I bought one over the winter and my son and I got to use it for the first time this week. We were both impressed with it - except it was difficult to control direction when we tried to troll. We found adding a rudder to the trolling motor MAY help with that issue (it hasn't arrived yet, so we haven't found out if that cured the going in circles trying to go straight). Enjoyed your video and liked hearing it won't roll over, that was a major concern of mine.
Just bought a foldcat. I’m a fat guy. 260 lbs. I have to enter the foldcat from the water because we don’t have docks in the lakes here. Went to launch it. Put my foot on the pontoon with my other foot on in the water. The whole thing tilted sideways. I was prepared for that so I didn’t fall in or lose anything. I never ended up getting in it because then I realized the Newport trolling motor won’t secure to the sea eagle transom. Today I’m going to try getting in by putting my foot in the center of the aluminum plank and one hand on the seat. I’ll also fix the transom issue with wood. Any suggestions with the boarding issue. Thank you. I very much appreciated your video. It was the most useful fold cat video out there for me. Thanks again.
Your welcome.. I am 300lbs and enter from the shore all the time. the stand up bar at the back helps me a lot. I had to put a piece of 2x4 on the transom to get it to clamp down, give that a try and give it a lip so it cannot slip up and off. You can create a lip by attaching another piece of wood on the top, helps a lot. I have never flipped it and I have stood on one pontoon, make sure inflation is proper.. have fun, I love mine..
Love your video! When did they go to the 4 air chamber design? I am looking at a white one that looks to be in great shape for $375? Are you able to replace a pontoon if you need to or do you need to throw the boat away if you get a puncture that is not repariable?
I dont believe you can replace a pontoon, no need in my opinion, these are built aligator tough and you can patch them, they come with a patch kit, although I have never needed one. The multi chambers came out when they added the casting bar, not sure of the year, awhile ago though. THis boat is all I want in a boat, you will love owning one.
@@terribleatfishing It does have the casting bar so it has the new design and it sound like even if it has a leak it may still be a great deal. I am going to go pick it up on Wednesday. Thank you so much for the information!
I'm buying a used one ... 400.00 low usage and was one of the last years before the green color .... Is one of the older gray color ones ok? Appears in great shape ... Will use a trolling motor
No the bar fits just fine to the rear. As for the soft floor you are not suppose to stand on it, but it is strong enough for my fat body more than once.
@@alexpinheiro4622 I strap the battery onto the slat, I only take one oar and slide it under the front slant. I use to keep the oarlocks on but I seldom if ever use the oars with my motor. I use an oar to get out of lilypads but not much more. I have a lithium ion 100ah batter by lossigy it is fantastic and lasts forever.
