Yes,a great book! Your thoughts are very interesting, I like how you mention the Dionysian aspects to the novel. Always a big fan of any art that takes it's cue from Greek mythology, and presents it in a modern context. I'm thinking of Doctor Foster and Medea as one recent example, few know of. Medea yet the power of that narrative resonates timelessly though the centuries. I can recommended Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch (it's as good) Please keep posting as I love your heartfelt enthusiasm for the written word !

Yes, I would really like to read more modern reinterpretations of classical texts - one I'm hoping to read this year is The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. I'm glad you enjoyed The Goldfinch, I'm sure if I do read it I'll make a video about that too. Thank you! :)

I read this earlier in January and it was such as great book! I spent every free moment of my day reading it and it really inspired me to look deeper into classics. Great review too!

Yes, it was an instant favorite for me as well, although far too many years ago. I may have to revisit it.

I'm going to read this soon for a book club but am feeling rather apprehensive about it, so I'm so glad to hear how much you love it.

I loved your review on Circe and now The secret history ❤️ I do want to talk about books too as a booktuber but filming myself really panicks me out 😭

Same here! I had The Secret History on my shelf for ages, but I just kept saving it because I was sure I was going to love it and didn't want it to be over. I finally read it a couple of weeks ago and ended up devouring it in two days. As I thought, I ended up absolutely loving almost everything about it! Tartt's writing is extraordinary and I am still picking apart aspects of the novel. The Goldfinch is also incredible, and I liked The Little Friend a lot more than most, so I would also highly recommend that one.

I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as me! You've reassured me about the other two novels by Donna Tartt so I'll have to give them a go soon. :)

I've just ordered it online and I cannot wait for it to get here! I studied Latin and Greek in high school and always have been fascinated in them, so I'm truly looking forward to this and I have a pretty good feeling I'll love it :D Great review!

I was ambivalent about this book when I read it, however I do think I will go back to it. Interesting how a bit of distance from a book can make it feel more intriguing and compels you to revisit it. Your reviews are always enjoyable. Thank you. 😊

Thank you! Yes, I know how you feel, I've enjoyed lots of books much more on a second read, it's just hard to find the time to do so when there are so many other books I want to read.
