Definitely agree that one of the best parts of these books is how realistic they portray BS bureaucracy and how that slows things down and ultimately accomplishes nothing. Which is unfortunately their goal sometimes. But in this case obviously that is a major obstacle since human existence is on the line. So it’ll be really interesting to see how the whole deal with Bingwen and Captain Li shakes out. Currently, as much as I hate Li for how he has treated Bingwen, I’m definitely on his side as far as taking out incompetent idiots who are gunna lead to the downfall in this war. 🤷♀️
I just did a search on YT of this series. Why? Because I'm rather bothered that it has not concluded. Yes, I know that Card only helped shape the overall plot and AJ does the real work. I'm certain that the publisher is rather irate at this point... contractual dates have to have been totally ignored. My thoughts: Aaron Johnston did a great job in building this series to a peak. He probably thought that the "heavy lifting" was over and the payoff would be quick and easy. Then COVID happened. I was thinking: FOR SURE, with lockdown, AJ will connect the dots and the final book will come out in short order. Long order. REALLLY LONG ORDER. I'm beyond being annoyed here.
I thought the second formic wars fell short compared the first formic wars. I read the second Formic wars a couple years ago and now I can hardly remember the details. Thus wasn’t great.
