I'm looking at this place on maps, is it a surf spot?
@tedsmith3061
@tedsmith3061 3 месяца назад
@@WHDRWN yes, but there are sharks there. Great whites. Deep ocean off Bolinas point.

@@tedsmith3061 I would be worried if there were no sharks in such a beautiful stretch of coast

Been there. This town is also known as Dogtown. For a very special reason. It's almost mandatory that if you live in Dogtown you most certainly have one. Most likely a few dogs. Dogs go everywhere with you. I had the best time of my life staying there for a couple months with three German sheperds. We lived in their motel (Smiley's), partied at the tavern below the rooms, shopped at all their stores, ate at all their restaurants, visited every venue, bought their gas and that's saying something, made friends with everybody and even camped in their cemetery all with those places and things I did with my sheps Pikachu, Cinnamon and her brother Thunder. All 120 lbs malinois no nonsense sheps. The town loved my pack and we loved that town. Very special place. At all costs must remain that way. No place like it anywhere.

Dogtown is actually an area between Bolinas and Olema

People talk about the sign all the time but it's not like there's a lot of roads there, it's still easy to find even without google maps.. its more of a symbolic thing to not have one..

Pretty much correct. From San Rafael you take Sir Frances Drake towards the coast all the way to Olema, where Drake "T" 's, turn left and just keep going. Somewhere along that section of road you'll see the only sign that let's those who know what it means that says "Dogtown"...that's when you know you're on your way to Balinas.

Bolinas is an inspiration to everyone who wants to preserve the great beauty and natural charm of Northern California. Developers and their profiteering formulas are the scourge of anything that is authentically aesthetic. One day I will pay a visit to the Museum, have a light lunch at the Coast Cafe and, if I am lucky, to meet a resident or two.

If you purchase land there you will not be able to get water. They do not want any new building.
@basehead617
@basehead617 5 месяцев назад
It’s not only that - the very small water source cannot support new housing. Even the current residents have had mandatory EXTREME water rationing in the last few years..

You can buy land, but there are zoning laws that you can't even camp or off grid.

Saviors of their obscene property values. Turn it into a state park using eminent domain.

"great" reporting with the first EW establishing shot actually showing the place over two minutes in, then just a few more photos of some street.

This is a story that's repeated throughout California and that's the reason we have a housing shortage, I understand the not in my backyard but something has to give. This country would look a whole lot different at the Indians would have had the same attitude the people in Balinas have😂
