adjusted. I fully expect that I probably won't get with 2-3 seconds of accuracy, but i would at least like to see some consistent single-digits in the accuracy after movement adjustments are made. If anyone has seen a how-to video on how to adjust the movement, please send it to me.
Btw Ivan ,have you ever reviewed Aragon watches ? Just discovered them myself and was very impressed .Big dive watches 45 mm and 50 mm well designed with coloured dials that really pop ,Really amazing value too looking at their website .
I bought mine some time ago but it stopped working after some weeks. It just won't tick, as if there is something loose in the mechanism. Can anyone help me?
60,90,120 click it really doesn't matter. Divers do not time their dives that closely, they wouldn't dare. I have a rather expensive Chris Ward watch with a 60 click. What counts is the action. If Loreo, Parnis and Pagani can put sapphire on a cheap watch, why can't Seiko do the same with something that costs four times as much ?
Very hit and miss quality control on the Loreo. Good movement, but mine is not even humidity proof, let alone water proof. If you search reviews, you will find lots of complaints about this watch leaking. I would suggest upgrading to the Pagani Design, bigger, but waterproof, with a Seiko movement.
@@PerthWAtch I started searching watch forums when I had this problem, and it is not unique. Apparently depends on which batch of watches out of which factory.
There are a lot of these cheap affordable Sub homages/copies out there and from reviews comments it does seem their quality is hit and miss. Think I'd rather stick to the Invicta Pro-diver but as always everyone's choice is their own
Yes I think you’re right, every brand does seem to he somewhat hit or miss (maybe some have more hits than others) with the exception of Invicta who are clearly more established.
This is rather good for the money - the places where the watch lose to the Invicta are IMHO: the cyclops - almost no magnification and actually not sapphire. The crystal IS sapphire, so a bit odd. My other watches with sapphire and cyclops test for positive on both surfaces. This cyclops goes - I have ordered some sapphire ones with proper magnification, this will be an interesting project. Second complaint, the "Superlative ....." text. They should have just left it out instead. And the clasp, these ones just have such a naff aura around them. I will take the Invicta clasp any day. Ok, lets take a small one more: the missing lume pip.
Thanks for sharing those thoughts - you have made some astute observations there and I am inclined to agree with you! I’m gonna have to try testing our crystals and cyclops in some of my pieces!
@@PerthWAtch Thank you for not thinking of me as being too pedantic about the cyclops. It is very exposed to scratch damage imho and is often the first thing that gets scratched on e.g. Invictas. And it screams in my eye, like the non existing magnification on the Loreo... I have seen other watch channels that got a Loreo with proper magnification though. I hoped getting that. Dont know of it is sapphire though - I have not seen many watch channels testing the cyclops.

My Loreo Sub died after less than 10 months, the vendor was not interested to assist, actually said that I had gotten enough use from my purchase!! I replaced the movement myself with a ali express sourced movement. However within 2 months the bezel stopped working, the click spring post snapped off. I would not recommend this brand at all.
@@PerthWAtch full refund from AliExpress, but I would have had to pay for shopping thevwatck back to the seller ($34). So, I kept it. I guess this will be a beater.
With the link you've given us to purchasing this piece - I can't help but noticed they've literally just stolen an image of a Rolex Submariner and photoshopped their logos over the top, the date magnification, lugs and crown size are completely different, slightly misleading if you ask me. Nonetheless on paper it's a decent watch.
"superlative chronometer"..."officially certified"...I don't think so. Fake marketing like this would immediately remove this watch from my short list.
I guess the first thing to know is that I really like this watches build. Here's what I don't like about it. This watch is shit quality. Well the movement that is, is shit. My watch never worked properly from day one. Sometimes it just stops, then starts, loses time then gains like an hour. No rhyme nor reason for this. It will keep good time for a week, then off its tits it goes again. I contacted the seller who said he would fix it. He gave me some bullshit address in China, that Australia Post can't handle and it would cost me over $25.00 to send into the dodgy Chinese mail system. So, what to do? Well, I'm going to bite the bullet and get another mechanism for it and have a go at fixing myself. Picking another ST16 seems pretty pointless, as most reviews say that this movement is garbage due to poor QC at the factory. Apparently, when Sea Gull sell their movements off to third parties, they sell the junk and keep the better quality movements for their own branded watches. Off into the abyss and black magic circle of watch repair I go.
Thanks for the taking the time to share your experiences with this - much appreciated. A real pity the movement really didn’t work for you. I won’t be surprised if Seagull ships out inferior movements, however I wonder if there is any further substantiation of this…?
If you are going to buy a watch.. why would you not take your time... save.. do your research and buy something with class and confidence. It is a chinese replica piece of shit. There are thousands of better watches between This jalopy and a Rolex ...
If you are going to make a comment, why would you not take your time and think a little first? It only takes a second of thought to realise that not every human being on the planet is in the same financial circumstance as you. This is a good piece for the money and it is not a replica (again, you should look up definitions of words before using them incorrectly). Understand? ;)
